Chapter 85 - Last Second

Bandeer deals the cards - Community card is shown to Todor - Todor's turn to start

Bandeer (Kukuku! Stupid Todor! Just because I cannot track the cards now, doesn't mean I have no power at all to make you lose... About how the Joker is working, I can still engineer a way of it so no matter what you lose against Greg if you both have the Joker!)

Todor throws out one of his card, face up, Greg can see it, it is a 2

Greg (A 2? In normal poker it would be totally understandable, it's a weak card, but in this situation we are in... You can only want to not fold when you have the Joker, otherwise the risk is too high to play. The Joker wins every time if the others do not have, so then it does not matter what your other card is, but if your opponent also has a Joker, then your other card is reversed, the lower the stronger, so then, why would one throw out a 2? If you have a Joker, then you wouldn't, since it's more probable you will end up with a weaker hand, So he did not have a Joker, logically, he would throw out the higher card, so he either had a hand of 1 and 2 or a hand of 2 and 2? Wait, I'm running out of time! Hah-?)

Todor reveals he did actually have a Joker before throwing the 2 out.

Todor: Running out of time-

Todor: Raise, 1 minute and 11 seconds!

Greg as he waits again (1:11? So specific, also not even worth folding because of it being so small compared to how much I'm winning with!)

Greg calls

Greg waits then asks for another card.

(59 seconds left)

Todor asks for one as well.

Todor sighs, as he then puts down his cards, face up, but not resigning yet.

Todor: Do you have a joker, Greg? I don't think I can win with this hand

Todor's hand has a 2 and a 3

Then Greg shows his as well, it's a Joker with a 1

(47 seconds left)

Greg: Call.

Todor: Just a call? You have the strongest hand. You have won

Bandeer: Kukuku... indeed, why not obliterate the perfectionist then?

Todor: Maybe I only still don't give up simply is because giving up is imperfect, I would rather drag the game out as long as I can... Raise... 2 minutes and 30 seconds

(34 seconds left)

Greg: The longer you survive the closer you are to perfect? Honestly, Todor, I think your mindset is a real danger that can drag you down. I don't agree that trying to be perfect can be good for anyone in the long term, not even for you...

Raise, 5 minutes.

(24 seconds left)

Todor gives his hand to make a handshake with Greg.

Greg slowly accepts it

Todor: Congratulations, you almost won.

Greg: Than... What?

Todor: Referee. Right after what I'm going to say, tell how long until 15 minutes gametime

Referee nods

Todor: Raise, 5 minutes and 1 second!

As he gives a harder grip on Greg's hand.

Referee: Exactly 16 seconds.

Greg: Agh, stop it.

Gets free of Todor's grip, the max bet is 5 minutes anyway!

Todor: Oh, but the bet is not above 5 minutes, it is exactly 5 minutes.

Greg: Hah-!

Flashback:

Bandeer:

"If you raise, it does not immediately go to the bet. Imagine the bet is currently 1 minute exactly, then if the next player is raising to 2 minutes, then the bet is not 2 minutes yet, if that player decides to fold, then that player will lose that 1 minute, the bet only becomes 2 minute if the other player calls"

"The maximum that can be in the pot is 5 minutes!"

"The players are not allowed to take more than 15 seconds in one round. Otherwise, you will take a penalty loss equal to what is in the pot at the moment!"

"Todor raising to 5:01 when there was 16 seconds left in the clock"

Flashback ends

Greg (My lead is... 15:00 - [13:48 + 6:11] ... Which is, 4 minutes and 59 seconds!! The bet is... 5 minutes! I have 1 second less time than when the game would end... If I don't do anything, I'm getting the 5 minute penalty)

Greg: Have you just... made an uncallable bet? If I fold... even then... I'm going to lose 5 minutes...

Bandeer stands there still, completely shocked. The referee checks its clock.

Todor: Speechless, Greg?

3 seconds left, Greg leads by 4 minutes and 59 seconds.

2 seconds

As the clock hits 1 second...

Greg has officially run out of time. The rules did not allow to call or raise. Only fold, but he decided not to. Since he is out of time, he takes the penalty of the pot, 5 minutes exactly

Game End

Greg: By... A single second...

Bandeer: There is no way!!! I HATE YOU!

Todor: Do you really want to see me lose that much, Bandeer? Or what is your intention with this game anyway?

Greg: So... You are going to get Oli's tablet... That means... I'm going to get eliminated...? With that video on it...?

Todor: You two really should pay more attention to the rules.

Greg: What? Am I still missing something?

Todor: Word to word, these were the words of Bandeer's

"If the game still would need to continue, Greg will win, and if the game countdown reaches zero before the gametime reaches 15 minutes since the start of the game, Todor will win."

Todor:

Should the game continue if there would not be a 15 minute limit? No, so Greg did not win.

Did the countdown reach 0 before the gametime did 15 minutes?

Greg: Wait... Really... When there was still only 1 second left, I technically still had my lead... The countdown reached 0 and the game timer reached 15 at the same time...

Todor: None of us reached our goals, so that's a tie, isn't it?

Greg: But wait! On that round why didn't you raise it to 1:12 instead of 1:11 then? You wanted to tie?

Todor: Eliminating someone from a non-official game? I'm too perfect to take it. Also there is something I want to tell you.

Todor leans close to Greg's ear and whispers something into it.

Greg gets shocked.

Bandeer: What!? What are you telling him?

Back to the present, Greg still explaining everything to Oli and Adam

Adam: What? What did he tell you?

Greg: He said that...

"My goal is NOT... to take over the CEO"
