Alexander stepped down from the plane with a whirlwind of emotions churning inside him. His chest felt tight, his breath catching in his throat. He was happy—because soon he would finally meet his biological child—but at the same time, anxiety and fear crept in, wondering whether his arrival would even be welcomed.
"It's been thirty-five years," he murmured softly as he walked down the aircraft aisle. "Will he accept me?"
Although he admitted that he had reacted too late after realizing something was wrong with the child he had raised, at his current age—when death constantly loomed over every step—Alexander knew he would never find peace if the Tanner Group were to fall into Bana's hands. That was why he had made up his mind. No matter what happened, he had to convince his son that the family company must be inherited by his true flesh and blood.
"This is my last chance," he thought as he straightened his suit. "I cannot fail."
