Chapter 38 - New Day Children's Home

In simple words, this city could be said to be rotten to the core. The influence of the gangsters had already invaded too deeply into the city that it was impossible to uproot them.

Within the government, it was inevitable that there would be quite a number of people who wanted to deal with the gangsters.

But the problem was, while they wanted to do it, did they really have the ability of doing it? Most of the people holding the highest positions within the city had a collaboration or two with the gangsters.

So, how was it possible for them to allow their subordinates to deal with their source of extra income?

Simply, most of the situations like the one experienced by the orphanage where Michael had been taken to, were usually turned a blind eye to.

But now, Michael had the intention of fixing something. With his current SP, he had the confidence of dealing with it.

Of course, he understood, no matter how rich he was, he would not be able to eliminate the gangsters within this city.

At the end of the day, these gangsters were just pawns for even bigger gangsters. So, if he killed one or two, someone else would replace them.

So, unless those huge syndicates were dealt with, it was impossible to diminish the influence of the gangsters within this city and a few others.

Regardless, Michael had no intention of dealing with all the gangsters within the city. Instead, he wanted to deal with Dante, who was the major culprit.

At least, during the time that he was within the orphanage, it was Dante who was in charge of the Shadow Assembly gang.

In fact, he was the one who had established this gang, so, it could be said that he was wholly responsible of everything that had happened so far.

Another reason why Michael wanted to deal with the issue related to the orphanage was because of the people within it.

He felt, there was no need for those kids to continue suffering so much, just to benefit some people that had the ability of working, and earning their own money.

Additionally, some people within the orphanage had taken good care of him, which was something that he could not forget. So, if he could lend them a hand, why not?

In fact, he was already contemplating something, but if it was going to work or not, he had to talk with the management of the orphanage.

While thinking about that, Michael decided to first of all sleep. After all, it was night time, which was not a suitable time for him to leave the hotel.

So, with his mind still wondering about on what he was going to do the following day, he unknowingly fell asleep.

By the time that he woke up, Michael realized that it was already 7:00 in the morning. And, he had only woken up because of the call, which obviously came from the front desk.

Usually, Michael would wake up as early as 5 a.m. in the morning, but this time, due to the lack of pressure, it seemed that his body and mind had relaxed, which led to him sleeping this whole time.

In real sense, he did not have an alarm set. He only depended on his biological clock to wake up, something that he had already gotten used to even during the time that he was working for Dante.

After confirming that the food should be sent over, Michael quickly rushed into the washroom, to freshen up.

By the time that he was done, the food had already been served. So, he quickly ate his breakfast, before he began packing his things.

Although he was packing, he was not actually leaving. The previous day, he had already extended his stay here for 2 more days.

He believed, within 2 days, he should be able to have completed everything that needed to be done, before departing.

To extend his stay here, he had only paid for the room, but not for the meals. So, this breakfast would have to be paid for after he was done.

After he was done with the packing, Michael quickly paid for the breakfast that he had taken, before he left the presidential suite, and the hotel as a whole.

After getting out of the hotel, he got into a taxi. As soon as he entered, the driver asked, "Where are we heading to, sir?"

"I'm heading to Ralo district, Flinch street." Michael stated.

"Okay." The driver nodded, before he began driving.

Michael did not want to continue staying idle. So, he decided, instead of just sitting idle on the back seats of the car, why not take the chance to advance the driving skills to the advanced level?

While it was impossible for him to be able to advance the skill to the advanced level within such a short time, but still, he should be able to progress by at least 1%, right?

As soon as he thought about that, he began downloading the PDF related to driving different types of vehicles, in different situations.

It was not just about how to handle a vehicle during a certain type of weather, but it also depended on the terrain of the road, the type of the road, the location and so on.

While several files were downloading, he began reading one of them as soon as it was downloaded.

Several minutes later, there was a notification from the system.

[Advanced level of Driving Skills. Progress: 1%.]

While Michael was still engrossed in reading the PDF, the driver arrived at Flinch street.

"We have arrived." The driver's words brought Michael back to his senses, and as he looked outside the car, he realized, they had already arrived.

Looking at the familiar street, Michael thought about the time that he had been coming to this street on a daily basis.

It was on this same street that Pulse fitness gym was located, but it was also within this street that the orphanage that he had been for 2 years was located.

The name of the orphanage was called New Day Children's Home, and it was run by an old couple.

They were the ones who had started the orphanage just after they retired. But soon, Dante and his goons took over the orphanage, through threats and blackmail.

While the old couple was benevolent, and did not want to see the children suffer, what could they do? They did not have the ability of resisting the Shadow Assembly gang.

So, all that they could try to do was to prevent children from being sent to the orphanage. And if they were brought over, they would try to sneak them to another orphanage, which was something that did not work out easily.

There was even a time that Michael had seen the old man's hand being broken, because he had tried to sneak away some kids that had just been recently brought into the orphanage.

Michael did not know the entire story, but he knew, somehow, the gangsters had found out about this, and they decided to punish the old man by breaking one of his arms.

Coming back to his senses, Michael alighted from the taxi after paying the taxi fare.

As he looked around, he could see people, both ordinary people and gangsters.

It was quite easy to be able to make a judgment of if a person was a gangster or not. After all, for ordinary people, one could see that while walking around, they seemed to be quite nervous, looking around cautiously.

But for the gangsters, they were so much carefree. Additionally, their attire, the tattoos on the exposed parts of their bodies, the hairstyles, the dyes on the hair and so on, all pointed towards the same direction, delinquents.

Coincidentally, the place that the taxi had stopped was not far away from the location of the orphanage. So, Michael began walking towards it.

It only took him around 3 minutes to be able to get to the location of the orphanage.

Considering that the orphanage was started by an old couple using their retirement pension, it was not grand. It was just a small compound that had three buildings.

One building was where the children slept, which was basically a dormitory. It was also the largest building within this compound.

Another building was the administration area, also the same place where the old couple and a few people who helped with cleaning and so on within the orphanage stayed.

As for the final building, it was the kitchen, but there was a storeroom, a room that was adjacent to the kitchen.

There was an open field, with an area of about 120 m², which was the place where children would usually play.

The orphanage was surrounded by a fence of barbed wire, and there was a gate, where Michael was standing. The gate itself was quite simple, with just a metallic frame and iron sheets being used as the body of the gates.

But as he arrived in front of the gate, Michael had no other choice but to stop, with a frown appearing on his face.

At this moment, he could see, it seemed that there was some kind of conflict within the orphanage, as there was a group of people that was gathered within the small field within the orphanage.
