Yunying's lips curved slowly, the kind of smile that made the whole table falter. Her head tilted,her blue hair sliding off one shoulder as she leaned back in her seat.
"Yes.." she said sweetly. "I begged him."
The chatter stopped.
Every pair of eyes..startled, triumphant, scandalized snapped towards her.
She traced her finger along the rim of her teacup, her tone light, mocking. "I begged, and look where that got me." Her gaze flicked lazily to Xiao Lian. "Meanwhile, the one who didn't beg… well." Her smirk deepened.
"The man of her dreams didn't put the ring on her finger. It's for her eyes instead."
The silence cracked.
Madam Wang slammed her hand against the table, the porcelain rattling violently. "You insolent girl! How dare you!" Her voice rose, sharp and venomous. "You good-for-nothing homewrecker! You've brought nothing but shame to this family!"
