Dialga and Palkia held the highest status, being avatars of the Creator. However, things turned chaotic with the emergence of the unruly Giratina, born from shadows and tasked with managing the chaotic and destructive realm.
Since that incident, Palkia and Dialga have not been the same. They began mimicking the Creator's form, attempting to harness more power to break free from control. Yet, power alone wasn't enough. Their connection to the Creator was too deep, akin to the bond between a body and hair. Achieving true independence was easier said than done.
With the Creator's tacit approval, they sought help from Mew, specifically using the power of the World Tree to reshape themselves. This new form marked their first step towards autonomy, although they still required Mew's periodic assistance. This is why other creatures feared them, but Mew did not.
"What do you need us to do?" Dialga and Palkia communicated across time and space.
"Help me find someone," Mew stated bluntly.
"Really, just a human?" The two legendary beasts found it hard to believe.
"Yes, just a human," Mew confirmed.
This request left Palkia and Dialga bewildered. As the ancestor of Pokémon and the head of the mythical beasts, possessing supreme power, it was astonishing that Mew couldn't locate a human and needed their help. Even more ironically, it was up to them to assist. Mew felt that personally searching for a human was beneath her.
"Mew! I can't find him even with the World Tree's power!" Mew admitted helplessly.
"Mew! Even Celebi couldn't assist, and when we tried using the power of the Lake of Life, it was still in vain."
"Mew! Before I came here, I even asked Rayquaza, but it confirmed the person is still on this planet."
Dialga and Palkia exchanged a shocked glance. It was unbelievable that someone could elude the combined efforts of Mew, Celebi, and Rayquaza.
"Roar~ What's going on?" Palkia's eyes glowed with the symbolic purple hue of temporal power.
Mew repeated the explanation given to Celebi. Dialga pondered for a moment, "Roar~ Are you suggesting we join forces to open the Ultra Space?"
Though her control over time was more potent than Celebi's, as manifestations of the Creator, they faced many restrictions after the world fused. Mew clearly had another plan.
"Mew!" Mew nodded in confirmation.
Ultra Space is a unique realm inhabited by Ultra Beasts, whose power rivals that of Level 3 Legendaries. This space wasn't created by the Creator but naturally formed, existing attached to the Pokémon world.
Due to tensions between the Pokémon and Ultra Beasts, Solgaleo and Lunala sealed the passage between the two worlds. Yet, with the power of the sun and moon, Cosmog could still traverse freely, holding the key to Ultra Space.
Mew wanted Dialga and Palkia's help in finding Carl, but initially, the two temporal beasts were reluctant. As avatars of the Creator, assisting in such a mundane task seemed beneath them.
"Mew!" Mew dangled a tempting offer, promising them the World Tree's core leaves. This time it wasn't an empty promise but a genuine intention. Mew had already discussed it with the Creator, agreeing that given the world fusion's inevitability, it would be a kind gesture.
Upon hearing this, Dialga and Palkia were invigorated. It was a chance for freedom, and they quickly changed their minds, setting into action immediately.
The space tore open, and with two flashes of light, their avatars appeared. With a gentle swipe, Palkia formed a spatial passage instantly.
Palkia rushed into the spatial rift first, with Dialga close behind, and Mew followed swishing her tail. In the blink of an eye, they stood on a mysterious floating island.
From high above, the Aether Paradise, Lillie's homeland, was clearly visible.
"Swish—"
Palkia waved a paw downwards, releasing strange energies from a spatial rift. Dialga, in turn, emitted a temporal beam, intertwining the two forces to form a multi-colored vortex gradually.
This was the pathway to Ultra Space, opened with the aid of the sealed ultra energy from the Aether Paradise, as the legendary Pokémon worked together to unlock the entrance.
"Roar—The passage can only hold for three minutes," Dialga reminded.
Mew nodded and swiftly flew into the vortex.
At the same time, alarms blared throughout the Aether Paradise.
In the lab, Lusamine, who had been working late, was startled awake. Rubbing her temples, she quickly moved toward the door, only to bump into her frantic secretary.
"What happened?" Lusamine asked, fatigue lacing her voice. "Is Team Skull causing trouble again?"
The secretary struggled for breath, "No... it's not... all the stored ultra energy has vanished!"
"What?!" Lusamine's face turned pale instantly, then she slammed the table in fury, "This is outrageous!"
She gritted her teeth, "It's definitely not Lillie, but Cosmog must be involved! Who is behind this?"
At that moment, a researcher rushed in, "President! We've detected Cosmog's energy signature directly above us!"
Lusamine froze in place. The sudden disappearance of ultra energy and Cosmog's appearance above—did it intend to reopen Ultra Space? What was it planning?
Faced with a barrage of questions, Lusamine found herself becoming more composed. She decisively issued instructions: deploy reconnaissance aircraft for on-site investigation, synchronize satellite imagery to confirm the situation, and prepare the airship for standby. Regardless of the truth, she must personally investigate.
"Understood!"
The secretary and assistants hurried off to carry out the orders.
Left alone, Lusamine fell into deep thought, her expression gradually turning icy.
"Damaris mentioned the Saffron City incident involving Team Rocket. Today, a global press conference will be held to explain the details.
"Team Rocket's actions should have no connection to Ultra Space, yet Cosmog's appearance is baffling.
"Since it has returned, it must not escape again.
"And Lillie..."
Thinking of her rebellious daughter, she pressed a hand to her chest, "Why can't she understand her mother's well-intentioned efforts?"
"Is all of this for myself?"
"I just want to give you a complete family!"
Having gathered her thoughts, she turned and returned to her office, unlocking a secret passage in a special way. This passage led directly to the Aether Foundation's A-class confidential research lab.
Traversing the narrow hallway, Lusamine soon reached a spacious and bright experimental area. The room was filled with various precision instruments, but the most striking were three uniquely shaped Pokémon.
Their front and hind limbs varied in form, bodies resembling beasts, yet their tails were akin to fish, appearing as a patchwork of various creatures, lacking the majesty of legendary beasts.
"This time, you will be dispatched to battle." Lusamine approached one of the Pokémon. It was named Nihilego, codenamed Ultra Beast Slayer, developed specifically to combat Ultra Beasts. Initially codenamed BK, it was cultivated using artificial skeletal structures and all-attribute cell gene technology. Later, with valuable data from the Water Pulse Library, the AR system was developed and implanted, leading to its official renaming.
