Chapter 242 - [DEM] 242: Another?

A month passed in the blink of an eye.

Among the clones Morpheus had dispatched, Clone Number 32 was the first to locate a planet teeming with life.

Upon arrival, he found the planet oddly familiar.

It was enveloped by endless oceans, with a single continent at its center, splitting the world in two. Scattered islands dotted the seas like stars in the sky.

Morpheus landed on one of the larger islands and entered a tavern to gather information about his location.

The bartender said, "This is the Grand Line, the Kingdom of Alabasta. You didn't know that?"

The Grand Line? Alabasta?

Morpheus was momentarily stunned, then realized—One Piece. He had stumbled into the world of One Piece.

The fact that the One Piece world existed within the same universe as the Naruto world was, to say the least, astonishing.

But on reflection, it made sense. Devil Fruits were fruits, and Chakra Fruits were fruits. Both existing in the same universe wasn't entirely implausible.

Confirming he was in the One Piece world, Morpheus's first question was about the timeline. "Is Pirate King Roger dead? What year is it?"

"Roger? He's been dead for over twenty years," the bartender replied. "It's 1520 now."

Morpheus raised an eyebrow. If he recalled correctly, 1520 was the year Luffy set sail, marking the start of the story.

"So, what's the date today?"

The bartender gave him an odd look. "You don't even know that?"

Morpheus waved off the question. "I just came from a remote village. Tell me the date."

Sensing Morpheus wasn't to be trifled with, the bartender quickly answered, "It's March 20th."

Morpheus nodded. Luffy's birthday was May 5th, often speculated to be the day he set sail. If true, Luffy hadn't yet begun his journey, and the story hadn't officially started.

Alabasta was still in dire straits, plagued by drought, with its people on the brink of despair.

In that case, Morpheus decided to give this world a little surprise from a transmigrator.

Stepping out of the tavern, he rose into the sky, casting a spell. Dark clouds gathered, blanketing Alabasta. Lightning flashed, and thunder rumbled.

Torrential rain poured down, soaking every inch of the kingdom.

In the capital, King Cobra saw the rain and fell to his knees, overjoyed. "The gods have mercy! Alabasta is saved!"

The capital erupted in celebration.

The joy wasn't confined to the capital—the sudden downpour reached every corner of Alabasta. Every city rejoiced, every person celebrated.

Except one.

Crocodile, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea.

From within his casino, he gazed through the window at the endless clouds and pouring rain washing over the land. His face was darker than the storm itself.

Nico Robin, standing behind him, smirked. "What now, Boss?"

She understood Crocodile's frustration. He had invested immense time, effort, and wealth into his plan for Alabasta's secret. Just as it was nearing fruition, this rain threatened to ruin everything.

Crocodile's restraint was commendable; Robin doubted she'd have such self-control.

"Investigate," Crocodile snapped, biting through his cigar. "This rain isn't natural. Find out what's causing it."

For years, he'd used Dancing Powder to control Alabasta's weather, ensuring no such rain could fall. Yet it had. He suspected foul play.

So did Robin. Following his orders, she began her investigation.

As Crocodile's stronghold, Alabasta was crawling with his informants. Robin's thorough search quickly yielded a lead.

A day later, she placed a photograph in front of Crocodile.

He glanced at it—a man he didn't recognize, floating in the sky beneath a mass of dark clouds.

Robin said, "Someone witnessed this man summoning the clouds and bringing the rain."

Crocodile looked outside. The rain hadn't stopped, showing no signs of ceasing.

"Who is he?"

Robin shook her head. "No one knows. I checked with other intelligence networks—nobody recognizes him. But given his ability to summon rain, he's likely a Devil Fruit user. Maybe the Cloud-Cloud Fruit or the Rain-Rain Fruit."

Crocodile muttered, "A Logia-type Devil Fruit?"

Even without Robin's input, he'd suspected as much. Only a powerful Logia fruit could achieve this.

But why was this man bringing rain to Alabasta? Was he targeting Crocodile, or simply trying to save the kingdom?

Crocodile leaned toward the latter. His plan remained secret, with most blaming King Cobra for the drought. The chances of someone targeting him were slim.

This man likely just wanted to save Alabasta—perhaps to become a celebrated hero or, with cunning, to overthrow Cobra and claim the throne.

Either way, Crocodile was furious. He'd worked tirelessly to ruin Alabasta, and he wouldn't let someone steal his prize.
