Chapter 46 - Chapter 46: Lunch Alert

"Hey, hey... Iida-kun, shouldn't things like this be kept secret?" Yang Xiao rubbed his forehead. This guy was really straightforward and rigid.

"So it really was you..." Tenya Iida couldn't understand. He and Yang Xiao weren't friends; they had only spoken a few times. They'd exchanged just a few simple words during the entrance exam, and it hadn't been particularly pleasant, had it?

So the question was, why did Yang Xiao vote for him?

Could it be because he recognized his sense of responsibility and accountability?

"That guy actually voted for Four-Eyes?" Katsuki Bakugo said, somewhat displeased. He felt he had more potential to be class president—after all, he was so intimidating.

"Well, the class president is Izuku Midoriya, and the vice president is Tenya Iida," Shota Aizawa announced directly, based on the vote count on the blackboard.

"Is this... really okay?" Izuku Midoriya stood nervously at the podium. He never imagined he would become class president.

Tenya Iida stood beside Izuku Midoriya and patted his shoulder. "I believe you can shoulder this responsibility."

Meanwhile, Momo Yaoyorozu, sitting below, was a bit unwilling. Why did she and Tenya Iida have the same number of votes? Just because of the order on the blackboard, she didn't even get to be vice president.

"It seems pretty good," Tsuyu Asui commented, thinking Izuku Midoriya could handle being class president.

"Anyway, Midoriya is quite passionate," Eijiro Kirishima agreed that Izuku Midoriya should be class president.

And so, the matter of electing class representatives was settled, and it was time for lunch.

The cafeteria was crowded every day. Besides the Hero Course, there were many other departments, including the Support Course, Business Course, General Studies, etc.

This time, Yang Xiao specifically found the table where Tenya Iida was sitting and joined him.

"Yang Xiao-kun..." Tenya Iida looked at Yang Xiao, who had approached with a tray of food. He was momentarily stunned, then asked, "Why... did you vote for me?"

"No need to ask so many questions. I just think you're the most suitable candidate," Yang Xiao said, setting down his tray and starting to eat, completely ignoring Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uraraka sitting across from him.

"Ah... how can you say that? It feels a bit strange to me," Tenya Iida said awkwardly.

Izuku Midoriya looked at Tenya Iida. He always felt he wasn't suited to be class president, but Tenya Iida was very suitable, just as Yang Xiao had said.

"I believe Midoriya-kun's courage and judgment in critical moments make him qualified to lead everyone, so I voted for you. But I received two votes from others," Tenya Iida said truthfully. He had indeed voted for Izuku Midoriya.

"Ah, Iida-kun, so you were the one who gave me my other vote?" Izuku Midoriya only realized it now. Then where did his other vote come from?

"Yes, I cast that vote. But I'm very curious—aside from Yang Xiao-kun, who cast the other vote for me?" Tenya Iida adjusted his glasses, genuinely unable to guess who else had voted for him.

"Uh... Iida-kun, I was the one who cast your other vote," Izuku Midoriya said with an awkward smile.

"Ah, it was you, Midoriya-kun! I should have known!" Tenya Iida looked as if he'd had a sudden realization.

"Iida-kun, didn't you also want to be class president? So why did you vote for Midoriya-kun? If Yang Xiao-kun and Midoriya-kun hadn't voted for you, you wouldn't even have become vice president," Ochaco Uraraka said curiously. She felt Tenya Iida was being a bit contradictory.

"Wanting to be something and being suitable for it are two different things. I simply made the judgment I believed was correct," Tenya Iida said seriously.

"'I'?" Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uraraka said in unison. "Don't you usually refer to yourself as 'watashi'?"

"Actually, I've been a bit curious about something, Iida-kun. Are you... from a wealthy family?" Ochaco Uraraka looked seriously at Tenya Iida.

Tenya Iida was slightly surprised upon hearing this. He turned his head and met Yang Xiao's gaze. "Don't look at me like that."

"Okay, I'll eat," Yang Xiao said, picking up his chopsticks and continuing his meal. A crowd would gather soon, so he wasn't in a hurry to leave.

"I changed the way I refer to myself because I disliked being called that," Tenya Iida sighed and said. "Yes, my family is a hero family passed down through generations, and I am the second son."

"That sounds amazing," Izuku Midoriya said, looking at Tenya Iida with envy.

Tenya Iida continued, "Have you heard of the Turbo Hero: Ingenium?"

"Of course!" Izuku Midoriya exclaimed directly. "He's that super-popular hero with 65 sidekicks at his Tokyo agency, right?"

"Uh... could it be..." Izuku Midoriya suddenly realized what Tenya Iida was implying...

"You guessed right. He's my older brother," Tenya Iida said proudly. "He's a hero who values rules, leads people, and is beloved by everyone. I admire that kind of older brother very much, so I'm determined to become a hero myself. But I think it's still too early for me to lead others."

At this point, Tenya Iida looked at Izuku Midoriya. "But Midoriya-kun, you're different. You figured out the scoring system during the entrance practical exam. If you can surpass me, it's only right for you to take the position."

"It feels like it's the first time I've seen you smile, Iida-kun," Ochaco Uraraka stared at Tenya Iida.

"Is that so!? Of course I smile!" Tenya Iida felt a bit embarrassed. Indeed, he was usually a serious person.

Just then, Yang Xiao suddenly sped up his eating, finishing most of the food on his plate.

"Yang Xiao-kun, is there something making you eat so hurriedly?" Ochaco Uraraka looked at Yang Xiao curiously.

"Oh, no, I'm just hungry," Yang Xiao laughed. By now, he had finished all the rice and dishes on his plate.

Tenya Iida and the other two still had half their meals left and were busy chatting.

"Wee-oo~ Wee-oo~ Wee-oo~!!!"

Suddenly, the school alarm blared, and everyone heard it clearly.

"Security Level 3 has been breached," an emotionless voice announced over the intercom. "All students, please evacuate to the outdoors immediately."

"Wow, U.A.'s security was breached?" a student shouted loudly.

"Why aren't you running? Are you waiting to die?" someone suddenly yelled.

The words "waiting to die" immediately spurred many anxious and timid students to jump up and rush madly toward the passageway—the only spacious exit in the cafeteria. Everyone ran in that direction.
