As Dane turned on the computer to view Thomas's research records.
Harleen in the isolation room also saw it.
The door holding her was a transparent, specially made bulletproof glass, allowing her to see everything outside clearly.
She saw the empty hall, the computer suddenly lighting up automatically, and faintly heard the sound of typing on the keyboard.
Under the dim lights, this classic horror movie scene did not make Harleen feel fear; instead, it excited her.
"I knew it, I knew someone was here!"
"Who are you? Can you let me see your face?"
Dane did not respond to Harleen behind him; he found some interesting things in Thomas's research log.
Originally, Dane thought that he had completely eliminated the Joker's remains, including his tissue cells and all blood.
But now it seemed, not all of it.
The log recorded:
Thomas Elliot had served as a neurosurgeon at Arkham Asylum a long time ago.
He had studied the brains of every psychiatric patient, including the Joker.
The Joker was an old patient of his, and Thomas was also very interested in the Joker's mental World.
As a professional neurosurgeon, he could not refuse a brain as diverse and complex as the Joker's.
So, he made the mistake that every smart person working at Arkham Asylum makes.
He foolishly tried to study the Joker's brain.
As mentioned before, people who hold important positions at Arkham Asylum might have some issues, and Thomas was no exception.
His curiosity about the Joker's brain prompted him to extract his blood and cerebrospinal fluid in violation of regulations.
Regarding this part, Thomas recorded it in his log as follows:
[When I used tools to pry open his skull and extract his medulla, he suddenly woke up.
But this was impossible, because I had calculated the dosage of the anesthetic, which should have kept him asleep for an entire day.
I didn't know what went wrong, and I was even a little flustered. I knew this was a bit unseemly.
But I was still shocked by this patient named "Joker."
Because he didn't scream, nor did he question or accuse me… He was laughing maniacally.
Do you understand? He was actually laughing maniacally!
I suspect I made a fatal mistake...]
The following content was Thomas's calm narration of the test results of the Joker's sample, and the results showed that everything was normal.
[How ridiculous, the results showed that he was actually completely normal!
Dane frowned as he looked at the string of "hahahaha" after this diary entry, as if mocking someone.
Thomas must have been infected with the joker virus.
People infected with the joker virus would develop a Joker personality within their minds, and this personality would gradually align with the true Joker.
Thomas had obviously discovered this fact, but he did not want to accept it.
He continued to read, and soon he found content related to Harleen.
[I found a female student at Gotham University; her name is Harleen Quinzel.
She is very talented, especially with extremely high attainments in criminal psychology.
I hope she can help me… help me get rid of the damned "Joker"!]
Here, Thomas realized that he was becoming more and more deeply affected by the Joker personality, and he tried to save himself.
And he had tried various methods, even conducting human experiments in Gotham.
Anyway, there was so much trash in Crime Alley, no one would care if one or two went missing.
And for the wealthy Elliot family, solving these problems was just a small matter.
As the joker virus infection became deeper, Thomas also accelerated his research.
But his medical skills had no effect whatsoever on treating the joker virus.
Out of desperation, Thomas hoped to seek psychotherapy.
He began to think that the joker virus might be a psychological mutation, and perhaps psychology could give him some new ideas.
He also set his sights on Harleen Quinzel because of this.
At that time, his interest in Harleen was still limited to her research on criminal psychology.
But when Dane killed the real Joker in Arkham Asylum, Thomas felt the Joker personality suddenly come alive.
In the past, the Joker personality did not contend for control of this body, so Thomas did not show any abnormalities.
But ever since the real Joker's Death, Thomas's Joker personality suddenly actively competed with him for control of the body.
Thomas even almost had his abnormality discovered by outsiders several times because of this.
But what truly surprised him was this: Harleen Quinzel, the female student he had only invited to conduct criminal psychology research, discovered his biggest secret.
She discovered Thomas's Joker personality.
The Joker personality was very interested in her, but Thomas only wanted to kill her; neither could convince the other.
Finally, Thomas proposed a game, because he knew Joker liked games.
He would infect Harleen with the joker virus, and then they would observe her results together.
In previous human experiments, all subjects eventually collapsed and committed suicide due to their inability to withstand Joker's madness.
Thomas had survived by relying on his powerful willpower and tenacious spirit.
So he believed that Harleen would also be tortured to Death by Joker's madness.
Joker indeed found the game interesting; he agreed.
But the result was beyond his expectation: a new personality did indeed emerge within Harleen, but she was not Joker.
It was a brand new personality, albeit a bit crazy.
But compared to the real Joker, she was practically harmless.
Thomas was ecstatic; he believed he had found the antidote, and Harleen was that antidote!
At this point, the Joker personality actually hated Harleen and wanted to kill her.
But Thomas stopped him.
Joker was right; Harleen's mind was unique, even enough to resist the joker virus.
A secret capable of killing the Joker personality was hidden in her brain, but it was not the right time yet, not yet.
Harleen had not truly merged with the new personality; only when Harleen and her new personality were completely integrated would it be time for Thomas to perform a craniotomy on her for research.
The experimental log ends here.
At this point, Dane understood the general situation of Thomas.
He was a supervillain infected with the joker virus, possessing a dual personality.
No wonder he knew Superman, and also knew to instruct Poison Ivy to control him.
The Joker personality told Thomas about Superman's abilities, and Thomas, in turn, used his familiarity with Bruce to steal the plans Bruce had made against Superman.
Joker and Thomas were both highly intelligent criminals; one was manic and had wild, imaginative thoughts; the other was calm and adept at strategic planning.
If they cooperated fully, manipulating Batman and Gotham's criminals would be effortless.
"Bruce, you lost this one fairly."
"With two old friends ganging up on you, and with insufficient intelligence, how much could you possibly achieve?"
"However, this alone isn't enough; I need to lend a hand."
Dane suddenly showed a meaningful smile at this moment.
