Chapter 80 - Tang San — Xiao Wu, My Xiao Wu

"Xiao Wu, my Xiao Wu…"

Tang San kept muttering the same phrase over and over.

Six years ago, ever since Tang San and Xiao Wu became sworn siblings, he had always treated her as his real little sister. No matter the hardship, he would never let her suffer, nor allow anyone to hurt her.

But today—upon hearing that Xiao Wu was injured—Tang San's entire being trembled.

When he ignored the pain from his own wounds and slowly walked to Xiao Wu's bedside, he fell completely silent.

"Mu Bai, calm down. We don't even know who that San Yue Zhi Dong is yet. How can we talk about revenge?"

Yu Xiaogang sighed softly.

He then walked over to Tang San, patted his shoulder, and said, "Xiao San, don't be too sad. If Xiao Wu could see you like this, I don't think she would want that."

Tang San slapped away Yu Xiaogang's hand from his shoulder, expressionless as he stared at him. "Teacher, was it you who let Xiao Wu enter the Death Battle?"

Yu Xiaogang froze, unable to answer.

There were three types of battles in the Great Spirit Arena: Strategy Battles, Death Battles, and Wager Battles.

Everyone in the Shrek Seven Devils understood all three.

And they all knew what a Death Battle meant.

Before the Shrek Seven Devils ever entered the arena, Flender had already warned them—only participate in Strategy Battles. Death Battles and Wager Battles were too dangerous; if you lost your life, there would be no justice to be found.

"Xiao San, listen to me—"

Yu Xiaogang hadn't even finished before Tang San barked, "Shut up!"

His face twisted with fury, eyes locked coldly onto Yu Xiaogang.

"You—Xiao San, what did you just say?!"

Yu Xiaogang stammered. It was the first time he had ever seen Tang San like this.

The entire room went silent—no one dared to speak.

Normally, Tang San treated Yu Xiaogang with deep respect. Everyone knew that.

Even when they sparred among themselves, everyone followed one unspoken rule: be extra careful when facing Xiao Wu.

Because they all remembered clearly the time Zhao Wuji injured Xiao Wu—and how Tang San had unleashed his hidden weapons in rage.

And now, Xiao Wu's injuries were severe. Her breathing fluctuated—sometimes weak, sometimes strong, unstable and uncertain. She could die at any moment.

"Why did you let Xiao Wu enter the Death Battle? Tell me—why!?"

Tang San stood up and grabbed Yu Xiaogang by the collar.

Yu Xiaogang's face turned pale with fright.

From the beginning, as Tang San's teacher, he had never once seen Tang San so furious.

Flender quickly stepped forward, wanting to separate them and calm things down.

"Dean Flender, stop right there!"

Tang San's shout stopped him in his tracks.

Flender froze—he didn't understand what Tang San meant by that.

Everyone else was petrified, afraid to move, silently watching the master and disciple face off.

"I want an answer!"

Tang San's eyes grew bloodshot. He couldn't accept Yu Xiaogang's decision to send Xiao Wu into the Death Battle.

Yu Xiaogang stayed silent for a long time before finally sighing, helpless. "Xiao San, everything I did—it was all for you."

"For me?" Tang San frowned.

Yu Xiaogang's tone became anxious. "That San Yue Zhi Dong beat you up so badly. My heart was bleeding! My first thought was to find a way to make him pay!"

"So you let Xiao Wu enter a Death Battle?" Tang San shot back coldly.

"Xiao San, I originally thought the Zhuge Divine Crossbow's penetrating power would be enough to kill San Yue Zhi Dong. But who could have guessed—he's so fast, and he even had that secret iron sphere weapon! I was careless… Xiao San, if you want to blame someone, blame San Yue Zhi Dong. Everything I did—was for your sake." Yu Xiaogang's eyes shimmered with tears as he spoke.

"For my sake?" Tang San released his grip on Yu Xiaogang and sat back down beside Xiao Wu's bed. "If you truly cared about me, you wouldn't have sent Xiao Wu to fight in a Death Battle. San Yue Zhi Dong is powerful. When he fought me, he didn't even use his Martial Soul. Do you really think he couldn't deal with Xiao Wu?"

"Not even the Zhuge Divine Crossbow?" Yu Xiaogang muttered. He couldn't figure out how San Yue Zhi Dong had evaded it.

And that mysterious iron sphere—whose weapon was that? Its destructive power was terrifying.

"The Zhuge Divine Crossbow is strong and fast, but it still depends on the opponent. San Yue Zhi Dong's speed is the greatest I've ever seen. Xiao Wu is quick, yes—but not quicker than him. If it were Zhu Zhuqing instead, maybe there'd be a sliver of hope."

When Tang San finished speaking, Zhu Zhuqing's expression froze.

Yu Xiaogang turned just in time to see her storm out, slamming the door behind her without a word.

"Everyone at Shrek Academy has gone mad!"

Zhu Zhuqing ran her hands through her hair, frustrated. Everything Zhou Si Dong (San Yue Zhi Dong) said had come true. The longer she stayed at Shrek Academy, the deeper she sank.

"No. I need to find Zhou Si Dong myself. I have to reconsider this academy."

"What's that supposed to mean? She didn't even let me speak—that's so rude," Yu Xiaogang muttered.

"She's just afraid you'll make her fight in a Death Battle too," Ning Rongrong said bluntly from the side. "After what happened to Xiao Wu, just leave us out of it."

"Do you really think I'm that kind of person?"

Yu Xiaogang frowned. Today, after getting humiliated by San Yue Zhi Dong at the Great Spirit Arena, he'd been cursed at by countless people. It had taken every ounce of his strength just to walk out of there alive.

"Heh…"

After Ning Rongrong said her piece, she left as well.

Her best friend had been nearly killed because of the Grandmaster—she had to think about her own future now.

If she had been the one injured instead of Xiao Wu, the Sword Douluo from the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect would have already skinned Yu Xiaogang alive to vent his rage.

Even Flender, for once, didn't defend him. He too was furious at Yu Xiaogang's reckless decision.

"Xiao Gang… you'd better pray for yourself."

After saying that, Flender left.

Once he was gone, Oscar and Dai Mubai exchanged glances and followed him out.

Now, only Tang San, Yu Xiaogang, and the unconscious Xiao Wu remained in the room.

"Xiao San… teacher… I've wronged you," Yu Xiaogang said quietly, lowering his head.

At that time, Yu Xiaogang had been obsessed with using the Zhuge Divine Crossbow to kill San Yue Zhi Dong—he hadn't thought things through.

"Don't say that to me. You should say it to Xiao Wu. I want to be alone for a while."

After speaking, Tang San fell silent again. He sat by Xiao Wu's side, staring at her unconscious face, heart aching unbearably.

Yu Xiaogang watched in silence, equally tormented.

"San Yue Zhi Dong… I, Yu Xiaogang, will kill you—if only to wash away this shame!"
