Chapter 26 - 26 Important Battle

Robb had no time to worry about what was happening in the capital; he still had an important battle to fight.

Just like the battle in the Whispering Forest, the enemy's army was still larger than his, and they had built complete defensive fortifications, making it unlikely to replicate the miracle of cavalry charging to end the battle.

It was time for direct combat and leading the troops.

Robb calculated his current status in his mind; although he was very strong, this world had no orange juice to help him quickly restore his mana during battle, so he could only wait for time to slowly restore it.

Otherwise, if Robb kept spitting dragon breath, any army in front of him would be nothing but toys.

The idea of widely enchanting the army was not very good, because the enchantment's duration was not long, usually only a few minutes.

However, a large-scale battle lasting a whole day is common, and he couldn't possibly release enchantment prayers to find allied forces in the middle of a battle; that would be too inefficient.

Robb still felt that following the path of the Overlord of Chu was better: "It still depends on personal bravery. As long as I act overly inhuman and completely crush the enemy's morale in the shortest time possible, I can win."

Back then, the Overlord of Chu could fight an army of hundreds of thousands with tens of thousands of people, and he could do the same.

"My Lord, Lord Jason has arrived."

Blackfish came to Robb's tent, accompanied by an elderly nobleman, who was none other than Lord Jason Mallister, who had rushed from Seaguard to provide support.

Lord Jason was a tall, thin man with a clean-shaven beard, brown hair streaked with white, and a pair of fierce blue-gray eyes.

Perhaps due to the forced march, his face was gaunt and chiseled, and he wore indigo armor with silver inlays, his helmet adorned with eagle wings.

He greeted Robb politely: "Lord Robb Stark, to achieve such a brilliant victory at such a young age truly makes us old fellows in the Riverlands feel ashamed."

Robb rose to greet him; this one was far more trustworthy than Old Weasel of Luanhe City: "Lord Earl, you flatter me. Those are just empty titles; past events are like floating clouds in the sky, no need to dwell on them."

Lord Jason Mallister looked at Robb approvingly. To have captured the Kingslayer, such a major feat, and still maintain humility at such a young and impetuous age was truly rare.

"When I arrived, there were many wandering knights and defeated troops from Ser Jaime's forces who wanted to join us. I spent some time integrating them into the army, and now we have over 2,500 people."

Robb felt that these people were enough. He went to the map and began to observe the situation in Riverrun.

Because it was located at the confluence of two rivers, Riverrun was surrounded by rivers on all sides. Jaime could only divide his troops into three parts, stationed to the west, east, and north of Riverrun, which was Robb's opportunity.

"Actually, we are currently at an advantage," Blackfish analyzed, pointing at the map. "Jaime was captured by you; they are now leaderless, and their morale must be in chaos. The combined number of our forces and the Riverrun garrison is greater than any one of their three separate units."

Lord Jason Mallister did not speak; he wanted to hear Robb's tactical arrangements.

Robb thought for a moment and decided to use the simplest strategy in military tactics: surprise attack combined with feint.

"When night falls, we will launch a general attack. Lord Jason, please transfer all the cavalry in your army to me. How many people are there, roughly?"

"One or two hundred, their combat effectiveness is still decent."

Robb nodded: "Very good. I will lead four hundred riders to launch a night raid on the enemy on the North Bank. As soon as you see the fire, immediately lead all your forces to attack the troops on the West Bank."

Blackfish did not doubt Robb; previously, Robb had led their team of less than three hundred men to break through Jaime's three thousand cavalry, so this night raid on the camp should be no problem.

"What about the Riverrun garrison?"

Robb had already thought it through: "Once I begin the night raid on the North Bank, the armies from the east and west will surely cross the river to reinforce. The Riverrun garrison will be responsible for dealing with those reinforcing troops, attacking them mid-crossing. The Lannister army is no match for the Riverrun garrison."

The plan was finalized, and everyone entered a state of readiness.

Blackfish led his men to clear out nearby scouts, preventing the enemy from knowing the movements of their army, and at the same time, sent messages to the garrison inside Riverrun.

...

Night quickly fell, and Robb, mounted on his horse, set out with over four hundred Wolf Cavalry.

Tonight was also a full moon.

Robb and the Wolf Cavalry waited quietly on the North Bank.

After an unknown amount of time, a raven's cry came from afar.

This was the signal between Robb and Lord Jason. As soon as the other party had made their deployment, they would send a scout to inform Robb.

Seeing the campfires of the troops stationed on the North Bank extinguish, Robb put on his helmet and took up his longsword.

Behind him, the Wolf Cavalry silently raised their long spears.

Most of the cavalry sent by Lord Jason were somewhat flustered. Many of them were stragglers who had just suffered a defeat, and if they hadn't heard that Robb had defeated three thousand of Jaime's men with only three hundred, many of them would have already fled.

Did they really expect a few hundred cavalry to attack a several-thousand-strong army with defensive fortifications?

What was the difference from suicide?

But when they saw Robb's determined eyes and the chilling atmosphere of the Wolf Cavalry, a strange confidence grew within them. They somehow felt that following such a leader and team, they would always win.

"The enemy is resting. Now is the best time for us to put our swords to their throats. Just follow me and charge."

Robb's voice came out muffled from under his helmet, but everyone heard it clearly.

Awooo!!!

Under the full moon, accompanied by Grey Wind's long howl, the sound of hooves was like thunder!

The Lannister army's patrol soldiers on the North Bank quickly discovered the anomaly. A soldier immediately fumbled for a nearby Horn, preparing to blow it as a warning.

Splat!

A long spear made of golden lightning instantly appeared in the soldier's chest. He was completely paralyzed, unable to move, his face full of confusion: How could he not move?

After the soldier fell, the patrol soldiers behind him still tried to grab the Horn, but Robb immediately took their lives with a second lightning spear from a distance.

After several consecutive attempts, the patrolling soldiers realized that this Horn was a death trap, and it was best not to even look at it.

So the few remaining soldiers could only warn using the most primitive method: shouting.

"Enemy attack!"

"The wolves are coming!"

The shouts could not spread throughout the entire camp in a short time.

Without the warning from the Horn, a third of the North Bank garrison failed to wake up in time from their sleep.

Many soldiers ran out of the tents near Robb's army; they had all been awakened by the sound of hooves.

"Quick, to the fortifications! Enemy attack!"

"Cover! Where the hell are the archers? Get over here!"

The North Bank's defensive command system had not completely collapsed yet, and there were still mid-level officers attempting to counterattack.

Robb led the charge, looking at the wooden anti-cavalry fences on the road, he leaped high from his horse's back, then condensed the phantom of a giant dragon.

This time, it was the roar of a fire dragon.
