"Eric, the thing behind you is..." Thomas pointed at the small gray bird behind Eric's back, asking curiously.
Luci stepped forward to touch it. Seeing the vine on Gray's beak, she couldn't help but laugh and say:
"Wow, is this the egg you brought back? It really hatched? Oh my, why is its beak tied up like this?"
The fledgling's downy feathers looked soft, truly making it hard for anyone to refuse. She pretended not to see Gray's wary gaze, reaching out to place her hand on the fledgling's head and vigorously rubbing it a few times.
"It just hatched a few days ago. I named it Gray. It's still small, and the cubs like playing with it, so I was worried it might hurt them."
