Chapter 190: Bibi Dong's Summon
Seeing the woman about to argue with him, Ning Bei coughed lightly and started imitating various passerby voices.
"You see, that's Lady Dugu Yan, the wife of the Lord of Medicine, I've heard she's only a Soul Emperor."
"That's right, I've heard she doesn't even have a 100,000-year-old soul ring? Tsk tsk, better not to think too much about it."
"I've heard even the pets raised by the Lord of Medicine are 100,000-year-old soul beasts. She probably doesn't receive much attention from him!"
"That's right, she must be clinging to the Lord of Medicine shamelessly!"
As Ning Bei imitated, he noticed Dugu Yan's face growing darker and quickly stopped his mischief.
"Ah! I'll strangle you! Tell me, is this what you really think?"
Sure enough, Dugu Yan, flushed with embarrassment and anger, immediately used her self-created soul skill, causing the Lord of Medicine Douluo to beg for mercy.
"So why don't you just take it already? Why are you being so polite to me?"
"Hmph!"
Dugu Yan gave a soft snort, took the glowing orb from Ning Bei's hand, and then planted a kiss on him. Although Ning Bei had teased her, she understood that he just wanted to provoke her, and she wasn't the type of woman who couldn't take a joke.
"Thanks, A Bei!"
"No problem, just don't refuse when I treat you to some puff pastry soul bones later."
Dugu Yan rolled her eyes at him, but didn't refuse. Her face was flushed with a rosy hue.
Just as Ning Bei was about to stay by her side while she absorbed the soul ring, a knock came at the door. Both of them exchanged puzzled glances, unsure who it was.
"Is it Rongrong and the others?"
Dugu Yan muttered as she walked over to open the door.
A shadowy, gloomy face nearly startled Dugu Yan, causing her to quickly retreat to Ning Bei's side to feel a little safer.
"Who are you?"
The shadowy figure didn't answer Dugu Yan's question but turned to face Ning Bei.
"Kid, the Pope has ordered you to meet with her!"
"Kid?"
A cold smile appeared on Ning Bei's face. He hadn't been called "kid" by anyone, other than his elders or the fierce beasts of the Star Dou Forest, in a long time.
Wait, there was also Tianmeng who called him that, but Snow Empress would take care of him.
"Get lost. I'm not going."
The figure froze for a moment, as if he thought he had misheard.
"Kid, are you looking for death?"
Ning Bei couldn't be bothered to waste more words. He had already guessed the figure's identity—the Ghost Douluo, one of Bibi Dong's subordinates.
A 98th-level Super Douluo's aura immediately pressed down on the figure.
Caught off guard, the figure nearly collapsed to the ground. He staggered, trying to regain his balance while trembling and trying to resist.
His eyes were filled with terror as he looked at the young man before him.
"You… you…"
"What? Go back and ask Bibi Dong if she dares to speak to me like that. Who does this little ghost think he is, hopping around everywhere?"
The figure paused, then looked at Ning Bei with an expression of dismay.
"Are you trying to declare war on Spirit Hall? That's too reckless!"
In the next moment, Ning Bei disappeared from his position and sent the figure flying with a lightning-fast kick. Since the figure didn't want to maintain any dignity, Ning Bei would give him some dignity.
Dugu Yan stood there, stunned, watching her man. She blinked once, and the shadow at the door had already disappeared.
Ning Bei clapped his hands and turned to see the woman staring at him, dumbfounded.
"What's wrong, scared silly?"
Dugu Yan was snapped out of her thoughts by his waving hand, and after regaining her senses, she looked at him with a hint of amusement.
"So you really held back when we were together earlier. You're way too fast!"
"Pfft!"
Ning Bei almost spat out blood. Was this woman okay?
He took a step forward, grabbed Dugu Yan's cute face, and stretched it.
"Who's fast?"
"Old vinegar!"
Realizing the double meaning in her words, Dugu Yan quickly apologized, not wanting to feel the pain of his "lightning-speed" technique.
"By the way, who was that person earlier? So arrogant?"
"Ghost Douluo from Spirit Hall."
"Ghost Douluo?"
Dugu Yan gasped. She had heard her grandfather mention this person many times, and she never imagined he would be kicked out of the hotel by her man just like that.
"Well, how about it? Isn't your man awesome?"
As Dugu Yan came to her senses, she saw her man being smug again. She rolled her eyes at him.
"Are you planning to try out my self-created soul skill again?"
"Uh…"
After chatting for a while, Ning Bei urged Dugu Yan to continue absorbing the divine soul ring.
However, once again, a knock interrupted them. Ning Bei, irritated, opened the door, only to see a seductive face smiling at him.
The smile sent a chill down Ning Bei's spine, and he quickly retreated several steps in alarm.
The man wasn't bothered by his reaction and, with his hand placed delicately on his waist, spoke:
"Sir, Her Majesty the Pope has requested your presence. Please grace us with your presence!"
The man's eerie voice made both Ning Bei and Dugu Yan feel a chill. Dugu Yan shuddered and rubbed her arms in discomfort.
The man's identity was clear—another one of the Hēnghā generals, Ju Douluo Yue Guan.
Ning Bei looked at him with a strange expression. Had Bibi Dong or Ghost Douluo warned him? Why was he being so polite?
After thinking for a moment, Ning Bei turned to Dugu Yan.
"Rest for a bit. I'll be back soon to watch over you."
Dugu Yan clearly understood his meaning and nodded obediently.
"You go ahead. I'll wait for you!"
Ning Bei glanced at Yue Guan before heading out.
"Let's go."
"Please."
Yue Guan, clearly determined to maintain his manners, followed Ning Bei, keeping a step behind.
Upon reaching the high walls of Spirit Hall, Ning Bei didn't pause and simply walked in.
The guards, seeing Ju Douluo behind him, didn't dare to stop him and bowed respectfully to the two.
"By the way, why does the Pope want to see me? You two came all the way to fetch me. Is there an urgent matter?"
"I'm not sure what Her Majesty the Pope's intentions are, but she just asked us to bring you to meet her."
Ning Bei nodded and, not wanting to bother Yue Guan further, passed through a grand plaza until the magnificent Pope's Hall appeared before him.
Entering the hall with Yue Guan, Ning Bei saw a familiar figure seated on a high throne.
With deep pink hair tied behind her and the luxurious crown of the Pope adding elegance, Bibi Dong lazily supported her chin with one hand, crossing her legs. The dark high heels, adorned with gemstones, swayed rhythmically as her half-closed eyes followed Ning Bei's approach.
"Your Majesty, Ning Bei has arrived."
"Mhm, you may leave."
The seductive, authoritative voice echoed through the hall. Yue Guan nodded and left, leaving only Bibi Dong and Ning Bei in the vast hall.
Ning Bei studied her curiously. Her eyes now had a mix of unspoken complexity and a hint of wariness.
Ning Bei couldn't help but wonder if she was on something.
Neither of them spoke at first, simply staring at each other.
Bibi Dong casually tapped the armrest of her throne, seemingly lost in thought.
After a long silence, Ning Bei couldn't stand the atmosphere any longer and broke the silence:
"I say, Your Majesty, did you call me here just to see you slacking off?"
