Arthur woke up, already annoyed by the rapid, loud knocking on his door.
Getting up, he dressed himself in fresh clothing, and opening the door, he saw Sunny.
"What do you want, can't you let a man rest?"
Arthur asked with a scowl.
Sunny, however, scowled back, "It's already past lunch, why are you even sleeping?".
Arthur paused his retort, bewildered. He looked at the clock in his room, and sure enough, it was past lunch.
"Okay, I'm listening." A small smile grew on Sunny's face, and he beckoned him to follow.
"Yeah, I would, but like if it isn't urgent, I'm gonna take a shower", Sunny sniffed the air only to recoil, waving him off.
"Damnation! Go shower, you stink." Arthur let out a chuckle and closed the door.
15 minutes later he was out and following Sunny.
Then, soon after entering the cafeteria, Arthur was greeted by many, accepting their thanks and gratitude with an easy fake smile. He followed Sunny, who was leading him to his cohort.
As they approached, they were greeted by Cassie, Kai, and a woman in a wheelchair, whom Arthur realized was Effie.
Confused, he looked around, asking, "Where is Nephis?"
Eyes turned to him, not just the cohort's, but everyone who heard him.
Kai slightly frowned, "You don't know?" He asked, to which Arthur replied with a negative.
Kai let out a sigh, "She didn't make it, apparently she had to stay behind for the gateway to work."
Arthur only nodded and turned to Sunny.
"So why did you drag me here?"
Sunny coughed and spoke, "Well, I wanted to know what all of us will do. I myself will be going independent and try to become a master as soon as possible, and you?"
At the question, everyone took a break to think. Finally, Arthur spoke up, "If I get a good deal with the government, I will join them; if not, I will also be going independent." A few brows raised at the choice, but no one said anything.
After they talked for a while, everyone slowly left, leaving only a few stragglers and Arthur himself in the cafeteria. Soon he left as well.
Nearing his dorm room, he was met by a person next to his door.
Exchanging greetings, the man explained that he was from the government, asking Arthur to follow him.
Soon they arrived in one of the interview rooms, and the men sat down at the table and began speaking.
"So I heard you are interested in joining the government?"
"Only if the deal is worth it", Arthur answered, not afraid to state his reasons.
The man let out a chuckle, "Well, of course, so, what, would you be interested in?"
Arthur pondered for a moment, and finally he answered, "soul shards and payment to a certain orphanage".
The man raised a brow, but did not question him, "Well, that is certainly doable, within reason, of course." Arthur nodded.
And so the impromptu meeting ended, sure, the details would need to be ironed out, but it was most likely he would join.
He waited for the man to leave the office, and used godstep, teleporting to his own room in about two seconds, due to the walls.
Slightly disoriented, Arthur undressed and went to sleep again.
[A/n: told, yall I would write more today, most of yall prob laughed at the idea of me writing more than necessary (lmfao).
But yeah anyways, not sure what to with the story right now, since the forgotten shore took like 5 more months than in Canon, some events will be sped up, although I'm considering diverging from Canon more.
