"Our race was blessed for tending to it, and the first guardian birthed by the tree, who contracted a female elf, came to be known as the Mother of Elves, our first god. She was also the one who sacrificed her life alongside the World Tree to preserve our people in our previous home."
"Yes," Cyrandel replied. "And the World Tree did not shape us like other beings. Through its blessing, the high elves were born, capable of living for up to two thousand, or even three thousand, years. The normal elves, who once lived barely seventy to a hundred years like humans, now reach lifespans of seven hundred to a thousand."
She leaned back as the soft glow from the mana lamps traced the edges of her face.
