Chapter 162 - Chapter 162: The Abyss Quartet

"???"

"???"

Watching Yu Jin raise his hands and passionately shout in a language they didn't understand, Dvalin and the Abyss Mages fell silent once more.

What was this person doing?

However, Yu Jin stopped after a brief rehearsal; yelling at the top of his lungs was exhausting.

After resting for a while, Yu Jin turned to look at the Abyss Mages who were still drawing circles.

"Stop drawing, tell me about yourselves," Yu Jin walked over and directly erased all the circles they had drawn.

Yu Jin was very interested in these Abyss Mages. To be able to slack off to this extent, Yu Jin thought they could be compared to Viktor of the Church of Favonius.

That guy was also a master of slacking, standing at the entrance of the Cathedral of Favonius every day. When someone approached, he would say, "What is there about Barbatos that is worth your faith?" He didn't even know how long he had been slacking off like this, living a very comfortable life.

"Ah! My drawing!" The Electro Abyss Mage exclaimed, but when he looked up and saw the iron boots in front of him, his momentum immediately deflated.

"It's quite ugly," he said weakly, then stood up and moved next to the Pyro Abyss Mage. Being with smart people made him feel secure.

The Hydro Abyss Mage and Cryo Abyss Mage also felt it was pointless when they saw their "masterpiece" destroyed, so they stood up as well.

"By the way, you guys seem very special," Yu Jin scanned the four Abyss Mages standing in a row—red, purple, blue, and white—as obedient as four rabbit spirits.

"Indeed, I can barely get along with them," Dvalin nodded in agreement. These few Abyss Mages were among the few he could tolerate.

"How can we not be special? We are the fringe members of The Order!" The Pyro Abyss Mage said this with an inexplicable confidence.

"Clap, clap, clap!" Yu Jin clapped along and then said, "Continue!"

"Actually, it's just that our personalities don't get along with the other guys, so we're always sent out to do some thankless tasks," The Cryo Abyss Mage sighed and said.

Their companions in the Abyss Order always looked bitter and resentful, as if they had a great grudge against the world.

In fact, most of the monsters in the Abyss Order thought that way. But these four were an exception.

The Pyro Abyss Mage also felt a wave of emotion upon hearing the Cryo Abyss Mage's words. He said, "It's true, we woke up confused, were confusedly brought into The Order, and then confusedly sent out to perform some unknown tasks. Anyway, everything about us is confused."

"Yes, yes, yes, many times I don't know why The Order's tasks need to be done that way. But luckily, there are sights to see; the scenery above ground is much more beautiful than underground," The Electro Abyss Mage nodded, agreeing wholeheartedly with the Pyro Abyss Mage.

Compared to the nonsensical tasks of The Order, the scenery above ground was their true reason for choosing to travel far.

"What do you think?" Yu Jin scanned around and found that only the Hydro Abyss Mage was silently looking at his companions.

"Me... me?" The Hydro Abyss Mage seemed not to have expected Yu Jin to point at him and ask, and for a moment, he didn't react.

He scratched his head with his staff and awkwardly uttered a few words, "Actually, I just find it more interesting to be with them."

"Wow! You're so cheesy!" The Electro Abyss Mage exclaimed. Then he was enveloped by the Hydro Abyss Mage's bubble.

"No one will think you're mute if you don't speak!" The Hydro Abyss Mage said, somewhat flushed with anger.

Yu Jin stroked his chin, watching the bickering quartet, and felt a deep sense of emotion.

In the most desperate darkness, the purest light will be born; in the most stable order, world-overturning changes will also be nurtured.

Things turn into their opposite when they reach an extreme, it's the same in any world.

"How are these guys?" Yu Jin looked up at Dvalin.

"Just friends," Dvalin snorted, not expecting his first friends besides Barbatos to be Abyss Mages. What an ironic twist of fate.

Yu Jin shook his head with a smile, an unforthcoming fellow.

"Do you have names?" Yu Jin asked, looking at the four Abyss Mages in the distance.

Then Yu Jin saw the Abyss Mages' heads shake in a surprisingly uniform manner.

"Actually, I gave myself a name," The Pyro Abyss Mage said while shaking his head. Then he saw the heads of his three companions immediately stop.

Their little eyes clearly said: 'Doggo, you've changed.'

"Tell me," Yu Jin was very curious. What name would an Abyss Mage give himself?

"Enjou, the name I gave myself is Enjou," The Pyro Abyss Mage raised his head and proudly shouted his name aloud.

"Enjou?" Yu Jin silently savored the name Enjou. An Abyss Mage, named "Enjou."

It seemed to hold some deeper meaning. Yu Jin gave Enjou a meaningful look. Of course, it was also possible he was just overthinking it.

"Enjou? Why such a strange name?" The Electro Abyss Mage looked at Enjou. How could such a smart "person" choose such a strange name?

Then, as if he had thought of something, the Electro Abyss Mage's eyes lit up, and he patted his chest, saying, "Since you're called Enjou, then I'll be called Enka!"

"I... I'll be called Ensa!" The Hydro Abyss Mage, seeing the Electro Abyss Mage give himself a name, immediately followed suit and gave himself a name.

The Cryo Abyss Mage looked at the dark-faced Enjou, then at the excited Enka and Ensa. He shook his head helplessly, then said with a smile, "With up, down, and left covered, it seems I'll be called Enyu!"

"Good, good, good!" Yu Jin clapped sincerely at this scene. The Abyss Quartet finally had their own names, which was truly cause for celebration.

Saying that, Yu Jin walked over to them, and from somewhere, pulled out a large stack of incredibly thick books.

"I remember you guys like to read, right? These books are for you!" Yu Jin said, handing these "bricks" to the Abyss Mages.

Enjou looked at the heavy books in his hands. He really wanted to say: "Actually, you misunderstood, I don't like reading at all."

But he didn't say it in the end, because it was, after all, the first gift someone had given him, making it very memorable.

After Yu Jin finished distributing the books, he ran over to Dvalin. He also pulled out a few giant books.

Those were books Lanssangx had specifically asked him to translate. This was also the reason for his visit; he had been chatting so happily that he almost forgot about the main business.

"These are..." Dvalin flipped through them. They were identical to the books he had read before, but the language had been changed to the common language of Teyvat.

"Is Lanssangx not coming?" Dvalin only flipped through two pages before he stopped looking, impatiently asking about Lanssangx's situation.

"She can't come for now, she's busy. These are what she asked me to translate," Yu Jin explained, then said, "Don't worry about her. Just get your spirits up, and you'll see her again soon!"

Dvalin visibly relaxed upon hearing Yu Jin's words. He closed his eyes and meditated for a moment, then said, "Durin is crying in my head; I can't rest well."

"Small problem, leave it to me," Yu Jin patted his chest armor. Then he spread his arms, and an unparalleled suction force appeared.

Under this suction force, both the Abyss Quartet and Dvalin felt their souls were like small boats in a stormy sea. A slight misstep and their souls would plunge into the endless abyss.

Fortunately, this suction force only lasted for an instant before disappearing. It didn't cause any DMG to Dvalin or the others.

When everything was calm, Dvalin settled his mind. The sobbing that had echoed in his mind was gone, and a long-lost peace returned to Dvalin's mind.

"It... uh, what are you going to do with it?" Dvalin looked at Yu Jin. He understood that the soul, presumably Durin's, had been taken by him.

"Don't worry, I'm just sending him back to where he was born," Yu Jin waved his hand mysteriously, his words leaving Dvalin utterly confused.

Didn't Durin come from Khaenri'ah? How could he be sent back?

But Dvalin turned and saw the perfectly intact platform. He tilted his head and thought for a while.

It seemed, it really might be possible?
