Chapter 189: The Taki Village Guide
Mei Terumi wore a strange expression on her face as she gently tapped the table twice and spoke slowly:
"Are you sure the other party is the leader of Taki Village? And this man called Shibuki, what is his strength?"
Jin's face froze, and he quickly answered respectfully:
"Because Taki Village's location is somewhat special, our Anbu members have been keeping an eye on it. I just checked the intel specifically. Shibuki's father was the leader of Taki Village, but he is dead now."
"According to the system of a small village like this, there is no 'Kage.' After the leader's death, the position is generally inherited by the next in line. This means Shibuki is indeed the current leader of Taki Village."
Jin paused slightly before continuing:
"I haven't actually fought him, so I can't know his specific strength. But based on my judgment, his power is not particularly strong."
Yuto listened quietly to Jin, a look of interest on her face as she said:
"Taki Village should be the closest to Konoha. Why would they come all the way to our Kirigakure to post a mission?"
As Yuto spoke, Mei Terumi's gaze also shifted over, clearly just as curious.
"According to Shibuki's own words, he originally planned to go to Konoha to post the mission, but recently Konoha had a major battle, and the other great villages have also suffered varying degrees of damage."
"So, in the end, he chose our village."
As Jin said this, he gave Yuto a strange look before quickly looking away.
Yuto couldn't help but be taken aback, a hint of embarrassment appearing on his face.
A smile appeared on the corner of Mei Terumi's mouth, and her gaze fell back on Jin:
"If that were all, there would be no need to specially report this to me, right."
Jin nodded, his expression serious as he continued:
"The mission they posted is a C-rank escort mission, but based on intelligence from the Anbu, it's at least a B-rank mission."
"More importantly, there is a hidden squad from Amegakure around Taki Village, seemingly in conflict with them. The leaders of this Amegakure squad are Amegakure's Kageru and Hyōu."
"As for their purpose and specific information, due to limited Anbu personnel, we are unable to determine it at this time."
Jin stopped speaking and gave a slight bow in Yuto's direction.
"Haha, it seems this matter is related to Amegakure," Yuto said with an interested look, unable to help but chuckle.
Others might not know, but Jin, as the leader of the Anbu, was aware that Amegakure and Kirigakure had already established close ties behind the scenes.
In a way, the Amegakure shinobi were their own people, and this mission itself could very well lead to a conflict with them.
Of course, this was only one layer of meaning.
There was a more important point: the Amegakure shinobi were making a move against Taki Village.
But in this matter, their Kirigakure had received not a single piece of information from Amegakure.
"Chōjūrō, go find Konan and have her come here."
Yuto turned his head to look at Chōjūr beside him, saying with a light smile.
Chōjūrō nodded respectfully and quickly turned to leave.
As for Konan, Yuto had no doubts at all. Konan had no reason to do something like this, and there would be no point to it.
Before long, Konan, with a cold expression on her face, slowly walked in from the door.
After Konan entered, she gave a slight nod in Yuto's direction, her face remained cold, showing no intention of speaking first.
Mei Terumi didn't mind; after all, Konan was the secret leader of the entire Amegakure and represented the village herself.
"Jin, give Konan-dono a general briefing on the mission from earlier."
Mei Terumi looked at Jin and said softly.
As Jin began to speak, Konan's expression remained calm, though her eyebrows furrowed slightly.
"Kageru and Hyōu were expelled from Amegakure long ago. They are now rogue ninja, and I don't know what they specifically intend to do," Konan said calmly.
"If that's the case, then this matter becomes much simpler."
A thoughtful look flashed in Mei Terumi's eyes as she turned to look at Yuto.
"I was just about to doze off when someone came to deliver a pillow, and the delivery man was the leader of Taki Village."
As he said this, Yuto couldn't help but laugh.
Yuto had originally planned to go to Taki Village to be the first to acquire the chakra of the Seven-Tails, Isobu, after all. Taki Village was a small village, so it wouldn't cause a huge commotion.
The only thing that was giving him trouble was that Taki Village was hidden within a giant waterfall. Without someone from Taki Village to lead the way, finding the specific entrance would likely be exceptionally difficult.
And now, a guide from Taki Village had delivered themselves to his doorstep.
"I'll personally handle this mission. By the way, Konan, you'll come with me. You can take care of those people from your Amegakure while you're at it. I'm curious about their true purpose."
Yuto said with a faint smile to Konan.
Konan was slightly taken aback, then nodded, her expression flat: "Fine."
As Yuto's words fell, a strange look flashed in Mei Terumi's eyes as she looked at Konan.
After scrutinizing Konan for a moment, Mei Terumi retracted her gaze.
Amegakure.
In an extremely hidden underground chamber.
The two-faced Black Zetsu and Tobi stood beside Madara.
Black Zetsu wore a calm expression, quietly watching Madara, who was sitting atop the Gedo Statue's head in the middle of the room.
Beside him, White Zetsu's eyes darted around, and half his body swayed from time to time.
"Other than Kirigakure's Three-Tails and Six-Tails, and Konoha's Six-Tails, I need to know the exact locations of all the other remaining tailed beasts."
Madara slowly turned his head to look at White Zetsu, speaking calmly.
"Yes, Madara-sama, I'll go do it right away."
White Zetsu's face lit up, and he quickly spoke. After finishing, his entire body rapidly sank into the ground and disappeared.
Just after Zetsu had left, a terrifying aura erupted from Madara, pressing down on Tobi.
Tobi's entire body trembled, and a cold sweat poured from his forehead. His back was instantly soaked through.
But very quickly, the terrifying aura vanished as if it had never appeared.
"I hope this time, you won't disappoint me again."
Madara's cold voice entered Tobi's ears, causing Tobi to secretly let out a sigh of relief deep in his heart.
