Suppressing his anger, Crocodile asked Robin, "Where is he now?"
Without hesitation, she replied, "He's in the port city of Nanohana."
Crocodile rose from his chair, his towering frame radiating menace. "Then it's time we met this hero who saved Alabasta."
Robin's eyes flickered. She knew Crocodile's intentions—likely to eliminate the man. Unable to stop him, she offered a quiet warning. "His Devil Fruit might counter yours, Boss."
Crocodile sneered, glancing at her with confidence. "You're overthinking it. In the desert, I'm king. Even if he has the Rain-Rain Fruit, what of it?"
Robin smiled faintly. "You're right, Boss. I'll prepare now."
That afternoon, they set out on a desert ship, arriving in Nanohana by morning.
To Crocodile's frustration, they learned from locals that the rainmaker had already left.
"Where did he go?" Crocodile demanded.
A bartender replied, "I heard Lord Morpheus say he was heading to Rainbase."
Crocodile and Robin exchanged stunned looks.
Robin chuckled. "Looks like we missed him perfectly, Boss."
Crocodile's heart sank. Rainbase was his headquarters. The man's destination was too precise—could he be targeting him after all?
This was trouble.
"Back," Crocodile ordered. They boarded the desert ship and returned to Rainbase, a day's journey.
As they entered Rainbase, the rain finally stopped. A ray of sunlight pierced the clouds, falling on Crocodile and Robin.
Crocodile shook off the rainwater and headed to his casino, Rain Dinners, his expression unreadable.
Inside, the casino was eerily empty, as if closed. Not a single patron was present.
But there was an uninvited guest.
A young man sat in a chair, smiling at Crocodile.
Crocodile recognized him—the man who'd summoned the rain, nearly bankrupting his plans.
"You're Morpheus," He recalling the name from Nanohana's residents.
Morpheus nodded. "That's me. Meeting you wasn't easy, Crocodile."
Crocodile snorted. "What do you want with me?"
Morpheus replied casually, "Nothing major. Just wanted to see what a Logia Devil Fruit user looks like."
Crocodile blinked, caught off guard. "You're not a Logia user?"
"Not only am I not a Logia user, I'm not a Devil Fruit user at all."
"Impossible," Crocodile retorted. "If you're not a Devil Fruit user, how did you summon that rain?"
"With magic, of course," Morpheus said calmly.
"Ridiculous," Crocodile scoffed. "Do you take me for a child?"
Magic? Only a toddler would believe such nonsense. Adults, especially seasoned pirates like him, didn't buy it.
Crocodile felt insulted, as did Robin, who thought Morpheus was mocking her boss.
Morpheus shrugged. "Believe what you want."
Crocodile sneered, swinging his right hand. His arm transformed into a sand blade, slashing at Morpheus.
The blade carved a deep gash in the floor but was stopped by an invisible wall just before reaching Morpheus.
Crack!
The unbreakable sand blade shattered like an egg against stone, scattering into grains.
Crocodile quickly reformed his arm, his senses sharpening. This man was formidable. What was that wall? His sand blade could slice stone like butter.
Morpheus gave a thumbs-up. "Not bad for a pirate—striking without hesitation. Let me return the favor."
Crocodile braced for an attack, but seconds passed, and Morpheus remained seated, smiling enigmatically.
No move was made.
Crocodile frowned. "What are you playing at?"
Robin's trembling voice interrupted. "Boss, your body!"
Crocodile looked down, his eyes widening in shock. From his waist down, including his legs, he was turning to stone. The petrification spread rapidly, reaching his chest in moments.
He tried to elementalize, but everything below his chest was unresponsive. If he transformed now, only his upper body would escape, leaving him doomed.
"Robin! Help!"
To his shock, the petrification halted at his collarbone, encasing both arms.
He hadn't expected Morpheus's abilities to be so bizarre. Caught off guard, he was reduced to a head. How could he fight like this?
With just a head?
Even a fool could see he had no chance.
