HARPER
"Will you read me a story, Daddy?"
I turned to Julian, who had been standing quietly in the room while I tucked the children into bed.
Since we were staying in a hotel and wanted to keep the kids together, we had taken two separate rooms. One for Julian and me, and the second for the children.
Thankfully, there were separate beds because Lila hated sharing, which was for the best since she tended to kick people out of bed in her sleep.
I would have hated for Nico, or worse Rowan, to come running to me in the middle of the night to complain.
I groaned, turning to Julian. "Finally, your turn."
He nodded and strode toward the bed. He took the book I handed him, a story about dragons and princesses. I stroked Lila's hair as he began to read. It took only a few seconds before she was knocked out cold.
Julian and I exchanged a glance, and knowing what it meant, we rose from the bed, checked on the boys, and quietly slipped out of the room and into ours.
