Elias lounged in the dark leather chair of his penthouse, a glass of whiskey balanced lazily in one hand. The morning light outside painted streaks across the room, but his attention was entirely on the files in front of him.
"Background check complete," a soft voice buzzed in his earpiece. His private assistant or rather, his office "spy" he had planted to secretly keep an eye on Isaac, had dug up everything.
"Miss Kang, Mina. Twenty-four. Executive Team under Isaac Henley. Came highly recommended from HR, clever, dependable, and overly eager."
Elias let out a short laugh, the kind that was both amused and mocking. "Overly eager, huh?" He swirled the amber liquid in his glass. "I love how people think small, and then act like it matters."
He leaned back, reading the snippets of observations from his spy at the office. The little antics, the frantic energy, the way she fawned over Isaac's preferences. The way she tripped over herself but somehow still got the job done.
