2 days have passed and max got used to the master sword's power that was absorbed by his blade.
he actually tested the master sword itself and he can actually amplify it's power and he used it on some monsters but there was a problem with it.
It was rans out of energy too quickly and mind you max actually can imbue his energy and strengthen his weapons.
So the master sword should have an unlimited amount of energy thanks to him but it seems that the sword itself only strengthen by sacred power.
And every time it breaks it takes 10 minutes for it return to normal.
Yeah max was not having that.
His katana was more durable than this and when it breaks all he has to do is reattach the shards and the it will become stronger.
Mind you he can't just break his own blade over and over and become super powerful.
Because how it works is like a muscle the more it breaks the more fragile it will become.
So he has to give the blade time to adapt to its new strength.
Well that's enough from what has max done over the two days.
Currently him and Revali were called up by the king about his training with the champions.
Yeah Zelda did him a favor by not telling her daddy about his black arm abilities because god knows how he will react.
In the ages of knights and all that they see anything black as evil which mind you sometimes isn't wrong but that doesn't mean it is.
Currently him and revali were called by the king about max's training which as a friendly reminder he doesn't need.
Rhoam: thank you for coming. You two have been called because I figured it's time to begin the hero's training. And we don't know when calamity ganon will rise again so we must make sure that he's properly trained quickly.
He then turned his attention to revali who had his arms crossed.
Rhoam: Revali as the champion of the rito I'm appointing you as his trainer in the art of archery.
Revali looked at max who looked back both of them didn't like each other for different reasons.
Max didn't like Revali because he's an asshole.
As for Revali's reason? He felt like his pride and ego were hurt by being in the support role for the hero and that rubbed him the wrong way.
Impa noticed the tension between the two and decided to make them snap out of it.
Impa: whatever problems you two have it doesn't matter we have the threat of calamity ganon and we need all of our heads together.
Max and Revali reluctantly agreed to the terms but on one positive thing Revali won't have to do is actually train max because he seems to have skill of his own.
After that happened max went to the library to grab some books about ritos.
Mind you he's no reader but a benefit his phone has an app that analyzes words and speaks it out loud.
Max was currently under the same trees he used as a training spot he had his earbuds out and connected and listened to the app.
However he had the feeling that he was being watched and he knew exactly who it was.
Max: you know if keep stalking me you'll be called a creep.
From out of the trees Zelda came out and she seemed offended by max's words.
Zelda: I am not some stalker I was just curious.
Max: if you are curious you should just come up to me and talk and you already stalked me twice.
Zelda: how did you I-
Max: that's my little secret sister. Now what do you want? I'm kinda busy.
Zelda: you aren't doing anything you are just looking at your phone.
Max: that's what you think. But I'm not exactly fit for reading books but this baby is doing the reading for me.
That peaked Zelda's attention.
Zelda: it's reading for you?
Max: yup. Honestly I'm too lazy to read books and I loose track easily.
Zelda then noticed the earbuds on max's ears.
Zelda: what are does things on your ears?
Max: oh these. These are ear buds they were made with the purpose of you listen to your own stuff privately.
Zelda: may I-
Max: sure I don't mind.
Max gave Zelda his ear bud and when he hit play on his phone the ai voice started to read again.
Zelda was fascinated by the technology of and she was getting more and more interested in what else max has to offer.
Zelda: this is unbelievable. How can such wonders like this even created?
Max: technicians. And trails and errors I guess.
Zelda: did your people made this?
Max: yup the first model of phones used to be like this.
He tapped away at a search app and Zelda watched in fascination as max showed her the first few phone models and Zelda could tell that compared to what max has now it was more advanced she was too excited and she snatched his phone and looked at it was stars in her eyes.
Zelda: amazing. Simply incredible. You can look up things from your past and you can do so much more with it. We got to see if we can do something similar with the shiekah slate-
Before she could continue a black whip snatched the phone out of her hands and to its owner.
Max gave Zelda a stink eye and Zelda felt embarrassed by her childish display.
Zelda: I highly apologize for my behavior. I just love researching accent stuff. And your phone it's just giving a bunch of ideas of how the shiekah slate works.
Max: I get it. But don't snatch my damn phone.
Zelda: I'm sorry
There was an awkward moment of silence until Zelda noticed that max was reading books about ritos.
Zelda: why are you reading books about ritos?
Max: your daddy is forcing me to train with bird fucker.
Zelda: are you referring to Revali?
Max: yeah him. He's a prick and I really don't like him especially since he started to press me when I made it very clear that I don't give too shits about this whole hero thing.
Zelda frowned at this because every time max said he wasn't a hero gave her a pang of fear that he would just walk away in the face of calamity.
She shook her head at that thought because max already agreed to get rid of ganon but still she had to ask.
Zelda: why do you keep saying that you aren't a hero? You did the complete opposite of a hero when you saved us in the blood moon.
Max: that's because 1 your kinda important along with the other champions and you and aside from birdie the other champions are cool and 2 if I let you die your daddy is gonna have my head. And the 3th reason is because I kinda grew to like you and the other champions dispite me being here for a few days.
Zelda: why do you keep saying that you aren't a hero?
Max let out a sigh and pinched the bridge of his nose:
Max: Zelda there's no such things as heroes or villains there just consepts to me and I don't believe in good or evil. To me it depends on the individual who I'm dealing with.
He looked at Zelda straight in the eye and shot his honestly bullet.
Max: if it was days before you summoned me I would have left you and the other champs to die. Because you literally dragged me out of my home where mind you I have a family of my own and friends and even if I do go back for all I know they could be dead or decades have passed.
Zelda had to process those harsh words and it stung that the fact max would leave her behind. But his reason was understandable if Zelda was taken away from hyrule and to another world she wouldn't be happy either.
Max saw that he might have hurt her feelings and gave out a sigh and decided to not be a dick.
Max: look I'm not the kind of person who just interferes when someone's in danger because frankly I don't know them but if it was like a relative of a friend or a neighbor that says hi from time to time I would help because to me the only people I have loyalty to is to those I care for and people who are loyal to me back. It's a matter of respecting one another. Like you. At first I thought you were some stuck up princess but some far you showed that you aren't that and the other champions apart from Revali showed me respect so I will respect you in return.
Zelda: so are you saying that you would only help people that you know or have a personal connection to?
Max: yup. I was betrayed once by two people I thought I could absolutely trust but I got a literal stab in the back for that. And from there I learned that only people who actually do something to show absolute loyalty and respect to me I will do the same to said person. Don't mistake this as me being some sort of king it's just my personal opinion of the human nature.
Zelda could see were he was coming from not personally but she can comprehend the concept and she's thankful that she a princess with humility otherwise max and her would be at each other's throats.
Max: well enough about my depressed ideals. What can you tell me about the ritos?
Zelda: well ritos have been around since the beginning of hyrule's history and-
Max stopped Zelda because he wasn't interested in a history lesson.
Max: stop. I'm not interested in a story about the ritos I just want to know how they behave or what do they do and other stuff I'm not really one to care for the past.
Zelda: oh. I apologize. Well ritos have a unique magic that allows them to generate winds that they can use to take off into the air and they are actually interactive race and thier village is small but they have other spots like a flight training field for rito warriors. That's actually were I asked Revali to join us.
Max: so are all ritos as stuck up as Revali? Or it's just him?
Zelda: no I think it's just him. Like I said ritos aren't that different from us hylians and like some we develop different personalities.
Max: so the ritos are actually cool. That's nice to know.
Zelda: were you worried that the ritos were like revali?
Max: yup. I'm gonna be honest I don't like that prick he constantly gets on my nerves and not mention he can tell just by his voice that he thinks he's all of that.
Zelda: I know that his Personality is. complicated but he's one of the most skilled archer of all the ritos and he's fast in the air faster than any ritos that's on the reasons he was recruited as a champion.
Max: let me guess the other reason. It's because of the Divine beast thing?
Zelda: yes vah medoh.
Max: hey. can I ask something. You were supposed to have some kind of special power to seal ganon or whatever right? Do you have it.
That sudden question stunned her because how was she supposed to answer that question when she didn't have unlocked the power of the goddess.
Max looked at her reaction and he put together that she didn't have it.
Max: I guess by your reaction you don't have it.
Zelda: o-of course I do I just. I just have trouble with controlling it.
Max: you say control but it looks like you made zero progress.
Zelda: well. I would have unlocked it sooner if my mother didn't die, maybe then someone would have teached me how to use it.
Max: I figured that,that was the case I didn't see any queen beside your dad. Actually how did your mom died?
Zelda: why do you want to know?
Max: I have a small theory about her death.
Zelda: well my mom died when I was young because she very went ill.
Max: mmm. I have a theory that when you were born the power of the goddess passed on to you and it's possible that it had bad side effects and it's probably what killed her.
That struck Zelda like a punch in the gut.
Zelda: are you saying that my mother died because-
Max: before you continue I want to stop you before you do anything stupid.
Max gave Zelda a soft look.
Max: look if your mom probably knew that once she gives birth to you she would die but if she did so anyway it meant that she was fully prepared to fade away. So don't blame yourself. If anything that shows that your mom still loves you even if she didn't last long she still had you.
Zelda though back on the very few memories of her mom and she did remember that her mother just showed her love and nothing else.
So she guessed that max was right. And that brought her to tears. She checked every book about the power of the goddess and she had a suspicion that this power got her mother killed somehow and it's now confirmed.
Zelda: I guess when you put like that. My mom did still love me dispite the little time she had left.
Max: like I said it's a theory it's possible I'm wrong or just thinking too much into this goddess power. But lucky you that your biological mother loved you because my parents didn't give too shits about me
Zelda: why do you say that?
Max didn't answer he just got up and dusted himself off.
Max: I don't want to talk about it. I'm gonna get ready because honestly I just want to get this whole training with that chicken over with.
Zelda watches Max's back and she was getting more and more curious about him.
Not only did she found out more about his phone and his world but she understood him more than before.
And the curious side of her was itching for information about him because this was her chance to learn about another world different then her own and she wasn't gonna let that pass and she had an idea.
After max packed up some stuff to leave for rito village he was told were it was exactly and they offered him a horse but he declined it.
Because he can fly. Obviously.
But since he was going to go to where Revali is he's not in a hurry if anything walking alone and taking his time would be good for him to have some alone time to think.
Or at least that was the plan.
He heard the sounds of a horse running and when he turned he saw Zelda riding it and stopped in front of him.
Max: what the hell?
Zelda: what? I can't come along?
Max: no I don't have a problem with you coming. My problem is why did you follow me?
Zelda: I want to continue our conversation and plus I've wanted to get sometime away from my father.
Max: daddy issues?
Zelda: more like over reacting. First he assigns you as my personal knight when I don't need a escort and not to mention I just-
Max: he's pushing you to unlock your power?
Zelda just nodded.
Max looked at the horse and then back at Zelda.
Max: you know a place to keep this guy?
Moments later they left the horse in a nearby stable and max and Zelda went on foot they were gonna pick up the horse when they leave for rito village.
But max noticed that Zelda paid with rubbies and when he asked about it Zelda corrected it him on the name and they are called rupees which was a bit weird but it wasn't important.
Currently they were walking on a small forest and Zelda decided to ask max about something that she was itching to ask.
Zelda: max back in the forest what do you mean by your an exorcist I don't think I heard that world before.
Max was quiet because he thought about actually telling her.
And yes exorcist are supposed to be secretive and all of that but this is literally another world and one that has magic common knowledge and not to mention what could they do with the information he gives them?
And also Zelda did him a solid by not telling her daddy or anyone about his other abilities.
So in conclusion max thought that telling Zelda wouldn't have consequences.
Max: what I mean by exorcist is that it's my occupation.
Zelda: so was that what you were before coming here?
Max gave her a stink eye.
Max: if you mean by kidnapping/dragging me here then yeah.
Zelda had an exasperated look back at him.
Zelda: are you ever gonna let that go?
Max: no I'm not and I'm probably still gonna have that over your head.
Zelda just let out a sigh of defeat on one hand she gets why max was hitting her with that remark but on the other hand it stings because now that she had sometime to think about it if she was in Max's position she wouldn't let it go either.
Zelda and max exited out of the small forest and they were in an open field and they could see a mountains but one that stick out was one that looked like stick with a beak and above it was a mechanical bird that Zelda recognized.
Zelda: look over there it's rito village right there and there's vah medoh above it
Max looked at the mechanical bird from what he could see and he had to admit for an world that had a very low rate of technology the bird looked pretty well built and it not to mention he can tell it was huge.
Max: not bad for a world with low level of tech.
Zelda: tech? Oh technology I get it, I was confused by it at first but it clicked. But what do you mean low level of technology?
Max: not to brag but my worlds tech is highly advanced and we're even developing a.is
Zelda: a.i?
Max: I'm not a tech head but what an a.i is an artificial intelligence. Artificial means that it's man made data and they put some programming that learns or something among those lines like I said I'm not an expert.
Zelda Listened to max and she was more intrigued by wonder of Max's world.
Zelda: so it's like if a guardian could talk? Like us?
Max: if you mean those bots I've seen around the place then yeah.
Zelda: wow simply amazing if we could combine the sheikah technology with an a.i it would revolutionary!
Max: I wouldn't push it. Like I said it's in it's starting phase or something like that so yeah.
They started to walk again but once again Zelda couldn't stop being curious.
Zelda: so if I may ask. How technologically advanced is your world?
Max: more than yours. We don't use horses instead we have these machines called cars image the like how divine beasts have pilots but cars are like big boxes to fit 5 people and they can drive fast in the ground and they went through a lot of processes they went through wagons to straight cool in many ways.
Zelda: can you show me?
Max: huh? Oh yeah I can.
He took out his phone and pulled out some pictures of cars and showed it to Zelda.
Zelda looked at the cars with stars in her eyes
Zelda: wow incredible they look so unique.
Max: the ones that looked more sharp are the ones that are made mainly for speed while others are just for fast travel.
Zelda: what else can day do?
Max: not much just be really fast all though people who work in these cars demand a lot of money.
Max pointed at some cars that are Lamborghini.
Zelda: how much do they cost?
Max: I don't know if this means anything to you but these type are above 715,000 dollars and your terms that's how much it cost in rupees.
Zelda blinked once and twice.
Sure she was a princess and rupees weren't a problem but even she can admit that that amount of currency is absurd.
Zelda: there's no way people in your world can buy that can day?
Max: yes they can. But only the rich ones can buy this just to flex their wealth at us comminers.
Zelda: do you have one?
Max just scoffed at that.
Max: I wish. but I'm not picky I go for whatever works I don't really care much for style. Also I'm not in age to drive.
Zelda: what do you mean?
Max: unlike your world my world has a controlled by a political system and government we don't have kingdoms or kings,queens,princesses or princes, only the rich with power. And you have to go through a lot of paperwork and management to get a license to drive. But currently I'm a year under aged so I'm 17 and I need to be 18 for me to drive legally and that involves a lot of paperwork.
Zelda listen and she was starting to realize that max's world was probably a bit more complicated that she thought because she gets a few things but the political system in his world is more complicated than her's.
Max looked at Zelda who was somewhat lost but he didn't blame her after all the world of politics and other stuff doesn't have anything to do with him.
Because EXO basically do the paperwork for their employees so when max turns 18 he would already have permission to start a driving test and get his license but that was his choice if he was ready.
Max: let's forget about that let's just-
Before he could continue he suddenly sensed hostility and he used his black arms to turn his arm into a blade and he clashed against a sickle and he kicked the attacker.
The attack rolled on the ground use the momentum of max's kick to get some distance.
Max got a good look of the attacker they were wearing black and red with a ninja like appearance while also wearing a mask of an upside down teardrop and a ponytail.
2 more came out from a smoke screen with sickles.
Max: who the hell are these ninja rejects?
Zelda: be careful those are yiga clan members.
Max looked at the upside down teardrop and remembered that rhoam's advisor had one but in the opposite position.
Max: let me guess these guys are like a rouge version of the shiekah?
Zelda: yeah. How did-
Max: I saw the teardrop in their masks it's not exactly rocket science.
It was then that the yiga clan started talking.
Yiga 1: hero of hyrule give-
Max: I'm gonna stop you right there don't call me that and second of all if you call me hero I'm gonna kick your ass back to your mommy's womb.
There was a moment of silence and the 3 yiga clan members were surprised by the fact that the supposed hero of hyrule doesn't even want to be called one and another fact is that he interrupted them.
Max decided to skip the annoying monologue.
Max then looked at you the audiences and time stopped around him.
(Max: what did you expect? Some sort of anime or cartoonish moment were I listen to the bad guy's monologue? Please if there's one time I'm gonna listen to a monologue it's when it's actually important or just one that explains something I don't get. And yes I can break the 4th wall too but only once in a while)
Back in real time max lean to whisper to Zelda to ask a question.
Max: hey Zelda can I kill these guy?
Zelda: huh? Are you asking me if you can kill these yiga clan?
Max: just to make sure that you don't want me to go too far or just go wild.
Zelda: well you can but don't go too far.
Max: fine by me.
Before he can go ahead Zelda stopped him.
Zelda: wait you fool they are armed you can't fight bare handed.
Max: says who?
Zelda: says the one who's trying to-
She couldn't finish the yiga finally snapped out thier suprised and they charged at them.
Zelda tired to get max to run but Max then disappears in a black blur and he appeared in front of a yiga member with his fist cogged back and black energy compressed into his arm.
He shut his fist into the yiga member's stomach and the strength of the punch lifted his body off the ground and then a shotgun like effect exploded from the impacted area and sent him fly towards a small cliff at a small hill.
Both Zelda and the 2 yiga members were surprised and shocked by this display of bare strength.
Everyone one In hyrule used a weapon and fighting unarmed is like asking for a death wish but this was a display of pure strength.
Max then turned his attention to another yiga but he started to run away but black whips wrapped around him max gave a strong tug cause the tied up yiga to go to him.
Max then lined up his arm and when the yiga was close enough he did a lariat to the back of the head of and causing that the poor bastard had a full fledged meal of dirty and ragdolled across the ground until he fell unconscious.
The one unharmed yoga member looked at his two knocked out members.
They thought that since the hero was just summoned they would easily jump him and getting the princess wasn't part of the plan but hey two birds in one stone but they didn't account for the hero to have some sort of dark magic and fight unarmed.
The one remaining yiga looked at max with a bit of fear and when max turned to look at him they bounced and they made a ninjutsu spell and teleported away leaving his fellow yiga members.
Max: tsk boring.
Zelda was off to the side watching in shocked as max easily delt with the yiga who are the most troublesome group in hyrule and they are known for their fast and their disguises but max make them look like jokes especially when and he fought without a weapon.
Zelda: how did.
Max: why are you suprised? Your body is a weapon too sure you can use a sword and call it a weapon. But if you lose it your unarmed yeah but not defenseless like a blade you have to sharpen your body to defend yourself when you don't have a weapon.
Zelda processed the words of max and she looked at the hand that the triforce symbol appeared in her hand and she felt a tang of inspiration but the problem is that she doesn't know how do it.
If max is saying that she has to actually train physically she won't be able to because she's not fit for it and it isn't befitting of a princess to do so but still she was running out of options but she would have to think about if max can actually help her or not because whatever he uses might be far different than sacred power.
Max: come let's get a move on to that bird nest or else Revali will have a reason to annoy me.
They continued there way but Zelda watched Max's arm the arm that he he used to punch the yiga and sent him flying.
She also remembered seeing black flamed energy and it gave the same feeling as the black matter he used to create his wings but the black flames are pure energy.
This was eating away at her because she kept having a feeling that max might actually help her with her own power but she didn't want to come off as desperate dispite him already knowing.
Her thoughts were cut off when max spoke up.
Max: I can feel your eyes on me. What's the deal?
Zelda: huh? I don't what you're talking about.
Max: zel I wasn't born yesterday you want to ask something what is it?
Zelda was a bit taken aback my the nickname max gave her but when they made eye contact Zelda just let out a sigh.
Zelda: I saw that black energy on your hands and it reminded me of the power of the goddess. I've been wondering what is that black energy?
Max looked at Zelda and he remembered that he decided it was okay to tell her about the exorcist thing but things went a different direction.
He took the hand he used and focused his black spiritual energy into it causing black energy flames to surround his hand.
Zelda looked at max's hand and she was mesmerized by the black energy and she was about to touch it but max turned off his energy and put his hand back into his pocket.
Max: I wouldn't recommend touching it. People who touch my black energy get drained. But of course I can control it I'm just teasing you.
Zelda saw his smirk and she huffed at him.
After having the satisfaction of teasing Zelda he decided to get to the point.
Max: that black energy is my own spiritual energy. My soul is like the main power source but my body is also a part of my existence so when I use it, it comes in a spiritual form.
Zelda was now hooked into this new bit of information and max can tell dispite not seeing her that she wanted to know more.
Max: in my world there a spiritual side of it but the common folk aren't aware and for good reason.
Zelda: why's that? Do spirits don't make contact with your people.
Max: first. The only term I consider my people is my friends and family. And second the reason why the spiritual side of the world is hidden it's because humans don't have a good track record.
Zelda: why?
Max: many reasons. We are greedy,selfish,horndogs, and some times idiotic. Currently in my world a country called Russian is attacking a neighbor place called Ukraine for some stupid reason and not to mention the world war 1 and 2 those two evens were completely pointless because at the end no one would have one.
Zelda couldn't believe what she was hearing sure hyrule had its moments of wars but max's world sounds more chaotic and from he makes it sound humans are dangerous.
Max noticed and decided to lighten up the subject.
Max: don't worry there isn't a war going on or anything well aside from the attack on Ukraine but all nations are secretly providing Ukraine with weapons to push back Russia.
At that Zelda let out a sigh of relief
Zelda: thank the goddess. But you make it sound like humans are dangerous.
Max just shrugged in a "what can you do"motion
Max: yeah because we kinda are. And that's why the spiritual side of the world is hidden. And think of exorcist like the guards who make sure things are in order.
Zelda: so that's what you do?
Max: yeah. Exorcists work for an organization named EXO. In public we're are detectives and that's a semi front because the detectives actually-
Zelda had to interrupt him because she didn't understand what a detective was.
Zelda: I'm sorry for interrupting but what is a detective?
Max: huh? Oh right. Well in simple terms detectives are like professional investigators and work in cases with authorities.
Zelda: ah i see. So you are a detective?
Max did a so so motion with his hand.
Max: I'm more like a part timer than official but I'm basically a front liner.
Zelda waited for him to explain.
Max: there two different types of spirits. There's the pure souls were they are basically individuals who accepted there new existence and keep their minds in tack. But then there's lost souls individuals who lost their minds and became rabbid soul eating monsters.
Zelda: why do you make them sound like they were people before?
Max: because they were originally human.
That drew a gasp from her.
Max: it works like this. Think of the soul like something inside a shell. The human body is that shell and when that shell is broken the soul goes free but since the shell and the soul are one in the same the body and soul develop together. Since most people aren't aware of spiritual energy they don't have full development of it and it's in an incomplete state so they are very vulnerable to suffering from the fact that they are technically dead and no longer human and they either have the choice to accept or throw a tantrum.
Zelda: so how do you deal with these lost souls?
Max: we kill them.
Zelda stopped walking and look at max horrified.
Zelda: why would you kill them!? Isn't there a way to-
Max: don't you think we wouldn't have to if we founded another way. Also lost soul are dangerous to both humans and other spirits because there like mad animals and they devour souls and get stronger and not to mention only those with spiritual energy can see them it's something to do with the change in cognition but anyway think about it like this.
Max looked at Zelda dead serious.
If you got turned into a monster would you rather stay a monster forever? Or have someone to lay you to rest?
Zelda didn't know why but that question struck a core but she once again didn't know why.
But she thought about it and if she had no control over herself and she ended up destroying everything around she wouldn't be able to forgive herself and she would-
She bit her lip and rubbed her arm realizing that max had a point if she was to somehow go beserk she wouldn't be able to bare it.
Zelda: I get it. I see that in a way your doing those poor souls a favor.
Max: glad you see the point.
They continue walking and Zelda asked something else.
Zelda: I saw that your energy had a strange reaction when you punched that yiga is that bad?
Max: nah. I actually used a technique called the "single impact"
Zelda: "single impact"?
Max: what I do is that I compress the energy in one part of my body via arms or legs and when the strike something the energy has a shotgun like effect that explodes and do a second bit of damage it's a combination of spiritual and physical power the more stronger I am in both the more powerful a single impact is.
Zelda: shotgun effect?
Max: right I keep forgetting. Here.
He once again pulled out his phone and showed Zelda images of shotguns and explained how they work.
Zelda: I can't believe your people created such unique weapons.
Max: they sometimes do more damage than good. But you get what I mean by that shotgun effect?
Zelda: yes it's truly amazing what you humans can do.
Max: thanks.
He took out his phone and tapped on a video app and he put on one of his ear buds and gave the other to Zelda.
Zelda: I thought that you needed these to read?
