"There's going to be a press event in a few days. Fashion industry awards. I want us to attend together. But I wanted to ask you instead of telling you. Would you come?"
"What kind of awards?" I asked.
"The Shanghai Fashion Industry Awards. It's the biggest annual event in Asia. Designers, retailers, investors, press; everyone who matters in fashion will be there. Siren Gem has been nominated for Emerging Brand of the Year."
My stomach dropped.
"What?"
"You didn't know?" He looked genuinely surprised. "The nomination was announced three weeks ago."
Three weeks ago, I'd been consumed with revenge planning. I'd probably ignored dozens of emails thinking them of as spam.
"I didn't know." I admitted.
"Well, you're nominated. And I think you should attend. This is important for Siren Gem."
He was right. This was exactly the kind of event that could transform Siren Gem from promising startup to established brand.
