The halls of the Hero Commission were just like they had been in the morning, only this time, it looked more like a high level security base than an actual commission.
The ceiling was lined with rail guns, pulse beams, smoke bombs, lasers, missile launchers?! And more cameras than were actually needed.
All aimed at him.
Kyle sighed at the hopelessness of their situation.
The speakers suddenly buzzed and a nervous voice came from the other side.
"Midnight vigilante! Do you know where you are?! How dare you trespass on the commission grounds!"
"Your stance has been viewed to be neutral by the Commission, although you have violated multiple Commission laws by acting without a permit, I, the director, am willing to overlook them."
"Turn back now, and we can go back to the way things were, no need to overcomplicate things!"
Kyle chuckled.
It was obvious that all the man was sprouting were lies. Even if he was to make a deal with him, a deal with a mere director was as fickle as the paper it is etched on.
Just one word from those at the top was more than enough to overturn his decision.
It was obvious that he was doing everything possible just so that he could get Kyle to leave, that way they would have protected the secret they had so desperately tried to hide.
"Mr Director, you speak like you have all the leverage here, but it's not me cowering behind the safety of his office."
He paused and stroked his chin as he stared at the camera.
"I see everything you do…"
"The way you walk from wall to wall, sweating like a pig, just praying that I don't lay my hands on you."
"Yet, you deepen your voice and swallow air to sound in charge of the situation, when in reality."
"You will dance to whatever tune I play."
The hall was eerily quiet for a few seconds.
"Y-you bastard! How dare you work against the heroes, villainous scum!" the man spat.
"You, a mere criminal, dares to stand against the noble work that we, the Hero Commission, have perpetrated for years?"
Kyle chuckled.
"Noble work, what noble work?"
He sighed as he stared right at the camera. "Kidnapping people? Making deals with the very criminals you claim to spite?"
Then his voice ran cold.
"Human experiments?"
"Tell me, director, what part of your work do you deem to be… noble?"
He folded his arms across his chest. "If your work is indeed noble, then surely, you wouldn't mind if I looked into your special room?"
Up in his office, the director of the Hero Commission paled, sweating buckets, his eyes as wide as saucers.
"Impossible!" He screamed, his mic set on mute.
Cold sweat ran down his back as he stared at the man in black. "How does he know about this?!"
The Commission secrets were so confidential that even he, the director, was not privy to the details of their activities.
Not even the heroes knew. How then did a mere vigilante who had just showed up know everything?!
By the time he pushed his mic button to speak, the confidence had left his voice.
"Midnight vigilante, according to Commission laws, I will now enforce capital punishment."
'This man cannot be allowed to live!' He thought.
Kyle smirked. "Heh, did I strike a nerve?"
A ticking sound reached his ears as the rail guns began to spin, the plasma blasters were sizzling and all other weapons were warming up as well.
And then—
Bang!
Bullets cut through the wind, creating minor distortions as they tore through the air, the wind burning hot as lasers soared through and an explosive blast erupted as a missile was launched.
But Kyle stared at everything with an indifferent gaze.
His senses were firing at a hundred percent, his vampiric vision tracing the paths the bullets would take before they even fired.
Red currents pulsed around his body, sending pain folding through him like wildfire, but that pain was what it took to ignite every nerve in his body.
He took a step forward, dodging a wave of bullets with ease, tilted his head to the side as a laser cut past him, then using his hand, he slapped away a missile as though it was nothing but a kite.
The explosion shattered the side of the building, filling the room with dust and debris, all of which Kyle stepped over, still looking perfectly calm.
Then he stopped and raised his fist, sending a blow rippling through the space.
Bang!
The hall was blown apart in an instant. Weapons lay by the sides, broken and sparking, walls had crumbled, cameras had burned, all due to one punch.
Kyle walked over everything and went deeper into the Commission, where more weapons were waiting for him.
Same ol' same ol'.
Everything fell. The advanced technology the Commission had spent millions purchasing shattered as though they were mere trinkets.
After destroying his way to the suspicious room, Kyle had already destroyed several millions worth of technology and taken down several agents.
Now standing in front of the large door, Kyle frowned as he watched it.
'An alloy door coated in lead… just like I thought.'
He pulled his hand back, a light blue energy condensing in his fists and causing his clothes to flutter in the wind it was generating.
'I made the right choice upgrading this quirk…' he mused. 'Who would have thought blowing things up would be so fun?'
"Now, let's see what the Hero Commission is hiding."
Booom!
His blow clashed against the indomitable alloy of the door, sending a gust of explosive wind crashing against it.
The door creaked, heavy metal hinges, frame and all, folding under the force. The door that was meant to withstand even the most powerful heroes managed to hold him back for a few seconds.
But it was a futile struggle.
Moments later, the door caved, metal iron bent inward, hinges squeezed like they were paper, and then the door to the secret room split open.
But before he entered, Kyle paused and said, "You've been following me all this time."
He glanced to the side, where darkness had encroached on the halls.
Then he smiled.
"Aren't you going to stop me?"
"….Hawks."
