The days at Niky's house were the calmest Yuki had known in a long time. All she had to do was eat properly and rest. Yuzu was always there whenever she needed anything, and the people in the house treated her with nothing but kindness. There was no reason for Yuki not to feel comfortable there.
And yet, whenever no one was watching, Yuki would nervously bite her fingers, sometimes until her teeth injured her beautiful nails. Yuzu noticed the habit after checking her fingers multiple times. Every time Yuzu looked at her as if she might cry, Yuki would pull her hand away and insist that she was fine.
That day was no different.
Yuki appeared perfectly fine in front of everyone, only to let all expression fade once she returned to her room alone. She stared at the quiet space for a moment. Yuzu had done everything she could to make it comfortable. But every time Yuki lay her head on the pillow, only terror came to haunt her nights.
