For a moment, Jinxing just looked at her, really looked.
This woman wasn't the quiet, reserved eldest miss people thought she was. She was steel under silk.
"You really have changed.." he said finally.
Yunying smiled faintly, eyes still on the elevator doors. "I had to. Staying the same only ever got me trampled."
The elevator dinged softly, the doors sliding open to the executive floor.
"Now.." she said, her tone bright again, the softness of her earlier words gone, "let's go eat before your employees think I came here to cause drama."
Jinxing gave a small laugh and followed her out. "You already did."
She threw him a side glance, smirking. "Good. Then they'll remember not to cross me next time."
As the elevator doors opened, Jinxing's arm slipped around Yunying's waist, his expression softening now that they were away from prying eyes. By the time they reached his office, his secretary had already vanished as if on cue.
