Flashback
I looked him straight in the eye while he struggled against them.
They were trying to force him into the car, but he kept fighting, insisting that he needed to speak to me one last time.
He kept saying I had to listen to him because I was still his mate.
And that was when it hit me. He was not wrong.
We were still tied by the mate bond. I had to face him.
So I walked over calmly and stood in front of him.
"Baby, give me one chance," he pleaded, smiling as if he could still melt my heart.
That smile might have worked on me before, but not anymore.
I was long over him. There was nothing he could do to win me back.
So I just stared at him.
"Please, baby, don't look at me so coldly. I know you're sweet deep down, and I know you love me," he murmured.
A quiet chuckle escaped me as I bit my lip, trying to hide how pathetic I found this whole act. He still believed he could fool me.
That was how much of an idiot I had made myself in his eyes.
