Solvane was locked in a heated battle with the human blob.
So far, he had proven to be near-indestructible. He was just like a slime from the Manhwas she had read in the past.
'If only those comics explained how to kill these darn slimes…'
The only reason she had even survived this long was because her shadow element seemed to be able to do some level of damage to the blob.
But it was dragging into a battle of attrition, and Solvane wasn't sure who would gas out first.
It was nighttime, meaning she was far stronger than any other time of the day.
Her shadow element meant she received a passive boost whenever she was out at night, and her vampire made those buffs even more potent.
But the blob was well… a blob.
It was like a human sponge, and while Solvane was finding it difficult to harm it, it could harm her if it landed one good hit… while absorbing everything she threw at it.
"Are you getting tired, kid?" The blob scoffed, waving its dark hands in the air. "You know, I would have just called it a day, but after all this fighting, I need to eat, you know?"
Ignoring his comment, Solvane took a quick glance at her environment, taking note of everything that could be of use.
'He can only devour solid objects…' she thought, then her eyes locked on a structure some distance away from them.
'That could work…'
"Hey, I'm talking to you, kid!"
The blob screamed at the top of his voice, sending a dark tentacle spiraling in her direction.
Solvane waved her hand in the direction of the strike—
Bang!
Her shadow clashed against the tentacle, creating a shockwave that cut through the area.
But more tentacles shot out of the blob, each one larger than the next.
The shadows around Solvane suddenly climbed up her body, surrounding her like a plate of dark, lustreless armour.
The shadows had not fully taken form because it was something she was still getting used to, but it was more than enough to reduce the damage the tentacles would do to her.
Everything happened in the space of two seconds.
She slammed one of the approaching tentacles to the side, the shadows on her hand simmering and bursting apart on contact.
"Tch."
Solvane jumped back as another one crashed into the floor, completely consuming the dirt, then the shadows all around her latched onto her small frame and launched her into the sky.
The tentacles came at her like homing missiles, each one hungry for her soft flesh.
"You can't run, kid!" He screamed with glee, clearly enjoying himself.
Solvane raced through the sky as the tentacles lashed out at her, the dark limbs mere moments away from consuming her feet.
But she kept flying higher and higher until she stretched the limit of how far the blob could extend itself.
The blob cursed, finally moving from its position just so it could reach her.
Now Solvane was hovering right next to the building of the commission, her eyes locked on the blob as it closed the distance between them.
"You little insect, why can't you just stay still and be eaten like a good girl, huh?"
Solvane stared darkly at the monster, then a dark smile curled up her lips, although the blob could not see it.
Vwhoosh!
Suddenly, all around the blob, the shadows suddenly shot up, wrapping themselves around him to hold him in place.
The shadows pressed against its fluid body, forming a net-like structure to keep everything caged in.
The blob clicked its non-existent tongue. "How many times do you need to try before you know that you can't harm me—"
Creak!
His words were interrupted by a loud grating sound coming from above, and then when he noticed what was happening, he gasped.
"Wait… no!"
The blob suddenly intensified its efforts to break free, the shadows sizzling faster.
But just as a shadow would melt away, another one was there waiting to replace the last.
"What the hell are you trying to do, let me go this instant!"
Solvane let out a small evil laugh as she watched it struggle.
Behind her was the cause of the blob's panic, a large water tank big enough to flood half of the yard.
"First of all, I am not a kid, you pile of poop!" She shouted.
The blob was livid. "What! Do you have a death wish? Who are you calling a—"
Swish!
One of the stands holding the tank upright was sliced off, causing the tank to tilt over, moments away from spilling.
"Okay! Wait, wait!!"
Solvane made a clicking sound with her tongue. "Tsk tsk tsk… you can only absorb solid objects efficiently, right?"
"I wonder… what would happen when I overload your quirk?" She said, stroking the water tank.
The blob suddenly erupted like a bomb, consuming the shadows faster than they could form.
But it was already far too late.
Whoosh!
The entire tank tilted over, sending a flood of water tumbling down.
Some of the water splashed, soaking Solvane, but she just floated in the sky, watching as the raging current consumed the blob whole.
The blob screamed, his voice sounding like a man gurgling water as his body spasmed like it was glitching.
Solvane had noticed it during their fight, no matter what the blob touched, he consumed it whether he wanted to or not.
Her shadows were not solid, so it was the only thing that she had that could harm him.
But when she saw the water tank… she knew she had struck gold.
His body was continuously trying to absorb the water unwillingly. The turbulent water was unstable, and it was mixing with his body, destroying his framework.
It was more than torture, it was hell.
Shortly after, as the water settled, the blob stood still, smeared across the floor like black paint.
"I guess that settles it…"
Solvane glanced at the building and frowned. A huge part of the roof had been shattered by the force of the water, and the ground was now muddy.
The damage she had caused to the building was definitely far more than she could ever hope to afford.
She sighed, her shoulders slumping.
"Sakura…"
"Yes?" A voice came from her earpiece.
Solvane glanced at the large hole. "This looks like a natural accident, right? Surely they won't notice, right?"
Sakura was silent for a few seconds before she spoke.
"No, Solvane, they will definitely notice."
"Darn it!"
