Chapter 19 - 19: The Confrontation of Two Armies

When Earl Banfort led his men in a charge, the cavalry on the hillside, just like before, tacitly ran towards the back of the slope.

Kingslayer Jaime couldn't see the battle situation on that side, only hearing the curses and screams of the soldiers.

This battle lasted much longer than the previous one, and after an unknown period, cavalry finally appeared on the hillside within Kingslayer Jaime's sight.

Those were Earl Banfort's men.

The scout who had gone back to report the news secretly breathed a sigh of relief: "Hey, we finally won. That was truly a living nightmare."

But very soon, the Lannister side realized that something was amiss.

More and more of Earl Banfort's cavalry appeared on the hillside, but they didn't seem to be returning victorious; instead, they seemed to be… routed?

Their numbers also seemed off; it was no longer a hundred men, only a little over seventy had returned.

Finally, when Earl Banfort was running back on his horse, Kingslayer Jaime realized that his earlier guess was correct.

Earl Banfort's helmet was askew, his weapon was nowhere to be seen, his face was filled with terror, and he wailed as he ran towards the Lannister army.

"Be careful, don't let them disrupt our formation."

After giving the order, Kingslayer Jaime grabbed the fleeing Earl Banfort, and without waiting for him to calm down, he directly took a pot of water from a servant and poured it over Earl Banfort's head.

"Calm down! Why did you run back? Is there an ambush in the woods behind them?"

Stimulated by the cold water, Earl Banfort regained some of his senses. With a look of terror, he stammered, "N-no ambush, just… just these dozen or so people… they're too strong. We couldn't hold them for three charges…"

"They didn't say a word!"

"They didn't say a word!"

Earl Banfort repeated the last sentence twice; the scene just now had truly given him an immense shock.

A dozen or so fully armored cavalry, carrying long spears in silence, charging towards you with a death-like stillness—he never wanted to experience that scene again.

Kingslayer Jaime was furious: "Just those dozen or so people?! They scattered you in just three charges?!"

Earl Banfort mumbled, "They're not afraid of death…"

Kingslayer Jaime inwardly disdained Earl Banfort. He was quick to rush to the front when there was glory to be had, but when it came to a bloody battle, he fled instead, showing no knightly spirit at all!

Under the cover of moonlight, those dozen or so cavalry returned to their original positions, silently confronting Kingslayer Jaime's three thousand cavalry.

However, the previous battle had caused them casualties; it was unknown how many had died or were wounded.

Regardless, a dozen cavalry being able to directly rout over a hundred cavalry proved that the enemy before them were elites among elites.

Kingslayer Jaime narrowed his eyes, looking at the enemy, his anger already boiling: "Damn it, this is an insult and contempt towards us!"

He put on his helmet, protecting his vital points, leaving only his eyes to look forward: "All troops advance, try to take them alive. I want them alive!"

He was determined to send all his troops to capture all these dozen elite cavalry and find out their origins.

The army of three thousand cavalry first slowly adjusted their positions, and once everything was ready, rows of soldiers simultaneously spurred their horses forward, instantly forming a thundering momentum!

Any inexperienced commander would be caught off guard by Kingslayer Jaime's move; they would likely be within the cavalry's attack range before they even reacted.

Little Jon, holding the Tully Family banner, was also somewhat caught off guard seeing Kingslayer Jaime suddenly advance with such a large army.

"Good thing I don't have to face such an opponent alone. I still have Young Wolf Lord Robb behind me," he thought.

Young Wolf Lord was the private title given to Robb by the Northern vassals, out of respect and admiration.

But Little Jon always wanted a different title, one that belonged only to the Wolf Cavalry for Robb, otherwise he couldn't distinguish himself from ordinary soldiers.

With no time to think much, seeing that his purpose as a decoy had been achieved, Little Jon turned his horse and charged towards the designated location.

Seeing the enemy charge towards the Whispering Forest, Kingslayer Jaime pondered, suspecting that the opponent had an ambush in the woods.

However, the opponent only had a dozen or so people. It was normal for them to hide in the woods seeing so many of his cavalry. Surely, they wouldn't charge him with just a dozen people, would they?

As soon as Little Jon saw Kingslayer Jaime slow down, he immediately slowed his horse as well, as if teasing Kingslayer Jaime.

Kingslayer Jaime's patience gradually wore thin, and anger took over his mind, causing him to charge directly towards Little Jon's group.

This chase game lasted for ten minutes, and the two sides finally arrived at a sunken terrain.

Little Jon suddenly accelerated, charging towards a small hill nearby to rendezvous with the main force.

Robb had long heard the thundering hooves, and once the scout located Little Jon, he immediately turned around, standing on the hill with the Wolf Cavalry to greet Little Jon.

"Whoa!"

There really was an ambush!

Kingslayer Jaime was startled by the sudden appearance of the cavalry, immediately pulling on his reins and slowing down.

However, once Kingslayer Jaime saw the enemy's troop composition under the moonlight, his heart immediately settled down considerably.

Three hundred men… Robb, you brat… hah.

Looking around, the surroundings were unusually quiet, making the possibility of other reinforcements unlikely.

"Kingslayer. Still well, it's been a while since we last met."

Robb looked down at the cavalry formation ten times his own in number, with no trace of panic on his face, which made Kingslayer Jaime quite puzzled. Could this boy be utterly ignorant of battle?

Seeing that the other party didn't speak, Robb continued, "You had an affair with Cersei, that Bitch, and pushed my brother Bran Stark, who discovered your dirty secret, from the tower, leaving him crippled for life."

"I also heard that you pierced my father's knee with a spear in King's Landing, forcing him to walk with a crutch."

"I furthermore heard that your son and mistress tied up my father, leaving a respected King's Hand to suffer in the dungeon."

"Lannister, truly a laughable family."

Robb's words echoed across the battlefield, and the Wolf Cavalry listened with righteous indignation, the surging anger in their chests stimulating their bodies.

The Lannister side, however, was somewhat uncertain and surprised, unsure if Robb's claims of incestuous affair were true, and marveling at their commander's wild ways. As for Ned's situation, they didn't care at all.

Kingslayer Jaime felt a rush of blood to his head, almost losing his sanity. He roared, "Shut up! You damned bastard! When I kill you, this battle will be over. What do you think three hundred men can do?!"

"Never mind, this is a battlefield after all."

Seeing that his objective was achieved, Robb no longer bothered with idle talk and silently raised his right hand, as if holding something invisible.

Over three thousand people looked at Robb's strange gesture, all somewhat confused.

Robb suddenly clenched his right hand tightly!

Crackling, sizzling!!!

The next instant, a long spear made of golden lightning appeared in his hand!
