Killer Croc glared fiercely at Selina upon hearing this.
"As long as she gives me back the money!"
"I told you, we were both tricked by Poison Ivy, the money isn't with me anymore!"
Selina was also annoyed. How could she not make this savage beast understand?
But Batman, observing, knew that Killer Croc wasn't failing to understand; he was just anxious.
He was afraid that what Poison Ivy told him—that he could return to being a normal person—was false, and that terrified him more than the money being stolen.
So Batman took a step forward and restrained the agitated Killer Croc.
"Quiet, Killer Croc, I'll get to the bottom of this for you."
"But before that, I need you to stay in prison and wait for my news."
"You promise!" Killer Croc grumbled.
Batman promised him, and Killer Croc quieted down.
Not long after, the person Batman contacted arrived, and a helicopter landed on the helipad.
Then a Black woman stepped out; she was Amanda Waller.
Although her superior's situation had encountered some trouble, Amanda still managed to ascend to a management position thanks to Hawkman's connections.
Ever since Hawkman was intercepted after entering the South America jungle that day, he had taken an interest in the Umbrella company.
For some time now, he had been trying to uncover the company's secrets, but it was clear that his technology couldn't bypass Cotana 433's firewall.
This greatly surprised Carter Hall; he had always believed his technology represented the cutting edge of this Planet, but the facts told him otherwise.
Since ordinary methods couldn't uncover Umbrella's secrets, Carter finally thought it over and decided to cooperate with Amanda.
He wanted to use official power to investigate Umbrella, and Amanda was at the time overwhelmed by her superior's affairs, so of course she wouldn't ignore the olive branch Carter extended.
One must know that as a wealthy man who had reincarnated many times, Carter's financial power was not to be underestimated, and Amanda was happy to cooperate with such a big capitalist.
The final outcome was pretty much as Dane had estimated: Amanda's former superior only caused her minor trouble, and she ultimately rose to a high position.
But this also brought her and the Justice Society, represented by Hawkman, into a closer relationship.
One of the first things Amanda did after taking office was to propose the construction of special prisons.
To detain some super criminals with special abilities, and Killer Croc was one of her targets.
Batman didn't like this woman, because her ambition was very strong, even undisguised.
But she now represented official power, the legitimacy of the rule of law, so he had to endure his annoyance with her.
"I really hope next time, you'll notify us before acting, Batman."
Amanda narrowed her eyes at him, her expression cold.
"Just do what you're supposed to do, Waller," Batman said coldly. "You have no right to tell me what to do in my city."
Amanda didn't respond to his words; instead, she turned her head to look at Selina.
"Selina, this is an important crime…"
"She's not a criminal!" Batman rudely interrupted her:
"Selina is an important informant in this case; she needs to come with me."
Amanda warned in a low voice: "Batman, don't forget, you're not a detective, you have no right to investigate or enforce the law!"
Batman disdained to answer her words, and also disdained the warning contained in her words.
In front of Amanda and all the task force members, he picked up Selina, then shot out a grappling hook and flew away.
Amanda looked in the direction they left, an icy expression on her face.
She pointed at Killer Croc lying on the ground and ordered her subordinates: "Take him away!"
Batman didn't put Amanda in his eyes at all; at this time, although she had already been promoted to management, she was clearly not qualified enough to gain his attention.
Based on the clues provided by Selina, Batman quickly found Poison Ivy's hiding place.
It was a giant botanical garden, filled with all kinds of plants, a stronghold very characteristic of Poison Ivy.
When Batman and Selina arrived, Poison Ivy was helping some flowers pollinate.
"Poison Ivy."
Poison Ivy saw them at a glance, but she didn't care.
"You actually have time to come here? I thought you'd be with Nightwing right now."
Selina was the first to lose patience; she accused Poison Ivy: "You actually controlled me and made me steal things for you!"
Poison Ivy heard this and remained unhurried, "My dear, you need evidence when you speak. How do you prove what you say is true?"
With that, she looked at Batman with a hint of mockery:
"Great Mr. Batman, what evidence do you have to prove that I did this?"
"Or are you saying you believed this thief's one-sided story?"
Seeing her deny it and still try to sow discord.
Selina couldn't control her temper and immediately kicked at her.
But Poison Ivy remained unmoved, which made Batman feel confused.
He knew that Poison Ivy's fighting skills were actually inferior to Selina's; without using her plant-manipulating abilities, she would easily be knocked down by Selina.
But just as Selina's leg was about to connect with Poison Ivy, a figure descended from the sky and grabbed her ankle.
Selina winced and tried to pull back, but found the other party's hand was like a vice, unmoving.
And Batman, behind her, now had pupils shrunk to pinpricks.
"Superman!"
"That's right, it's him."
Poison Ivy's body was lifted by a giant vine, looking down at Batman and Selina.
At this time, the young Clark had not yet met the woman he would deeply love; facing Poison Ivy's control, he predictably fell victim.
And when Batman saw this situation, his first reaction wasn't to find a way to defeat him, but to feel that he had discovered a new weakness of Kryptonian!
"Kill them!" Poison Ivy pointed at Batman and Selina, giving a cold command.
"Run… run…"
Clark's expression was struggling, as if he was trying to break free from the control.
But after a while, his eyes lit up with red light.
"Heat vision!"
Batman cursed under his breath, rolling directly with Catwoman in his arms.
The next instant, two red rays struck the spot, burning a huge hole in the ground.
Seeing this, Catwoman gasped!
"What in the world is he?"
Batman had no time to explain. He quickly manipulated the screen on his arm, and his suit assembled two cylindrical objects resembling soda cans.
He pressed the switch and threw them directly into the gaps in the plants.
Just as Poison Ivy and Catwoman were bewildered, the two canisters burst open, and a smell of gas permeated the air.
Poison Ivy's face changed, and she quickly stopped Clark from firing his heat vision.
If he continued to burn, this botanical garden would be completely destroyed!
Batman once again accurately struck Poison Ivy's weakness.
Each time, he threatened her with her plants, making Poison Ivy seethe with anger.
At this moment, Batman and Catwoman emerged, wearing respirators.
Poison Ivy immediately wanted to signal Superman to act, but Batman took out a lighter.
"You can try. We'll see if he's faster, or if I'm faster at lighting this."
Poison Ivy didn't dare to gamble...
