Chapter 240 - [DEM] 240: Tensei

For over a thousand years, the toads had lived in Mount Myōboku, their ancestral home. Morpheus's attempt to consume it drove them to fight desperately.

The Great Toad Sage, usually lethargic, erupted with surging chakra, abandoning his usual torpor.

"Demon, stop!" He roared and spitting a blazing fireball.

Senpō: Fire Release: Goemon.

This was Jiraiya's technique in Sage Mode, combining oil from Jiraiya, Wind Release from Fukasaku, and Fire Release from Shima, creating a devastating attack that could incinerate foes with thousand-degree boiling oil.

The Great Toad Sage performed this composite ninjutsu alone.

Facing the flames, Morpheus's Rinnegan flickered.

The fire transformed into harmless flower petals, scattering across the sky.

The Great Toad Sage froze, eyes wide. What ninjutsu was this? Turning his Fire Release into petals—could it be genjutsu?

As he doubted himself, Morpheus snapped his fingers. The Great Toad Sage stiffened, a grayish hue spreading across his body.

He recognized it: petrification, the fate of those who failed to master Sage Mode.

But he was the Great Toad Sage, a master of Sage Mode for a millennium. How could he petrify?

It was unscientific.

Stunned, he gave Morpheus a bewildered glance before turning into a massive stone statue.

Not just him—all of Mount Myōboku's toads suffered the same fate.

With no one left to resist, Morpheus consumed Mount Myōboku, merging it into Life Space.

Life Space grew stronger, boosting Morpheus's power further.

As for the toads, he cast them into the void, their fate uncertain.

Next, Morpheus headed to the Ryūchi Cave, another of the three holy summoning sites.

He repeated the process, consuming the Ryūchi Cave to enhance Life Space.

The White Snake Sage resisted, but it was futile. With the Rinnegan and Life Space, Morpheus's power surpassed the Sage of the Six Paths.

A single thought subdued the White Snake Sage.

Seeing their leader defeated, the snake maidens bowed, begging for mercy.

Morpheus was unmoved. Those who failed Sage Mode here became meals for the snakes. Though they ate ninja world humans, Morpheus found it distasteful. He drained their chakra and killed them.

He spared no snakes, annihilating them all before consuming the Ryūchi Cave.

Like Mount Myōboku, the Ryūchi Cave was reduced to nothing.

Only the Shikkotsu Forest remained.

But Morpheus didn't bother with it. Unlike the meddling Mount Myōboku or the cannibalistic Ryūchi Cave, the Shikkotsu Forest rarely interfered in the ninja world. Lacking their messy entanglements, Morpheus saw no need to target it.

Leaving the Ryūchi Cave, he went to the Moon, home of the Ōtsutsuki clan.

Sadly, only Toneri Ōtsutsuki remained, the others long dead.

Morpheus had no fondness for Toneri. He drained his chakra and killed him, the Ōtsutsuki unable to resist.

The power gap was too vast.

Afterward, Morpheus found the Moon's Giant Tenseigan and consumed it.

He secluded himself again, this time to fuse the Tenseigan with his Rinnegan.

These were distinct eyes, but Morpheus aimed to merge them into a Tensei Rinnegan.

It was a complex process, taking nearly a week to complete.

The resulting Tensei Rinnegan combined the abilities of both eyes, surpassing them.

With it, Morpheus could control life and death, achieving feats beyond imagination.

He was now nearly indistinguishable from the Ōtsutsuki God, differing only in raw power.

The Ōtsutsuki God had consumed countless chakra fruits, giving him a slight edge.

But in versatility, Morpheus believed he was equal.
