Chapter 270: The Purple Pearl Pirates Defeated
Purple Pearl's heart stirred. If these people were telling the truth, she could easily escape from this crisis.
This confidence wasn't unfounded. Nami 's innocent face and her description of her abilities were quite deceptive.
Though she didn't think she would lose, Purple Pearl still planned to give it her all. After all, she was in the business of killing and robbing, and she knew well the importance of going all out, even when facing a rabbit.
"You better be careful, little girl," she warned with a final glance.
With that, her fourth soul ring immediately lit up.
"Fourth Soul Skill: Sea Viper's Fury!"
As a soul master of the ocean, Purple Pearl took full advantage of her surroundings. She channeled her soul power through the sea, transforming it into several massive sea vipers that charged toward Nami , aiming to tear her apart.
Nami didn't show the slightest sign of panic. She summoned her Tide Summoner Mermaid, and her fifth black soul ring began to ripple.
Seeing Nami 's soul ring configuration of one yellow, two purple, and two black, Purple Pearl's heart sank. This girl seemed like she was no easy opponent!
"Fifth Soul Skill: Source Water Barrier."
A translucent water barrier, in the shape of a hemisphere, surrounded Nami . Purple Pearl frowned. As a ten-thousand-year soul skill, this water barrier was certainly not simple. However, she couldn't discern its purpose, so she commanded the sea vipers to continue charging at the barrier.
What surprised Purple Pearl was that the sea vipers collided with the water barrier but didn't break through. Instead, part of their bodies gradually merged with the barrier. By the time the vipers had finished their initial charge, they had shrunk by more than half.
"My soul power is being absorbed by the barrier?"
Purple Pearl watched as her soul power was gradually pulled toward Nami through the water barrier. A sense of regret surged within her. This girl seemed like the nemesis of sea soul masters.
But now that the battle had begun, there was no turning back. All she could do was give her best effort to break through the water barrier in front of Nami .
There was no need for further testing. With a determined look, Purple Pearl activated her sixth soul ring.
"Sixth Soul Skill: Phantom Snake."
Before she could finish speaking, Nami withdrew the water barrier in front of her. Her eyes glowed with a deep blue light.
"Feng Shui Binding Trap!"
Purple Pearl, who was in the middle of releasing her soul skill, was abruptly interrupted. She felt an invisible force binding her in place, unable to move, even losing the ability to speak.
Looking at the motionless woman before her, Nami 's lips curved into a slight smile. She raised one hand and opened her fingers, aiming them directly at Purple Pearl.
"Self-Created Soul Skill: Xuan Shui Ball!"
Soul power gathered into a water sphere twenty centimeters in diameter that began to spin rapidly and irregularly in Nami 's palm. Once it was fully formed, Nami used her soul power to push the powerful water ball toward the helpless Purple Pearl.
This skill was an improvement Nami made to the Spiral Ball taught by Ning Bei. By adding water elements to her no-attribute soul power, the effect wasn't significantly stronger, but against fire-type soul masters, the results could be unpredictable.
"Boom!"
The water ball exploded in front of Purple Pearl, sending her flying several dozen meters. She landed hard on the ground, looking up at Nami in shock, blood slowly seeping from the corner of her mouth.
"What was that just now? A soul bone skill?"
Purple Pearl was clearly referring to the soul skill that had trapped her in place. While she was surprised by the Xuan Shui Ball, it hadn't yet overwhelmed her.
"Just consider it one of my self-created soul skills. Now, you've lost!" Nami said, her voice calm.
Purple Pearl's mouth curled into a bitter smile. As a Soul Emperor, being completely defeated by a Soul King like this was a huge humiliation. However, with Ning Bei around, she dared not defy him.
"I admit defeat. Before you leave the sea, I will honor my promise."
On the soul guide ship, Ning Rong Rong and Xiao Wu cheered for Nami , showering her with praises, making the young girl blush.
"Hey, where are you guys going? I don't think the direction you're heading is towards Han Hai City."
After returning to the soul guide ship, Purple Pearl looked at Ning Bei in confusion, wondering where they were headed next. She needed to calculate how long she would be their maid.
"To Sea God Island!" Ning Bei answered.
"What? Aren't you land soul masters? I suggest you abandon this idea," Purple Pearl said, shocked. She knew the two possible outcomes for outsiders going to Sea God Island: either they were expelled immediately or never returned again.
Ning Bei understood why she said that but had confidence in his little ones. He believed they could pass the trials, so he didn't take her advice to heart.
"We are indeed land soul masters. As for what we'll do on Sea God Island and whether we can return, you don't need to worry about that. You just need to get us close to the island. During this time, we'll leave everything else to you."
"Tch, do whatever you want. Such kindness, and you think I'll be grateful?" Purple Pearl muttered.
In reality, Ning Bei had only brought her along to arrange meals for the group on the way to Sea God Island. Coincidentally, none of the five women on the ship were skilled in cooking. Over the past few days, they either burned the food or used the wrong seasoning. The meals served were so bad that even dogs would shake their heads.
Ning Bei didn't want to live on dry rations for the rest of the trip, and it was perfect timing that this woman had appeared.
"Aren't you afraid I'll poison your food?" Purple Pearl asked, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
Ning Bei rolled his eyes dismissively. What poison could possibly affect Yan Zi? With her martial soul, she would detect any poison long before it could take effect.
However, since she brought it up, Ning Bei decided to take precautions. He walked over to her and lightly patted her shoulder.
Purple Pearl immediately felt an icy, bone-chilling soul power spreading from her shoulder throughout her body. A shiver ran down her spine, and a trace of fear appeared on her face.
"What did you do?"
Ning Bei smiled wickedly. "Just a little trick. If you behave, I'll release it once we reach Sea God Island. But if you try to escape or poison us, the soul power on you will make you itch uncontrollably, and the more you scratch, the worse it will get."
"The end result will be that your body will be covered in frostbite, your skin will rot, and you'll die. I'm sure you don't want to die in such a miserable way, right?"
Purple Pearl stared at him in terror, trembling all over. She never expected the seemingly handsome man in front of her to be so ruthless.
"Are you... a devil?"
Thinking about her skin rotting, Purple Pearl felt a chill run from her feet to her head, and her face darkened as she glared at Ning Bei.
"Don't worry, if you keep your promise, I'll release you once we reach Sea God Island. There won't be any problems."
"Hmph, you better keep your word," she said, turning away.
She walked to the front of the ship and called to her crew.
"Heider, return to the base and wait for me. I'll be back in a few days."
