I woke up at 4:45 in the morning because my body didn't believe in sleep anymore.
I reached for my burner phone on the nightstand. There were no messages. Everyone would be asleep right now.
I got out of bed and moved through the penthouse like I was trespassing in my own life.
I made coffee but it tasted terrible. I sat in the kitchen with the lights off.
At 5:30 AM, I heard Asher's footsteps in the living room. He appeared at the kitchen door. His hair was messy showing he'd slept well.
"You're awake." He said.
"Couldn't sleep." I didn't turn around to look at him.
He walked towards the coffee machine, and made his espresso.
"I didn't sleep either." He said, which might have been truth or might have been manipulation. With him, it was impossible to know.
He sat down opposite to me.
"About the deal." He started.
