Chapter 146 - The First Match, Defeat!

"Anyone who tries to stop us will..."

BOOM!

A nearly spherical metal head crashed down from the sky, landing at Magneto's feet.

Upon closer inspection, it was the head of a Sentinel Robot.

WHAP!

A nimble figure dropped from the sky, landing between Magneto and the safe house.

Peter stood up, looking at Magneto. "What happens to those who stop you? Do they end up like this round, dusty head?"

"You're... the Spider from the streets of New York?" Magneto looked at Peter, and after a moment of confusion, recognized him.

The Amazing Spider-Man had been active on the streets for a year, and whether it was the X-Mansion, the Brotherhood of Mutants, or other factions, they all had paid attention to him, either openly or covertly.

Magneto was no exception.

He'd once considered having Mystique recruit Spider-Man into the Brotherhood of Mutants. However, he later discovered that, aside from initially using his abilities for selfish reasons, Amazing Spider-Man mostly used them to help ordinary people.

Seeing this, Magneto lost interest in him.

He believed that, although this Spider-Man might be a mutant who had undergone some kind of mutation, he didn't align with their Brotherhood's ideals. Instead, he was quite similar to Charles's so-called X-Men, with their outdated views.

But since Spider-Man only operated in New York, and his activities rarely overlapped with theirs, Magneto didn't bother with him.

What Magneto hadn't anticipated was that even though he hadn't paid attention, Mystique had taken his words to heart.

Although they had analyzed and determined that this "Spider-Man" was, at most, a Level 3 mutant, Mystique had still tried to recruit him.

Of course, that was in the original timeline.

However, at this moment, Magneto frowned slightly as he looked at Peter.

Don't know why, but he felt like the other person wasn't a mutant?

Also, their strength didn't seem to match their previous assessments?

He looked down at his feet.

Could a Level 3 mutant take out a Sentinel that quickly?

Besides, the few over there were still locked in a fierce battle!

"I never thought the great Magneto would know a little spider like me? What an honor," Peter said with feigned humility.

"What are you doing here, instead of staying in New York?" Magneto narrowed his eyes at him.

"I'm here to talk terms with you," Peter said.

"I'm not interested in your nonsense!" Magneto waved his hand, and a car nearby flew up and smashed towards Peter.

Peter jumped in place, shot out webbing from both hands, and then did a spin in the air.

Whoosh!

The car that was flying towards him was flung back the other way!

Magneto frowned slightly, extending a finger.

The car that had smashed in front of him split in two and flew behind him.

Then, the two halves of the car quickly transformed behind him, becoming metal spears that lunged towards Peter again.

"Whoa, I thought you were going to build me a Transformer?" Peter landed on the ground, bouncing around.

But he quickly realized how strange Magneto's abilities were.

These metal spears were all affected by magnetism, making them seem alive and incredibly agile.

So, unless he could find a way to catch them all, he would only be chased endlessly.

Actually, Peter had originally wanted to try and increase the amount of metal Magneto was controlling, to make him "unable to split his attention."

But he quickly realized that there was no such thing as being unable to split his attention! This guy was completely at ease!

While dodging the metal spears, he observed the situation here. Then, he was shocked to discover a problem: why was there a huge stadium next to the Black Palace?

He then looked at Magneto, and realized with some horror: it seemed like it was almost certainly his masterpiece?

WTF!

What kind of monster is this!

After realizing this, he abandoned his original, ridiculous plan.

Give me a break, the guy could control an entire stadium's worth of metal, and a few metal spears were supposed to be a problem?

Even if the former was about quantity and just needed enough power, while the latter required micro-control and was delicate work.

But when the quantity was large enough, many things became meaningless.

Brute force overcomes everything.

It's crude, but it's true.

Peter was thankful that the suit he was wearing as the Amazing Spider-Man didn't have any metal in it, unlike the high-tech suit Iron Man from his universe had given him.

If he were wearing that suit, he probably wouldn't even need to fight; he'd be controlled immediately!

Perhaps, there was another way. Peter turned to look at Magneto, who was standing to the side.

If he could catch Magneto, it would all be over.

Peter thought, changing his tactics.

While dodging, he reached out and grabbed a few metal spears, flinging them towards Magneto with all his might.

One, two, three... If you looked closely, you could see that spider webbing was actually attached to the back of these metal spears! In the ancient martial arts of some countries, there were techniques that involved sickles, hammers, and the like, with chains attached to the end, such as kusarigama, meteor hammers, and flails.

And in the Spider-Fighting Style, which drew on the strengths of many styles, there were also similar techniques.

Peter usually used his webbing to grab things like trash cans and hurl them, which was essentially using the meteor hammer technique.

As his abilities improved, Peter naturally became more adept at applying these techniques.

So, Magneto discovered that Peter was actually competing with him for control of the metal spears!

Although his control ability was very strong, each of Peter's throws carried nearly 20 tons of force (the Amazing Spider-Man's body).

The main problem was the proximity!

At the same distance, he could easily control bullets fired at him, because the mass of the bullets was very small.

But a metal spear weighed hundreds of kilograms, and the kinetic energy it contained was imaginable.

Controlling such an object with powerful kinetic energy was also very difficult for Magneto.

So, he quickly changed his combat strategy.

Magneto relinquished control of the metal spears, crumpling them into a ball and tossing them aside.

Then, a smirk played on his lips as he curled his fingers.

Thud! Thud!

Two quiet sounds echoed from Peter's wrists.

Peter's Spider-Sense activated at the same moment, but it was already too late!

The only metal component on the Amazing Spider-Man's suit was on his Web-Shooters.

However, during the previous two battles with Electro, the Web-Shooters had been affected by Electro's powers, so Amazing Spider-Man had demagnetized them.

Moreover, the area was small, and Magneto hadn't noticed it initially.

But during their recent exchange, he had discovered this!

Therefore, the Web-Shooters were manipulated by Magneto into two steel spikes, directly piercing Peter's body!
