Chapter 23 - Headquarters

•Ivy•

This night wasn't as terrible as I had imagined it would be. I had spent so much time thinking about how a wedding night with Camden Evander would be like.

Other than the night of our first date when he had kissed me senselessly so we would get photographed by paparazzi and appear in the headlines the next day, he hasn't touched me too intimately since then.

His kisses on our other dates were on a much softer side. Light pecks on my hands, lips, cheeks, and forehead. Nothing big. Not like I was craving big kisses or anything like that.

I had just thought he would do more of them, so that by the time we got down to the main business, I would already be used to it. But Camden did nothing like that.

And of course, I didn't attempt to ask him why. That would seem like I actually craved his kisses. Which was not true. In fact, I hated Camden touching me.

I have just been enduring all this while. Yes, that was it. Enduring. Putting up with the torment of being touched by him. It was horrid.

But not tonight. After the whole charade of a wedding and a reception, Camden and I left the venue in different cars.

He clearly told me that he wanted to keep our 'relationship' professional and having a wedding night would be much too intimate. It would be better to fuck on other occasions other than this one.

In his own vulgar words, not mine.

I kind of agreed with him. When Camden and I divorce in three years, I would most certainly find someone else to spend the rest of life with. And I'd at least like to enjoy some first-time experience with them.

Camden couldn't take all of my firsts.

I soaked in a milk bath when I returned home. I had not yet settled into the 'home' Camden purchased for our married life. Though most of my things were already there.

Staying here for the night would be best. The rest of the night after the bath went by in a blur. The next morning when I woke up, I didn't feel any different.

Nothing like how a married woman would feel. Waking up and seeing her husband's face first thing in the morning—thank God for that, actually.

I got ready and made myself a simple breakfast. After eating, while doing the dishes, there was a knock on the front door.

I wiped my hands with furrowed brows. Everyone who knows me should already know that yesterday was my wedding and I wouldn't be in my personal home today.

Because of that fact, I approached the door carefully and peeped through the eyehole before opening the door.

It was him.

I opened the door to a life-sized Camden Evander standing at my door, wearing the brightest smile I'd ever seen on his face.

He stared at me from head to toe and nodded his head in satisfaction. "You're ready. Good. Let's go."

"Go where…?" I asked with a puzzled tone.

"Some place else. God forbid people find out that as newly weds, we both spent our first night in two separate homes. Come with me." Camden reached for my hand after his last sentence and yanked me out of my house.

"Are you crazy?" was on the tip of my tongue, almost about to come out. But it didn't. Because I already knew the answer. Yes, Camden was crazy.

I followed Camden as he led me to his car in the parking space of my building. Then he helped buckle me and began to drive.

Still curious about his actions, I asked, "Where are we going?"

"To the company's HQ," he replied flippantly.

"Whose company's HQ?"

"Yours."

I froze, completely puzzled. "What do you mean? Why would we be headed to Eve? I thought I told you I wasn't welcome there anymore."

"I said we were going to your company's HQ. That is… IVORY." Camden glanced at me, and for the first time since I met him, his smile reached his eyes.

"You're kidding. You have to be kidding. There's already a building??" I almost couldn't breathe as I exclaimed my question.

"Of course, there is. We got married yesterday. You've fulfilled a part of the contract. It's time I start doing my own part." Camden said casually.

My brain seemed to slow down to process what was happening in the correct order.

We only got married yesterday and today I was had a company headquarters. Getting a whole ass building designed for business was not at all an easy process. It should take lots of time. How was Camden able to…

"We're here." Camden announced, parking his car in front of a tall building.

Through the windshield, I could see the company's name, IVORY, crafted in fine colors of black and gold on the building.

Oh my God, it was real.

I stared at the building in awe, unable to look away. I didn't even realize that Camden had already alighted the car and turned my way to help me out until he shook my shoulder gently.

"Come on. Let's go in."

I took Camden's hand and stepped out of the car. My arm was roped in his as he led me inside what I didn't expect to be a fully furnished company.

The reception area was lit up with elephant white and amber lights. The company's name stood above the vacant reception desk.

There was also an empty display area on the floor, fitting for jewelry.

"How does it look?" Camden asked, letting me walk around the area with my mouth hanging in the air.

"Gorgeous…" I replied without hesitation.

Camden reached for me and took me to the next floor. Then the next, and the next after that. So on until we got to the last floor. As soon as we stepped out of the lift, he said, "This is where your office will be."

He looked straight ahead. I blinked, confused at his meaning. There was a desk after the elevator for the floor receptionist. Then there were three cubicles, probably for the secretaries of the floor.

The rest of the floor was demarcated from this side with a glass wall and one pair of a translucent double door, leading someplace else.

"Camden, that office takes up almost the whole floor." I pointed it out to him.

"Of course, it does. That's your personal office." Camden was already walking towards it when he spoke.

I ran up to him, asking, "Are you serious?"

"Dead." He pushed open the door and turned to me. "It's only proper for a CEO to have such space."

This time, my jaw touched the floors.
