Davina's POV
I stumbled over something and nearly crashed face-first into the ground, but Chase's hand darted out, catching me before I could hit the pavement.
My knees gave out, my heart hammering so violently I thought it might explode from my ribcage.
Tears already drenched my face, burning streams cascading down my cheeks and splashing onto my shirt. Terror consumed my entire body—my hands shook uncontrollably, my breathing came in ragged, desperate gasps.
"He was right here...he was right here, where did he...
Cooper!"
"Davina, breathe. We'll locate him," Chase said steadily, attempting to stabilize me, but his words sounded distant, muffled somehow.
I wasn't focusing on my brother. I couldn't even process his voice. My gaze swept frantically in every direction, wild and desperate, hunting.
Strangers walked past, some shooting me curious looks, others murmuring, but I couldn't care less. Cooper consumed every thought.
