001. Quite the name to be given. I can't say that I'm surprised the government wouldn't allow them to have real names. It would mean they are actually considered to be human instead.
If they aren't given real names they can just be used as weapons for the government to get what they want. Nobody will feel bad either so it is more of a win for them then.
"I'll figure out something better to call you later. But for now we need to get through this gunfight." I said with a serious tone.
"That was already the plan." 001 replied while staying behind the cover.
It still doesn't add up to why she's out here by herself since she is one of the experimental units. There should be a few others lurking around the environment if anything.
"Aren't there others out there? Like comrades of yours?" I asked with a curious tone.
"Yes. My patrol mate. 021 should be around somewhere." 001 answered with a concerned tone.
So I was right that more than one of them were out here.
"I didn't think the government started testing you guys already." I said with a bit of a surprised tone.
Gunfire was still going off around us but it felt normal to me. Other people might to be used to this kind of situation but this is just the normal in Kairox.
"It is the best way to make sure we are ready and prepared for anything that comes." 001 responded while taking another quick glance.
Before I knew it, I could feel someone grip my shoulder from behind. "You don't seem to be a threat but I'm sure that you aren't a good person either." The voice spoke, definitely robotic but still it kept a serious tone.
"021 he's with me. We've been pinned down by these watchers." 001 chimed in with a calm tone.
"I told you to just call me Alysia instead of that dreadful number. Just like I gave you the name Rena. It is a lot better than the numbers." She said with a bit of an irritated tone.
I turned my head to see who this patrol mate was since this girl was helping keep me alive.
A girl with short wavy blue hair, blue eyes, wearing an all black soldier uniform fit with traces of blue throughout the suit, a few utility pouches or maybe ammo pouches, and the obvious cybernetic arms.
She had a rather serious expression on her face as well, I'm assuming this wasn't what she was hoping to deal with.
"I'll break the tension a little bit. I'm Zero and I just am here looking for someone, nothing more." I spoke up with a laid back tone.
Can't really notice much tension with all this damn gunfire around us anyway. Just felt like the right time to speak since the two of them feel awkward to be around.
There is definitely a lot more important things going on right now.
But I also couldn't help but notice the assault rifle in her hand, it was kind of hard not to notice it.
"You have a very interesting sniper, Zero. Hopefully we can finish this gunfight a bit faster. Also, there was no tension." Alysia said with a serious tone.
"I think we can. You just brought extra strength to this fight." I replied while lifting up the LZR-01.
I don't know what's better to refer to them as but she seems pretty intent on ignoring the numbers. Might be best to call them by the actual names she said for the time being.
Alysia walked right past me and I could see her locking onto the enemies along the rooftops. The sound of the assault rifle in her hands was all I could hear, the other guns were starting to go silent.
I wasn't going to be shown up by some experimental cyborg so it was time for me to take more shots as well.
The mana started to surge through my arm into the LZR-01 once again and I began to take my shots. VRRRR-KRZTTTT. BANG!! One shot after another I could see the ice piercing through the enemies all around us.
Slowly I began to realize that I was starting to run out of ammo but it seems like the gunfire was dying down. I think we finally took out enough of these pricks to be done with this bullshit.
It is definitely interesting to see these cyborgs up close like this. People dream of getting such metal put into their bodies but never actually see it happen.
Even those with a lot of metal won't match up to a cyborg like her. The government is definitely working on some crazy tech if this is what they have.
"They finally stopped shooting, safe to assume they are dead or ran off." Alysia said with a bit of confidence.
"Then I guess this is where we depart. I don't plan to interfere with whatever you guys have going on." I responded while slinging the sniper over my back.
I know I definitely still have ammo for the deagle but I'm not too sure about how much is left for the LZR-01. I wasn't expecting to have a gunfight against that many damn pricks in one go.
"I appreciate you helping out Rena. I'm sure this won't be the last time we see each other. We are going to be roaming the streets more anyway." Alysia said with a serious tone.
"I'm sure it'll make a difference." I replied before beginning to walk off.
"Best of luck finding whoever you are looking for!" Rena shouted.
I gave her a simple wave before continuing on with my search. Bodies were all over the rooftops up there and so was the ice from my mana rounds.
Sucks to be the guy who cleans all of that shit up. It definitely won't be me so at least I don't have to worry about that.
