Ringed Knight Straight Sword — The black straight sword wielded by the Ringed Knights. The weapons of the ancients were tempered by the Abyss, thus retaining a trace of life.
It is said that because of this, the gods placed a seal of fire on the sword and its wielder.
Weapon Art: Ember — Take up the sword, now a shadow of its former glory, assume a stance, and temporarily reclaim its past brilliance and the power of fire.
Yu Jin handed the dark straight sword to Bennett, who took it and examined it carefully.
This straight sword was also covered in rust, or rather, most of Yu Jin's weapons were like this.
The hilt of the Ringed Knight Straight Sword was a plain black iron rod, without much ornamentation. Beyond the hilt was a guard formed by twisted, tree-like branching horns.
From this mass of twisted horns emerged the blade of the Ringed Knight Straight Sword, etched with intricate, dark patterns. Vaguely, Bennett also saw flowing flames and an ineffable dark substance within it.
Bennett's heart tightened, and a sharp pain shot through his temples. His very nature as a person told him that this thing was very dangerous!
So dangerous that even his usual good luck, which always helped him survive desperate situations, wouldn't be able to help him.
"Come on, come on! I'll teach you how to use it." A gentle voice came, Yu Jin was a little excited, he didn't expect that the little trick he discovered in this world would have a chance to see the light of day again.
As Yu Jin's voice reached him, Bennett immediately felt a sense of relief. When he looked again, the Ringed Knight Straight Sword had returned to its ordinary appearance.
"Alright! Then I'll leave it to you, Senior!" Bennett took a few deep breaths, a characteristic smile on his face. His senior wouldn't harm him, and knowing that was enough!
Yu Jin nodded. The young man was very perceptive; it seemed he hadn't picked the wrong person. So, he pulled out another identical Ringed Knight Straight Sword.
As for why he had a second one? What nonsense, of course he stole it! Is there only one knight in the Ringed City? He even had a pile of Dragonslayer Greatbows.
"Watch closely!" Yu Jin shouted, then swung his sword. Everyone looked over, then witnessed a strange scene.
Yu Jin had just finished the sword-swinging posture, and the next moment, his hand returned to its position before the swing.
A faint glow of fire also appeared on the Ringed Knight Straight Sword, indicating the state when its weapon art, Ember, was about to activate.
Everyone found it increasingly strange; Yu Jin's recent actions clearly defied logic. When a normal person swings a sword and doesn't hit anything, there's always a small distance for deceleration and recovery.
But Yu Jin seemed to have skipped that action, directly resetting his state to before the swing!
This was the secret Yu Jin discovered — the Ringed Knight Straight Sword's weapon art could cancel attack recovery frames!
It must be similar to the existence of the left bow!
Yu Jin looked at the confused crowd and explained, "This weapon's weapon art... its inherent power can cancel attack recovery frames."
"If you use it skillfully, you can do this." Yu Jin said, then took out the Black Knight Shield and began his demonstration.
Yu Jin's upper body quickly twisted, his body swaying back and forth between bent and upright states, without any intermediate state!
This was the Ringed Knight Straight Sword's cancel, cancel, cancel... in short, it canceled many unnecessary things.
Yu Jin kept canceling for a while before stopping, because he found this weapon quite fun.
"How about it? Pretty amazing, right?" Yu Jin said to the dumbfounded crowd, who nodded blankly.
Leaving aside everything else, merely being able to twitch and twist one's body at such a rapid frequency was quite terrifying.
"Come on, Bennett, try it!" Yu Jin looked at Bennett enthusiastically, hoping he could replicate the magnificent scene from earlier.
"Ha!" Bennett swung his sword, but nothing happened.
Yu Jin scratched his head and said to him, "Never mind, get familiar with your weapon art first."
"Weapon art?" Bennett was a little confused; it was the first time he had heard of such a thing. Was it an elemental skill?
"It's something engraved on the weapon, similar to a pre-programmed ability. You can use it by inputting power," Yu Jin explained.
Weapon arts are good, but they are not as practical as what one learns oneself. Yu Jin can now use a horizontal slash on a greatsword! With one swing, no matter who you are, your head will definitely be buzzing.
If one doesn't learn weapon arts, the horizontal slash can only be engraved on small to medium swords; it's impossible to use it on colossal weapons.
"Calm down and feel it." Yu Jin gently coaxed.
"Mhm." Bennett nodded at his words. He closed his eyes, concentrating and gripping the Ringed Knight Straight Sword in his hand.
Soon, something in the unseen world pulled at him, a tiny suction coming from the Ringed Knight Straight Sword in Bennett's hand.
Bennett opened his eyes, he found it! He relaxed, letting the Ringed Knight Straight Sword draw something away.
"Boom!" The sound of intense flames igniting came, and Bennett found that the Ringed Knight Straight Sword in his hand burst into fierce flames.
The flames coalesced into a pillar of fire, extending several meters away!
Keep up the good work! Bennett increased the input of power, and at the same time, the thought of attacking flashed through his mind.
Then, an unprecedented experience descended upon him — his body was controlled by the weapon.
This control was merely simple control; Bennett could perceive that his consciousness was not affected, and he could cancel this control at any time.
Then, under Fischl's astonished gaze, Bennett swiftly swung the several-meter-long fire blade five times in quick succession. Where the fire blade swept, the air itself became scorching.
"This..." Bennett looked at his hands in surprise. The speed and posture of his sword swings just now, were those really movements his body could make?
For Bennett, who always fought without regard for his life, he experienced the shock that "skill" brought him for the first time.
As Bennett was relishing the recent experience, Yu Jin leaned in and asked, "Do you feel any discomfort?"
He didn't know how much of Bennett's mana bar there was, so he asked.
"Uh, my brain feels a bit tired?" Bennett scratched his head; he actually felt his brain was tired, another peculiar experience.
"This weapon uses your mental energy to perform its weapon art. Be careful when you use it, don't black out." Yu Jin nodded, it was as he had guessed.
Bennett listened to Yu Jin's words, and again felt a wave of confusion. Mental energy? He had never heard of such a thing.
Yu Jin didn't explain much; he said, "Alright, since you've successfully used the weapon art, now try to cancel the recovery frames. It's very useful!"
It was indeed useful; the Ringed Knight Straight Sword could even cancel hitstun recovery frames, which was quite absurd.
"Okay!" Bennett recalled Yu Jin's movements. He swung his sword, then quickly injected mental energy into the Ringed Knight Straight Sword.
Subsequently, Bennett found that his downward-swinging hand suddenly returned to its previous position. And the pillar of fire on the Ringed Knight Straight Sword reignited.
"Clap, clap, clap!" Yu Jin applauded, then said, "Not bad, but you still need to practice. When you can successfully cancel before the fire completely ignites, that's when you'll have mastered it."
With that, Yu Jin began his frantic canceling again; he found it quite fun... Amidst the huge roars and occasional sounds of Burning flames, everyone practiced until evening.
After parting ways at the entrance of Mondstadt, Yu Jin walked alone into a tavern — Katheryne had returned to Mondstadt Katheryne's home.
Upon entering, there was an immediate clamor. This was the tavern most favored by Mondstadt's Adventurers; Angel's Share was good, but one couldn't boast to each other there.
Here, it was different. Yu Jin could see many familiar faces boasting about their Adventure experiences from the day.
"Yo, Yu Jin's back!"
"Where did Senior go?"
"Come on, come on! Bartender, the usual, a glass of juice. Not drinking alcohol is such a hassle!"
...As soon as Yu Jin entered, he attracted everyone's attention. A significant number of people knew Yu Jin had returned; they were either curious, surprised, or greeted him directly.
Everyone greatly respected Yu Jin, and likewise, Yu Jin respected them.
"Come on, come on! Look! First-hand information from a Great Adventurer!" Yu Jin pulled out a stack of photos and excitedly waved them around.
Subsequently, the entire tavern became even more boisterous!
