Soren strolled out, and Caelen glanced at him reaching. He remembered the feelings and looked away.
He is one of the killers of my father. Just look at him smiling casually at me, repeating the same words that he loves me. He doesn't know what type of pain I have been carrying.
Caelen stood up, "I have to go, it's already so late. I have been getting calls."
"Alright, but don't go by yourself. You can take Moren's security..."
"It's alright," Caelen's voice was dry and sharp. He quickly walked away.
Soren's eyes followed him until he disappeared. "What are you doing here?" He turned to Moren, who fidgeted and looked down.
"I was worried about..."
"I told you," Soren shouted and Moren flinched. Then his voice went low, "I told you not to worry about me."
"I know, but..." He stood up, "okay, if Caelen asked you to stop worrying, would you be able to do so?"
"What?"
"Isn't he the university boy?" Moren stepped back. His voice was timid.
"How do you know about that? Did he say anything?"
"You make it too obvious," Moren bit his lower lip, "and..."
"You should stop using your brain," Soren walked ahead navigating through the hall, "no one takes wild guesses like you do."
"Wait." Suddenly Soren turned around at which Moren stopped. "And what?"
Moren stayed silent, his eyes wandering in the hall as he avoided looking at him.
"Did you say anything about it to him?" Soren insisted, "don't tell me you were being nosy in my matters again."
Silence.
"Why are you silent? What did you say?"
"I just said that Dad would try to separate you two since he is a beta and can't bring offspring. Then he said he wasn't dating you... That's all."
"Wait, you took a wild guess again?"
Silence.
Soren let out a sigh and walked away. In a moment, they were both settled in the backseat of the car. They stayed silent for a long while.
"I am sorry about what happened at the event," Moren talked, "I begged Dad not to say anything."
"Don't make me leave you on the road all alone." Soren didn't look at him, his eyes wandering outside the car's window.
"It's a big step in my life to finish such a big project that's why I wanted you to be there. I invited you to be there for me, not for Dad's image-making." Moren's voice was emotional as if he would tear up. "What Dad did has nothing to do with me."
"But you keep forgetting that I am not your brother!" Soren turned around to glare at him.
"But you came. You never gave a damn about Dad's biggest business events, yet you came."
Soren's eyes rounded. He swears too?
"I know you came there just for me."
"No," Soren countered, "I just wanted more time with Caelen."
Moren, you gotta stop trying to get close to me. Otherwise, Dad would start to hate you too.
Moren looked at him with puppy eyes, "are you sure?"
"Do I look like I'm not?" He snarled at which Moren looked out of the window, and the next fifteen minutes went in silence.
"You were drinking too much. Stop drinking like that, even if you have to toast to others. It's not safe." Soren's words made him turn to look at Soren, and a faint smile appeared on his face.
Although Moren was happy with his words, little did he do to follow them. He was drinking the same the very next day, and it seemed like he had no choice.
"Moren?" He turned around at a bright voice. An unfamiliar face was standing in front of him, a tall, buffed man in a red sweater over a black shirt. His chiseled lips wore a warm smile. His eyes, with light brown lenses, were looking right into his.
What a weird dressing for a business party.
"Your father wants me to be acquainted with you," he said, showing his teeth in a full smile.
"Oh, I am Moren, CEO of Thane Digitals," Moren spread his arm for a handshake.
He grabbed Moren's hand in his big palms, and Moren's hand almost disappeared. "I am Zane, the CEO of Arcene Cosmetics. Nice meeting you."
That explains his dressing. His ears have a lot of piercings too.
"If you don't mind, would you like to join us at our table?" he invited, gesturing to a table where four men and one woman were seated.
"Sure," Moren smiled, "after you."
"Hi, I am Moren, CEO of Thane Digitals. Pardon me for joining you." He bowed before settling down.
"Hi, nice to meet you."
"You are welcome."
They introduced themselves one by one. In a moment, they were having fun chatting with Moren. Moren had a way with words, all thanks to his long time conversation lessons and practices. Now that he had been using those tactics for years, he got the hang of it.
Zane kept staring at him all the while as he was drinking and talking with others.
"I think I should head out now if I don't want to collapse and look ugly like a monkey," Moren said and everyone laughed along with him.
He stood up and stumbled, but Zane grabbed him quickly into his arms.
"Thanks," Moren freed himself from his grip, "then see you around."
Moren walked slowly towards the restroom as he pressed his fingers against his temple.
"Moren!" His father called, "come here."
Moren sprinted towards his dad, and he was shaking hands with business personnel once again and chugging down more alcohol. Zane was still looking at him as he settled back down.
"He seems like a good person, isn't he?" one of his friends commented.
"Yeah," he chugged down the remaining alcohol in his glass.
"Pretty handsome too," the female added, "although he is just a beta."
"Are you interested in him?" Zane asked as he turned to look at her.
"Not really, but it's not a bad idea."
"That's good. Now get rid of any idea because I am interested in him."
"Excuse me, Sir Zane, he is a beta, not an omega. You don't even like betas."
"Yeah, I usually don't, but I like him and I think I want to pursue him."
"Azak, just leave him alone. He is being silly because he is drunk," the other male friend commented.
Zane just smirked as his eyes drifted back to Moren.
