Even a passerby, a patient who was so weak he was slowly pushing his wheelchair past Everly's group, suddenly found a burst of energy from who-knows-where. He quickly reversed his wheelchair, moving away from the scene with such speed that he could have given Olympic wheelchair racers a run for their money, sensing the incredibly awkward atmosphere.
But it was Cassian who finally shattered the confusion and the cloud of question marks hanging in the air. He walked over to Everly, his steps as purposeful as a panther stalking its prey. When he noticed Everly's hand gently stroking her belly, it was like a lightning bolt striking his memory, reminding him of their so-called "babies."
