HARPER
Dominic Fletcher.
The name echoed over and over in my head as I stood rooted to the spot, my heart thundering so loudly I could hear it. My ears roared as the noise around me grew louder and louder, until it faded into a high-pitched ring.
He was here. How? Why?
Did he come here to find me? Did he get the information from Clara? No. No, I wasn't ready to see him!
Not when my life was finally back on track. Not when everything was going exactly the way I wanted. I had someone I desired now. I had my children with me. I didn't want to return to my past. That miserable life where I meant nothing. A life filled with secrets and lies.
"Babe?"
I flinched, staggering backward as Julian reached for me. My eyes snapped to his, and I saw the worry swimming in those brown depths.
"Are you alright?" he asked.
I shook my head, then nodded, forcing a smile that quickly twisted into a grimace. He stepped closer, reaching for me again.
