"Okay, ask whatever you want, just don't come again."
Basil finally relented, and Batman stopped in time.
"One question: someone in your Clay Gang is working for a man who calls himself Hush, with bandages wrapped around his face. I need to know who it is."
Basil's expression was strange. "Batman, have you forgotten? I've been locked up in prison for a long time!"
He sneered, "And it's all thanks to you!"
Would Batman indulge him? He was currently seething with anger.
He slid his arm screen, adjusting the module set.
The Batman suit did not have an artificial intelligence, so he had to do all these tasks himself.
It was a bit troublesome, but it was safe and controllable. Most importantly, he completely understood his suit.
Before long, the bottom of the Batman suit's boots began to restructure.
"Let's try this."
With that, electric arcs lit up on the sole of his boot, and Basil screamed under his foot.
The sound was so loud that all the criminals in the neighboring sealed confinement cells heard it.
"I know your weakness, Basil. Even if you're made of mud, you still feel pain, don't you?"
Batman's voice was different. Basil thought so.
He had become more enraged than ever before, so it was best not to provoke him.
Basil learned his lesson completely this time. After Batman's round of electrotherapy ended, he quickly said,
"I know, I know, stop so I can talk!"
Batman temporarily stopped, but he was determined that if Basil dared to play games with him again this time, he would try using Fire!
"Please believe me, I really don't know what you're talking about, but!"
Seeing Batman about to make another move, Basil quickly added the rest.
"If you're asking about the new Clayface character outside, I think you should go find that woman, Amanda."
"Amanda? Amanda Waller?" Batman frowned.
"That's right, she's approached many of us recently, collecting a lot of tissue and blood samples from us, and some other strange things…"
He sneered, "Who knows what crazy research that woman is doing with them."
Batman knew that what he said was very likely, just as he knew that this woman harbored immense ambition in her heart.
Having obtained the information he wanted, he turned and left.
Basil watched eagerly in the direction Batman departed, hoping he would leave the door open when he went.
But Batman was clearly a well-mannered person who knew the importance of closing doors behind him.
So Basil's hopes were dashed.
In the main control room, Amanda had dispatched most of her team to maintain order, with only a few remaining to protect herself.
She did not feel she was in danger because the doors to the prisoner cells were specially designed and would not stop working due to a power outage.
Amanda seemed not to have anticipated a situation where someone was specifically coming for her.
So a few minutes later, when the lights in the main control room flickered back on.
She had to admit she was startled when she saw Batman appear before her.
But she quickly composed herself, "Batman!"
Seeing him put her in a very bad mood, because it meant he was responsible for today's events.
Indeed, all these freaks should be monitored and locked up!
Amanda Waller thought grimly.
"Waller, there are some things I want to discuss with you."
Amanda looked around and suddenly roared, "Are you all dead men?!"
Her well-trained Agents were quickly startled by her words, each swiftly reaching for the gun at their waist.
But Batman was faster than them. His hands emerged from under his cape, and with a flick of his wrist, he threw several Batarangs.
One for each, precisely striking the back of their hands as they reached for their waists.
One person without a gun leaped, charging directly at Batman.
He was confident in his close-combat abilities and had long harbored dissatisfaction with the so-called Batman.
He never expected to have a chance to beat him up today, so he couldn't resist.
Amanda did not stop him, but her hand behind her back had already quietly pressed the emergency button.
In no more than five minutes, more personnel would arrive.
And her job was to keep Batman occupied.
But what she did not expect was that one of her most capable members, as soon as he leaped over the table, was knocked down by a single punch from Batman.
It was so swift it was as if they were acting.
Were her subordinates all such useless individuals? She had thought he would at least last a few rounds!
Now, only Waller and Batman remained standing.
Watching him approach step by step, Amanda, who had not yet developed her commanding presence, couldn't help but take a step back.
"I know you pressed the alarm, but I've hacked into your communication network, so we have more time to prolong this."
"Or, you tell me what I want, and I'll leave quietly, as if I was never here."
Amanda could only choose the latter.
With a dark expression... oh, she indeed had a dark expression, she said, "What do you want to know?"
"What have you done with the Clayface's organizational cells?"
Amanda's face immediately changed, which Batman noticed.
"It seems you have indeed done something, haven't you? I've captured Clayface many times."
"So I know that his abilities are actually quite easy to replicate, but they come with some very strong side effects."
"Who did you give this ability to?"
Seeing Batman guess most of what she had done in just a few words, Amanda could only sigh and gave a name.
"Johnny Williams."
After saying that, Amanda felt mentally and physically exhausted, and with a terrible tone, she said to Batman,
"Now, get out of here!"
She felt that the authority of the U.S. had been completely trampled upon!
Batman did not care about her attitude, nor did he seem to do anything, but the ceiling lights flickered again.
After a few seconds of flickering, Batman had vanished from the main control room.
"No one is to speak of what happened tonight!" Amanda's cold gaze swept over everyone present.
No one dared to meet her gaze; those who did quickly lowered their heads.
Amanda Waller turned and left the control room. As she walked, she made a decision.
She vowed to stomp all these lawless scoundrels under her heel! she thought fiercely.
Outside Blackgate Penitentiary, Batman had already found information on "Johnny Williams."
He was once a firefighter who, during a rescue mission in a burning building, unfortunately came into contact with an unknown chemical substance, disfiguring him.
Later, he killed his wife.
Not long after, he killed a woman who sold her body.
Then he disappeared.
Such cases are not uncommon in Gotham; there are at least eighty, if not a hundred, each month.
So the Gotham Police quickly forgot about this case.
No one cared about Johnny Williams, just as no one cared about the deaths of those two women.
Everyone was just another "missing person" who naturally disappeared in this city.
They were merely an insignificant decimal point in the statistics...
