Chapter 56 - Chapter 55 Harleen Quinzel

"What did that bandaged man make you do?" Dane asked.

"He made me control Catwoman to steal the 10 million U.S. dollars that Killer Croc had extorted through kidnapping."

"Then put that money in a designated location, and finally, he made me control Superman to deal with Batman."

Dane tapped the table, concentrating deeply.

Poison Ivy didn't dare to disturb him, but her eyes darted around, wondering what he was thinking.

"How do you contact each other?"

"He contacts me unilaterally; I can't find him."

Finding Hush is not difficult, because Dane only needs to keep an eye on Thomas Elliot or dig up Riddler's grave to find out.

But Dane doesn't plan to do that.

Clark hasn't fully appeared in public yet, but Hush can use him, obviously knowing him very well.

And in this World, there is only one person who understands Clark's personality and can design such a plan against him.

That is Batman; only he would do that.

But Batman is not Hush; Hush must have stolen this plan from his Batcomputer through some method and applied it to Superman.

So Dane called Cortana.

"Cortana."

"I'm here, Dane."

"Cortana, please check Batman's computer for me and see if anyone has tampered with it."

Ever since Dane easily breached the Batcomputer's firewall that day, Bruce had clearly given it a major upgrade.

But it was of no use.

Cortana breached the firewall, jointly set up by Batman and Barbara, in less than three seconds, and quickly found the problem with the Batcomputer.

"A monitor has been installed on this computer, sir."

Dane nodded; that made sense now.

Batman's every plan was seen by Hush, no wonder he was constantly constrained.

But Bruce would soon discover this problem in the computer and quickly identify the suspect.

—Harold, Batman's personal computer consultant.

Dane remembered this unassuming minor character.

Harold was deaf and mute, but he possessed extraordinary talent in computers and mechanics.

Batman discovered him by chance and arranged for him to be in his Batcave.

He allowed him to focus on this, giving him the opportunity to showcase his talents.

And now Harold had betrayed him. Although accustomed to betrayal, Batman would still feel sad about this one.

In a place like Gotham, human nature cannot withstand any test.

On the other side of Gotham City, Batman had already arrived at the clock tower. There, he met Deathstroke in his yellow and black uniform.

"Look who it is? Batman."

Deathstroke said this deliberately. He, of course, knew that Bruce Wayne was Batman.

But Deathstroke was interested in nothing but money.

In the past, many people in Gotham were willing to pay him to kill Batman, and Deathstroke had almost succeeded several times.

But when he learned that the man under Batman's mask was Bruce Wayne, he abandoned the mission.

Because killing Batman and killing Bruce Wayne were two different prices!

Deathstroke felt he had been fooled, so he decisively abandoned the mission.

But he also formed a grudge with Batman because of it.

"You spent so much money to hire me, you're not going to just watch the scenery with me here, are you?"

Batman calmly said, "The Nightwing incident was your doing?"

He had asked Nightwing, and just like when he was chasing Catwoman, Nightwing also fell from a high building during the attack.

But his battle suit was still the old model, so he tragically fractured his skull directly upon impact.

He was even ambushed by gangsters who had long been lying in wait around the landing spot when he tried to get up.

If Red Hood hadn't arrived in time, Dick would have already died!

Deathstroke did not deny his actions; he openly admitted:

"Someone paid 10 million just to have me cut his rope. Why wouldn't I earn it?"

Batman clenched his fists. 10 million, that was exactly the amount of the ransom.

So his intuition was correct; all these things were planned by the same person. What was his purpose?

At this moment, he suddenly remembered the scene where Poison Ivy controlled Superman.

In fact, this was one of the many plans he had devised against Superman.

In other words, Hush very likely got his inspiration from his computer.

"Do you have any other clues about that employer?"

Deathstroke sneered:

"You know, I only take money; I never care who the employer is."

"I'm a mercenary, not a detective."

"However, for the sake of 20 million, I'll tell you another piece of information."

"I know Clayface is also working for him."

After saying this, Deathstroke lost interest in staying there and turned to leave.

Batman secretly noted this information, then returned to Wayne Manor, taking Catwoman with him.

When he wanted to find Harold to ask about the Batcomputer, he found that he was missing.

Batman realized that he might have been betrayed.

Hush was once again one step ahead of Batman.

Just then, Nightwing, whose condition had originally improved, suddenly took a turn for the worse, and his illness began to deteriorate.

"Bruce, Dick's condition is very bad! He says his head feels like it's about to split open!"

Barbara found him anxiously.

Bruce immediately called Thomas, expressing his hope to transfer Dick to the hospital again.

But Thomas sternly warned him:

"His injury is in his brain. If you move him casually now, the consequences will be unimaginable!"

Bruce used the technology in the Batcave to examine Nightwing and had to admit that Thomas was right.

"You're right, Tommy, could you please... come to the Manor for a visit?"

In desperation, Bruce finally agreed to let Thomas enter the Manor.

And Thomas moved quickly; he arrived at Wayne Manor with a medical team within ten minutes.

"I knew you would mess it up, Bruce."

Thomas's "I knew it" expression left Bruce speechless.

After another six hours of surgery, Dick was once again out of danger. 107

But Thomas, who had been diligently performing the surgery, didn't know that on the Manor's surveillance, two people were closely watching his every move.

One was Batman, but he didn't see anything suspicious.

One was Dane, who used a system backdoor to hijack the Wayne Manor's surveillance footage. He now confirmed that Hush was Thomas.

Because on the other side, at Gotham General Hospital, another Doctor Thomas was meeting with Harold.

This was another villain utilized by Hush, Clayface.

"What are you hiding here, Hush?"

Dane whispered to himself, deciding to go check out Thomas's hideout.

Then, through the magic of "Astral Projection," he infiltrated the hospital in spirit form.

Below the location where Clayface and Harold met, there was a huge Underground Room.

In this Underground Room, he found an isolation room, inside which was the long-missing Harleen Quinzel.

Harleen could not see through Dane's magic invisibility, but she still keenly sensed something.

"Who! Who's there?"

Dane watched her perform alone with interest; she seemed at least not to be suffering any torment.

However, Dane looked around the Underground Room.

This was clearly a laboratory, filled with many chemical reagents and biological tissue research instruments.

There was also a central computer here that was not connected to the internet.

What did this mean?

This meant that Thomas had been preparing in Gotham for a long time; he didn't decide to come back only after hearing Bruce's request...
