Chapter 69: Impossible
When the Emperor opened the recording, he was shocked to see only corpses of stone plant monsters everywhere, and in the middle, one boy was standing and fighting stone plant monsters.
He could see that the boy's eyes were lifeless, but he did not stop fighting and protecting a person behind him.
When the Emperor saw the person the boy was trying to protect, he stood up from his throne and shouted Arthur's name. He immediately identified the person, and he was in disbelief after seeing Arthur's condition.
The Emperor and everyone noticed that Arthur had lost one arm and one leg, and he was lying on the ground at the brink of death.
The recording was seen by all commanders, princes, and princesses, but their gaze immediately shifted to Ank after seeing Arthur.
Ank was covered in blood with countless wounds. With one sword in his hand, he was continuously blocking and attacking with dead eyes.
Everyone had different opinions. Some thought he was mad. Some thought how powerful he was to fight this massive army alone. Some were in disbelief. But one thing was certain. Why they chose this village was now clear in everyone's mind.
Then Princess Seraphina said that he was mental, fighting a massive army alone while his level was under forty. She quickly checked his status, and from it she knew he was very weak.
"Why does he keep standing? He will lose immediately, but he is still attacking," Prince Marek commented.
Everyone agreed with the princess and prince's opinion except the Emperor. He lifted his finger, pointed at the recording, and said, "That is Arthur, and you have to protect him at any cost." Then he asked Minister March who this boy was.
When Minister March heard this, he said that his name was Ank and that he lived with Arthur.
The Emperor's scouts who delivered this footage said something that seemed impossible. "I believed they were lying, but when I watched this recording, my doubt was cleared. I did not know how you would react after knowing the truth, and no one believed it until they saw the recording."
"Minister March, I know what you are pointing at, but I want to hear it from your mouth."
In the throne room, everyone was confused after hearing the conversation between the Emperor and Minister March.
They were curious about what they were talking about, but no one asked them to clear their doubts. They knew how important Minister March was to the Emperor and how much the Emperor trusted him.
After the short conversation between the Emperor and Minister March ended, Minister March continued with the information the scouts collected from villagers.
"According to the information we collected, he was fighting stone monsters for the last twenty four hours without rest."
"And he was the reason why only half of the stone plant monster army was left. He killed all those stone plant monsters alone while protecting Arthur."
"He was fighting nonstop, and we do not have any other information except his name."
Everyone was shocked. They could not believe that he had fought for twenty four hours without rest and killed half of the army.
Princess Seraphina felt guilty for calling him mental. She now understood that speaking without any information was foolish, and she wanted to apologize, but she knew he would not survive.
When the Emperor asked where he was now, Minister March replied, "We don't know. Some villagers said that after the Stone Plant King arrived, no one saw Arthur or the boy."
The Emperor watched the boy, who was nonstop fighting the stone plant monsters, and said, "He helped us by holding their army for twenty four hours."
"So if you find him, say thank you to him for me."
Everyone nodded. Then they processed the Emperor's words.
Every prince and princess wondered why their father was thanking him. They knew he should not survive, yet from their father's words, it sounded like he was alive.
Then the Emperor said, "I have an important mission for the Fourth Commander, Nora, that you must do before the invasion starts." As he said this, a soldier ran toward Commander Nora's tent and handed over a device.
"Commander Nora, the item in your hand is a teleportal. You must find Arthur at any cost before the war gets out of control."
"And teleport him to another location. I cannot tell you the location, but you also have got teleported. Your army will be led by Princess Freya."
"You will not participate in this war. This mission is very important. If you complete it, our success rate will increase drastically."
Everyone could not believe what the Emperor said. They wondered why he wanted to save Arthur so desperately and why removing Commander Nora would reduce their winning chances.
The Emperor looked at everyone and said, "All of you want to know why I want Arthur that much."
"Yes," they all said in unison without thinking. Even the first and second commanders wanted to know.
"I will tell you," the Emperor said, and he began explaining the deal he made with the Director of SHO, except for the details about the meeting with the Gold Emperor.
Some agreed with the Emperor's thinking, while others disagreed.
"I know some of you do not agree with my logic, but I have to save the Empire. If there is even the slightest chance of our loss, I will make sure the Empire does not fall."
"And the biggest reason I chose Commander Nora is because she is more powerful and cunning, and she will find a way."
Commander Nora stepped forward and said, "I accept the mission, and I will complete it even at the cost of my life."
The meeting ended, and the countdown for the attack started.
After that, the commanders checked everything and prepared for the attack.
The princes and princesses did not know what Ank was doing to change the future of each of them.
Some would become entities that any mortal would dream of.
Some would reach a fate so terrible that they would beg for death.
