Pov: Eirian
Amiel and Ael stood next to me as a moose stood on either side of us. Eira watched us from the cafeteria doors.
As the snow fell, my heart pounded. My face stoic, my hand twitched on holding the blade.
"Right now, we need to kill the injured moose, leave the other alive to help us bring down the tower," Ael stated. "It's best if we—"
Before Ael said another word, I rushed in on the injured moose.
"Eirian!"
"Leave the injured one to me!" I yelled back.
Ael stood there, debating what to do. After a brief moment, he said something to Amiel and went off to the other moose.
Going in, my blade made contact with one of its antlers, pushing me back. See this, started to use its blindside to my advantage. I let the knife graze along the antler instead of being deflected, and let the beast pass by me.
Activating Light's Edge, I stood by its side. Taking the knife, I pressed it against them and twisted it. The beast twitched as he was getting ready to shove me aside, but before it had a chance to do anything, I fell back.
'That confirmed my first suspicion.' Light's edge did more than release a slash of light. It allowed me to augment it on my blade.
It stared at me; it was weak; it could only withstand a few more attacks before it would fall. The moose had tremendous power, but its ability to move freely was severely limited by its size.
I took a breath. The light absorption has started to close my wounds, not heal them, but it means I wasn't losing blood anymore.
I looked over to the side and saw Ael and Amiel fighting the other beast. Ael dashed around freely, holding two daggers made of blood as a chain connected them, while Amiel acted like a decoy, allowing Ael to deal damage to it.
As I turned back to the moose, I saw it come close to me.
'Shit.' I thought. I only looked away for a second, and it was inches away from me. Seeing this, I froze. Before I realized it, a loud bang rang through the quad.
'Huh?'
The beast took a massive blast and fell back, stunned. Looking where the bang came from, I see Eira. She held a large weapon in her hand, almost like a sniper. The thick gun was coated in gray, while the barrel turned to mist.
"What is that!?" I yelled.
She smiled, giving me a thumbs up, "It's my miracle!"
I sat there stunned. The thought of someone so clumsy holding a weapon sent chills down my spine.
My lips twitched, "Thank you?..."
I shook my head, trying to focus once more. Turning back to the beast, I got ready for another attack. Reinforced by light's edge, the blade glowed with a calming white light. Little particles loomed from the blade.
As the beast recovered, it stood still as a mist started to emit from its mouth.
'This again?' I thought, trying to see a way out. I couldn't get to high ground, nor could I run any of them away; I was in the wide open. Thinking of my limited options, I threw out a slash of light from my blade before it could release the blue mist.
It faltered for a brief moment. Before it recovered quickly and continued emitting the mist. Trying to stop it, I threw a few more at its feet. The snow flew up, blocking its view of me. Using this to my advantage, I closed the distance and emerged from the snow.
Bring down my blade at its noise, I pierce it, going all the way to its mouth. The moose collapsed from the force of my blade as the beast froze its mouth shut. Upon doing this, it tried to get up. Realizing this, I jumped back as Eira shot once more to cover me.
'Shit, because I couldn't see him well, I was only able to land a non-lethal blow. If I had better vision of him, I could have killed him.' I clenched my jaw at the thought.
Flipping my knife back to a basic grip, I sprinted at the beast. I glanced over at Eira. She nodded at me. She shot a few more shots, allowing me to close the gap safely. Alongside it, I sent out a few more light edges. The moose faltered.
Once I got close enough, I let out a barrage of attacks as Eira shot at the beast. My eyes staggered around trying to follow its movements. When it tried to charge at me, I would dodge out of the way. Upon using its antler, a few cut me, but most deflected with my blade. When neither worked, it would kick me. Blocking each one, I would get thrown back a few feet. After relentless attacks and the moose now severely wounded, it let out a cry for help. The other beast took notice but couldn't do anything with Amiel and Ael distracting.
Realizing I needed to end this, I came face to face with the beast. As I am under it, still standing as its size was double mine, I pierced its throat, activating the light's edge. The beast broke the ice that had formed at its mouth and tried to blast me once more with its mist.
'Shit shit shit.' I thought.
Before it could, another shot rang through the sky from Eira. As I glanced at her, I could see her smile.
Taking the opportunity, I dragged the blade up its throat, releasing light's edge inside of him. The thick skin couldn't protect it now. Screaming, I used all my strength, and the beast fell to the floor.
I had slain the moose that had been relentlessly causing havoc throughout the campus. I was now one step closer to leaving.
