Kansas, Blue Valley High School.
Jessica walked down the school hallway with her backpack.
After leaving Smallville with her father, the father and daughter came to Blue Valley.
Although moving had become a common occurrence for her, she was still a bit displeased about having to adapt to a new school as a transfer student.
Dressed in punk attire, with heavy eye makeup, and chewing gum, Jessica quickly became the object of high school boys' attention.
Passing an office, Jessica heard an argument from inside.
"I don't understand, Blue Valley High School clearly had a gymnastics team before, why did you tell me it didn't, Teacher Jennifer?"
"It did, last year it did."
A middle-aged woman's voice sounded, "But to achieve optimal student and teacher participation, the American Dream has reorganized its academic sports programs."
A voice that seemed to belong to a high school girl replied, "Sorry, Teacher Jennifer, I didn't understand a word you said."
"What I mean is, there are many extracurricular activities here, like cheerleading, which is similar to gymnastics, and boys love cheerleading the most."
"I have no interest in cheerleading."
The high school girl expressed only moderate interest in cheerleading.
A few seconds later, the office door was pushed open, and a curly-haired, brown-skinned girl walked out, nearly bumping into Jessica.
"Sorry."
The curly-haired girl quickly apologized to Jessica.
"It's fine."
Jessica glanced at the other person's figure, a subtle smile appearing at the corner of her mouth.
"I feel like I was bumped by a soft figure."
"Hehe."
The curly-haired girl gave an awkward laugh, extended her hand to Jessica, "Courtney, Courtney Whitmore, that's my name."
"Jessica Lopez."
Jessica shook her hand, replying casually.
"I've only been at this school for a week, so I don't really understand anything, everything looks terrible."
Courtney started a conversation by introducing her unlucky situation to the other person.
"Me too."
Jessica nodded, "I'm a transfer student today."
"Wow!"
Courtney showed an excited expression, "That's such a coincidence, I moved from California."
The two talked as they walked to the classroom.
Since they were both new transfer students, they quickly hit it off.
At lunch break, Courtney took Jessica to the school cafeteria.
As soon as they sat down, they heard someone nearby discussing the story of the heroic superhero "Starlight."
"Starlight?"
Jessica looked at Courtney in confusion.
"Yes, a superhero who appeared in Blue Valley, capable of using a Staff to defeat villains soundly."
Courtney said to her with some pride, "But I don't think the name Starlight can represent her. I heard this superhero is a girl, maybe we should call her Stargirl, what do you think?"
Jessica glanced at the excited Courtney, "You know this Starlight, or rather, Stargirl?"
"No, but everyone's been talking about her recently. Some say she's Starman revived from decades ago, others say a new heir to the hero has appeared. But aren't you interested in topics like superheroes and saving the world?"
"No!"
Jessica shook her head, putting down the hamburger in her hand.
The indelible images from before, the battle between Eric and Clark, were deeply etched in her mind.
That kind of world-destroying battle instantly shattered her worldview, reshaping a brand new understanding of the world.
In her new worldview, Eric and Clark were beings at the pinnacle.
Once their accumulated power erupted, it would absolutely destroy the world.
The stories of so-called superheroes doing good deeds on the streets became, in her eyes, boring children's games.
"I feel it's more like a children's make-believe game."
Jessica replied to Courtney.
"You must have never witnessed that kind of power."
Courtney frowned after tasting some very bad green peas, "Stargirl holds a Staff, and the energy she emits can directly destroy a car, and she can also fly in the air. Now she's busy fighting those villains, maybe we can give her some support."
"That... Jessica, have you heard of the Justice Society of America?"
"Uh-huh, some old-fashioned folks in tights from the last century?"
Jessica frowned, she found the cafeteria food terrible.
Worse than the cafeteria food was this incessantly chattering girl in front of her.
"That's not a legend, the heroes of the Justice Society have all retired. I think Stargirl can re-form the Justice Society and fight those villains, what do you think?"
"You must have never witnessed a true battle."
Jessica was getting annoyed with this naive girl.
"The speed of movement is so fast you can't even see it, and your ears are filled with piercing air explosions. A jump of dozens of meters high, and when they land, the flagstones under their feet shatter into dust, and they can emit the kind of energy you mentioned just by using their eyes."
Jessica shook her head, "If it were a villain like that, how would you deal with them?"
"Demons don't come from the hell beneath our feet, but fall from the sky."
Kent Farm.
Martha had just finished cleaning the house when her husband, Eric, and Clark entered the living room.
"The recent weather is strangely hot, half an hour of bumping on the tractor and I'm drenched in sweat. Maybe I can learn from Australians and take a 'summer vacation'."
Jonathan, who had just come in, complained to Martha.
"Perhaps you all need some iced lemonade to relieve the summer heat. By the way, Australians celebrate Christmas in the summer, Jonathan, you wouldn't want to be like them."
Martha raised the glass of iced lemonade in her hand and said with a smile.
But suddenly, she felt dizzy, and her vision went black.
"Ugh!"
Her body went limp, all strength gone.
With a "crash," the glass fell heavily to the floor.
The glass shattered into pieces, and yellow lemonade splattered everywhere.
Then her body swayed and she fell forward.
She was falling directly onto the area full of broken glass shards.
Seeing his wife fall, Jonathan was completely stunned, standing motionless in place.
Eric and Clark reacted immediately, moving to their mother's side in an instant with their super speed.
Eric's speed was superior to Clark's, and he caught his mother as she fell forward, preventing her from getting injured on the glass shards.
Seeing Eric holding Martha, Jonathan came to his senses, quickly walked over, and took Martha from Eric's arms.
Pushing the hair from his wife's forehead, Jonathan quickly checked her.
"Eric, Clark, call for an ambulance!"
