Finally I made it back to the Vantablade turf or at least what their turf used to be. This place still reeks of death but that is thanks to me.
Parking out of sight would be the best idea in a place like this. Not going to take a chance getting myself shot up again.
Click. Shut! I got out the car and closed the door, there was also no reason for me to waste any time. Renji was here last so I want to find some sort of trace of him here.
Patter. Patter. Seems like it just started raining as well.
I'll definitely be cautious looking around for him since a bunch of guys showed up last time. Guys that I know nothing about, don't really want to deal with some random gang.
Especially when they were coming here to meet Vantablade. I'm surprised anyone would want to deal with them but they obviously got what they wanted.
Vanta was dead either way.
With those thoughts lingering I began my search of the area, trying to find any sort of signs. Renji is clumsy so there's no way he wouldn't leave some sort of sign for me to find.
My steps were a bit muffled by the sounds of the rain pouring down all around me, but yet something still felt off. Eyes were lingering on me but I have no clue where from.
SHOVE!! Suddenly I was pushed out of the way as bullets began to spray all around me, a man standing before me holding some sort of modified shield.
After seeing what was happening I got back up and pulled out the LZR-01, I wasn't going to sit around and do nothing. The person standing before me definitely wasn't Renji and they seem to have a feminine appearance.
I can tell it is a woman but that's a surprise to see out here in this side of Kairox. Most won't travel throughout this sector without a decent group of people.
"There's a lot more than I expected. What the hell are you doing wandering around out here?!" She asked with a confused tone.
Her voice was a bit muffled by the half mask she was obviously wearing, but I could definitely tell now. Everything else was concealed by her trench coat and hood, but that shield is unique.
Mana is clearly radiating out from it to add even more protection from bullets.
"Looking for someone. Who are those guys?" I responded with my own question.
"The Watchers, or well they are posing as them but it doesn't add up." She answered while tightening her grip on the shield.
The watchers? I don't know a damn thing about some watchers but this girl is also a mystery. All I know is that they can be killed so it is time to do what I'm best at.
Kill. Kill. Kill. Lets get it done.
I lifted up my rifle and immediately looked through the scope, they weren't hard to find at all so without wasting a second I started to fire. The Mana helped push past the slow fire rate, that's why it is able to fire a lot better than it used to.
VRRRR-KRZTTTT!! One shot after another while watching bodies slowly drop onto the ground. Her providing cover with the shield was the perfect opportunity for me to take them out.
After taking out a few of them I realized that we were still pinned down, where there really that many of them?
I quickly swapped my magazine to a new one while waiting for the next opportunity to fire again.
"That rifle is strong as hell. They just keep coming though. I wasn't expecting a gunfight like this today." She said with a bit of a shocked tone.
"I wasn't either but it'll be fine." I replied with confidence.
Of course there's no guarantee that I have enough ammo for all of these assholes but this isn't the time to worry. I've got to make it through this so that I can find Renji.
Some powered up mana shots would definitely be smart to use right about now so that is the next part of the plan.
I started to aim once again while pushing some mana into the LZR-01, allowing me to fire off the stronger shots. As I pulled the trigger once again I could see it hit right next to a group of them.
PIERCE!!!! The ice shot was what I hoped for. I could see it explode, leading to a bunch of ice piercing through each one of them that it hit up there.
BANG! BANG!!! BANG!!!! Gunshots just continued to go all around us as I sat back against the wall.
Ive definitely killed quite a bit of them so what the hell is the right approach here? I'm starting to draw a blank and I know that there is definitely way too many of them.
I also don't know how long her shield will hold up against these guys, especially since mana does need time to come back.
"Maybe you should get in cover too. Burning out that mana will get you killed." I advised while sitting back behind a wall.
"Shit! Yeah, you're right." She responded before quickly shifting behind the wall as well.
"You have to give it a chance to recharge a bit before using it again. We have a bit of time to breathe anyway since they aren't pushing up on us." I said while checking my ammo.
"Who even are you"? She asked with a curious tone.
"I don't usually tell random people my name but you did save my life. Zero is my name." I answered with a bit of irritation in my voice.
"I'm 001. I don't really have a name, I come from an experimental unit." She Introduced herself after hearing my name.
Experimental unit? Also having a number as her name would mean that she's part of the... Cyborg like unit that the government has been working on.
I didn't think they were out being tested like this.
