***Cassius***
Two weeks passed.
In all that time, Aldrik never brought up the letter. Not even once.
Life just kept moving along in the quiet rhythm it had settled into lately. Every morning I spent time with the priest trainees, going over their lessons. Lunches became these loud, crowded things in the main hall where people just showed up without anyone planning it.
The evenings were usually spent with Cadiz, Raizel, Camilla, Karl, and Lyris. We would all sit around while the twins slept, everyone pretending the babies had finally developed a normal sleep schedule. They hadn't, of course, but it was nice to hope.
Some nights Aldrik stayed in my room. Some nights he didn't. He never just assumed he was welcome, and he never made a move without waiting for me to decide first. That quiet patience made everything feel a lot easier, but it also made it impossible for me to stop thinking.
