Chapter 33 - Ch-33 True Might

The next part of the fight was something that all Konoha and Kumo ninjas remembered in almost perfect definition.

The flames and walls of lightning died down—instead, tremors started wrecking the ground. The white-haired Sannin wasn't just a new addition—he was a force to be reckoned with. A Kage-level ninja in a battlefield of only jonins.

It was a bad matchup, to say the least.

The first jonin almost warmed him up, yet he continued—rushing through the field, picking off jonin one by one.

They did their best.

Some used large-scale jutsus… so Jiraiya countered with his own—bigger, better, stronger.

Some tried to engage in hand-to-hand combat… and Jiraiya didn't budge. The only difference—he was a master of taijutsu.

There wasn't a single elite jonin in the squad, and it showed.

The worst was when the man summoned a giant toad in the middle of the battlefield. The Konoha ninjas, understanding what was about to happen, immediately ran from their fights.

Jiraiya, on the other hand, aimed toward Kumogakure. Toad oil—highly receptive to fire—mixed with a fire-style jutsu, rained like a true S-rank technique.

It was destructive, despair-inducing, and utterly terrifying.

Some tried to run. Some erected walls. Yet the range and power were far too overwhelming.

The Kumo assault that was supposed to be the winner of the battlefield… died within minutes of his arrival.

Kakashi, hidden among the swarm of Konoha ninjas, watched as Jiraiya picked off the Kumo like insects. His eyes widened in sheer amazement.'So that… is the sensei of Minato-sensei.'

Shivers crawled down his back as he saw the immense fire-style ninjutsu. The heat almost reached his own skin. 'Warm… yet for those guys—it must be hell.'

The rest of Kumo was neatly picked apart by the Konoha squad.

SWOOSH

PUCHI

BOOM

Small and large shouts echoed across the ground… and finally, after many minutes of execution, the Kumo forces fell.

Kakashi looked at the downed Kumo, then turned toward the jolly man. 'So that's what a Kage-level ninja is like… Are all Sannin like this? Then how strong must the Hokage be?'Questions raced through his mind.

The moment the skirmish ended, loud shouts erupted from the Konoha ninjas. Many chanted Jiraiya's name, while others hugged and prayed for their friends' safety.

While it didn't seem like it, Jiraiya had intervened quite quickly—The Konoha ninjas who survived silently thanked the Sannin in their minds.

Meanwhile, the man himself was busy with his own task....Jiraiya picked up Kyojiro, his eyes twinkling with the new knowledge he had gained. 'Nothing broken or serious… but he's overused his body far too much. I doubt he'll be able to participate in any fight for at least a week.'

He walked with the limp Uchiha in his arms, eyes darting across the crowd before finally finding the tuft of white hair. 'Kakashi… that should be good enough.'

"Yo, brat—help your teammate out and put him in the medical ward, alright?" His voice was frank.

Kakashi, who had already expected the man's arrival, nodded. Despite the indifference he usually carried, his eyes softened as they landed on the hurt figure of Kyojiro.

However, the white-haired brat didn't ask any questions—neither curious about whether he had passed the jonin test. 'Technically, we detected the ambush too late… that should automatically mean we failed.'

Taking the Uchiha senior from Jiraiya, he muttered, "Hn," before moving toward the medics....The air had once again turned fresh. The wind that once carried the iron-like smell of blood now smelled of fruits and delicacies.

Kakashi was simply walking through the now-rebuilt camp. 'Three days… it took them three days to rebuild all of it.' His eyes looked into the distance, finding some shinobi intermingling, laughing among themselves.

He turned his head—his destination clear in his mind. 'The medical camp.'

SWOOSH

The newly made tent slightly shook under the wind, its flap opening and closing. Kakashi didn't mind. Timing his steps with the wind, he entered the camp.

Seeing the Konoha headband on his forehead, the medics didn't say much, letting him pass.

'There he is.' Kakashi's eyes narrowed as he saw the peaceful, sleeping figure of the fiery-haired Uchiha. The man hadn't woken up in three days—almost as if in a coma.

'Yet he's recovering at an immense rate… the scars have almost disappeared.'Seconds passed… and soon minutes, yet Kakashi couldn't tear his gaze away from the man.

He gritted his teeth, irritation flashing through his eyes. 'You… why are you like you are?'He clenched his fist as he turned away.

The man—Kyojiro—was unlike what Kakashi expected of an Uchiha. He wasn't stoic or cold. He was gentle, kind, believed in loyalty and courage.

On the days they went scouting, the duo had talked a lot, and Kakashi had come to know much about him.

His eyes darkened. 'He's too much like him.'

A hazy memory flickered—of when he was a child, a white-haired man he looked up to, who carried a sword on his back.

A ninja who was kind, gentle… and put his friends above the mission.

The same ninja he had found dead in his own house as a child.

His father—Sakumo Hatake.

He shook his head, dispelling the thoughts from his mind. 'He's not him… no matter how much he resembles him. Always remember that, Kakashi.' He told himself, trying to exit the tent.

Yet before he could continue—

"Is that you, Kakashi…?"

A soft, almost cracking voice entered his ears.

He turned around only to see Kyojiro awake, a faint smile on his face. "You came to see me, huh… thanks."

Kakashi's eyes betrayed him. Every word the man spoke felt more and more like his father—Their faces intermingling like a ghost had come to life.

Without uttering a word, Hatake disappeared from the tent, leaving the Uchiha wondering what had just happened.
