It's been a suspenfull moment ever since the championships got outside the lost forest and were waiting for max to return.
Mipha,Daruk and Zelda were getting worried that he might have been lost.
Urbosa had confidence that max would return because she as the chief heard some of her gerudo having spotted creatures that were tree like and she did her research and they are supporters of the legendary hero.
So she was certain that max was gonna be fine. However.
Revali: that's it I'm going in there to get himself.
Urbosa: don't start your little ego fiasco.
Revali: are you joking we've been waiting for hylia knows what and it's nighttime I'm going drag him out I've wasted enough time.
Daruk: I can't believe I'm saying this but he's right plus max could be in trouble he doesn't have any weapons or armor.
Revali: see?
Urbosa: maybe you didn't read the legends about the hero of legend Revali.
Revali: I beg your pardon?
Mipha: max mentioned little creatures that want to follow them. Perhaps it's those koroks I heard that those little creatures are the children of the great Deku tree.
Urbosa: so you know about those creatures too?
Mipha: yes my little brother ran into one and played with it though I thought it was an imaginary friend but once I read the legends Sidon was very happy to know that he was friends with one of the children the great Deku tree.
Revali: fantastic so while we're here talking about children from an ancient tree our hero is taking his time. I'm going.
Zelda: no I have faith that he's okay and we will wait here.
Revali: princess with all do respect we-
Zelda: we're staying is that understood?
Revali wanted to argue but once the princess acts like it he can't refuse and she won't change her mind.
Revali: fine but if we wait any longer I'm getting him myself no ifs ands or buts.
Zelda: thank you. But still I'm-
Before she continued her along with the champions felt a strong malevolent force in the air.
Daruk: what in the?
A blood red hue glowed and they looked up at the sky and they realized it.
Mipha: oh my hylia. It's a blood moon.
Revali: I told you we should have dragged him out.
Purpleish red smoke gathered around them all mosters that were killed by them returned to life.
Daruk: now it's not the time to complain. Championship no matter what protect the princess!
Back with max with one slash he killed the last bokoblin and they disappeared in purple smoke.
Max: now to get to the others.
He heard a cry and saw the koroks rushing at him.
Max took an knee and one of the korok started talking.
Korok: blood moon scary happens every full moons, blood moon boost mean ganon's power, and blood moon resurrects already dead monsters.
Max got the picture so a blood moon is basically a moment for monster to resurrect and that's thanks to ganon's power increasing on a full moon.
But that mean that the champions and Zelda are in very deep shit.
Max: thanks for letting me know little buddies you probably came to guided me out but don't worry I have my own faster way.
Black matter gathered around his back and to the surprise of the koroks black sharp wings were behind max and his wings flapped and he flew off to help the champions and Zelda.
As for the champions themselves they were holding out the best they can.
Revali was proving air support but keese were harassing him not giving him the chance with support his fellow champion.
Mipha and urbosa were using thier own individual magics water and thunder to keep the monsters at bay but they just keep coming not to mention their skeletal counterparts.
Daruk kept Zelda beside him and protected her out all the champions he had a special magic that he made himself a shield to put it simply but unfortunately he was protecting the princess alone and he was being outnumbered.
Zelda on the other hand just watched as her champions fought for their lives to protect her and she felt so useless.
She was trying awaken her power but nothing happened.
Zelda: please just let me help. I'm not some damsel in distress I'm a princess with the blood of the goddess and yet I'm so useless.
From behind her a hinox loomed over and it was gonna crush her with its hand.
The champions noticed and they cried out for thier princess and all Zelda could do was close her eyes and accept her fate.
But nothing happened.
She opened her eyes in to her shock max was there with black wings behind her while the hand of the hinox clean off.
Max: sorry for the delay I kinda got jumped and came her fast.
Max crouched down to check on Zelda and he saw just some minor bruises and dirt.
The hinox was gonna use its other hand to crush max and Zelda called out for him to be careful but he wasn't worried.
A white blur tacked the hinox and wrapped themselves around the behemoth and with its power jaws and teeth it snaps its neck.
Max: moline get everyone out I'm about to blow this joint.
Moline just nodded and she grabbed every champion including the princess.
Zelda: max! What are you doing!?
Max: trust me you don't want to get caught in the crossfire.
When he thought they were far away enough max turned his attention to monsters around.
All of them looked ready tear him apart but they were only strong in numbers.
Max on the other hand is a walking energy sponge.
He looked at his katana and he focused on the energy the blade absorbed from the master sword and his blade radiated a blue glow.
Max: welp time to give the power of the master sword a try.
He did a small motion in the air and he put the blade above his head with powerful black and blue energy fusing into a dark blue and the monsters felt fear because this was the power of master sword but now it felt ten times more powerful.
Max: kiss all of your asses goodbye!!
Back at the sky the champions were coiled on moline's tail they thought moline was a young dragon in the making.
Revali: hey beast I don't know what you're doing but-
He was cut off when moline twisted her neck for her to glare at the rito warrior.
Moline: if you want to die. Be my guest but consider this the one time I'm being nice to because you are an asshole to my brother.
The champions just realize that moline was talking to them and she call max her brother.
Zelda who meet her but never interact with asked what max was planning.
Zelda: moline what's max doing he's going to be himself killed.
Moline stop and adjusted the position of the 5 for them to look below were max was.
Moline: just enjoy the fireworks.
Before anyone could ask a giant explosion mushroom cloud of dark blue energy appeared and it took a while for the shockwave to hit them like a tidal wave.
Moline: show off.
Zelda: what in the world was that?
Back with max when he swung down his blade a wave of dark blue energy exploded and every monster in the vicinity was destroyed in one fell swoop.
When the smoke cleared max let out a huff and looked at his blade.
It still had the dark blue hue it looks like the master sword and his katana were compatible thanks to black spiritual energy he can absorb energy and it looks like taking the power of the master blade fused into his katana and it seem to fuse with it.
He guessed the reason why the master sword was compatible was because his katana had a lot of his essence and soul or maybe because the master sword is energy within a sword that only those who have the soul of a hero can use whatever they want with it.
Whatever the case it looks like he won't need to swap his blade for another one and he would keep it that way.
He sensed moline getting closer along with the 5.
When the touched ground Zelda ran to him worried but relieved that he was not injured.
Zelda: thank hylia you're alright! But what was that explosion and where did your wings go?
Max: later when weren't out in the open.
Urbosa: sorry boy but that won't pass that was an outrageous amount of power and I can see that you killed all the monsters nearby.
Daruk: no kidding I've had a feeling you were strong but this was not what I expected.
Revali: speaking of which. Did you find the sword that seals the darkness?
Max: yup.
Moline opened her mouth and max pulled out the master sword.
The champion were a bit grossed out at the face that max had such a legendary weapon in the stomach of his sister.
Max: I'll be honest compared to my blade this is nothing special.
Mipha saw the black katana in his hand and she thought that was max's weapon but why doesn he make sound like he didn't use the sword that seals the darkness?
Mipha: you didn't use the darkness sealing sword?
Max: nope I used my own. You didn't notice?
Revali: of course not! We were busy.
Max: right. Anyway I absorbed some of the energy used by the master sword and transferred it to mine and it looks like it fused.
The princess and champions did a double take because nowhere in the legends says that the hero was able to do such a thing.
Zelda: you absorbed the magic of the master sword and transferred it to your own blade?
Max: yup. Me and this baby can absorb energy and use it to our own will and honestly I think it went well.
Revali: well how!? Don't you realize what you did you buffoon? You took the power of ancient weapon and-
Max: I'm aware and so fare it doesn't seem to have any side effects.
He demonstrated by putting both blades in an x formation and the black blade start to be surrounded by black energy while the master sword was surrounded by blue sacred blue energy.
The blue energy then transferred to his own blade and when it was drained the master sword glowed again.
The champions and princesses were stunned by the display and were somewhat glad that the master sword was still in one piece.
Max: mmm looks like this thing still has some juice but I think I tested my luck enough with this.
Zelda: you fool!
Max jumped a bit by Zelda's shout.
Zelda: the master sword is a sacred weapon and you just drained it from its power what if you have to use it for ganon and it's useless!
Max: it's fine.
He tossed the master sword and moline ate it storing it in her pocket dimension stomach.
Max: And beside the sword itself seen to be harmless and it doesn't look like it had any lasting damage.
Urbosa: why did you even do that?
Max: because I'm more used to this weapon and this blade isn't just a normal weapon unlike the master sword this blade when I first got it was weak but it had a benefit every time it broke I can reattach it and it became stronger and also.
He threw his weapon into a tree but before the blade stabbed into the tree it retracted back into Max's hands.
The champions and princess were stunned once more they'd never seen a weapon that returned to their wielders
Max: this blade grows with the and over the fights I've been in it grew to a point that became a soul bound weapon. Which means this blade is a part of me and my soul.
The way he said that with pride shook the them and they felt the best behind his words.
Max wasn't a hero he was an anomaly that is the complete opposite of the heroes of legend he was powerfull more than expected and not to mention he was more expressive than the heroes of the past.
Zelda just had to ask the question that was on everyone's mind.
Zelda: max, what in the name of hylia are you?
Max: me?
He spun his blade between his fingers and put it on his shoulder and had a smirk on him.
Max: I'm max McKnight. And I'm an exorcist.
After a while the group decided to go back to hyrule castle were the king expressed his gratitude for max saving Zelda and the champions along with getting the master sword.
But Zelda just looked at max with uncertainty.
Unlike her. max seemed to make things look so easy combat power,control and the fact that he was the hero of legend.
But what bothered her was the fact that max even back in his world was this powerful and he shrugs it off like it's nothing. Not mention when she first summoned him she thought she was gonna have a fellow struggling soul but no.
And that frustrated her she tired everything from praying and other methods and nothing works the one moment it did work it was when she summoned max and she felt the feeling of the sealing power in her body.
But at soon as it came it disappeared completely.
Zelda felt jealous of max because not only he was putting all other past heroes to shame and he might be able to take down all of the champions by himself if the explosion was anything to show for.
She didn't tell anyone about Max being more powerful than he leads on but still it made her feel inadequate.
She was in her room with the shiekah slate in her hands to distract her but that was failing.
But when she looked out the window she saw max who was out in the sun under a batch of trees swinging his blade in practice motions.
She watched him with curiosity and then to her surprise max practiced unarmed combat.
Everyone in hyrule used a weapon but seeing max training in unarmed combat was unique.
She also noticed him doing on his phone and put two devices on his ears and he started to dance with moves that are completely alien for her.
This made her realize something even though max is a walking one man army he was a normal person. Or human as he's called.
And his phone might give her some idea of how the Shiekah slate work.
And the fact that max's world made him strong like this she might learn something that can help her unlock her power.
But only hylia knows if that will work.
