"Pandora."
Pandora's body froze, and she turned her head. Inside the warehouse, a golden light opened like a doorway, and Doctor Fate emerged from it.
"Are you Nabu now? Or Kent Nelson?" Pandora was an old acquaintance of both.
Few people knew that before Nabu became a Lord of Order, he was also an ordinary human, and he was Vandal Savage's son.
This primitive man once ruled ancient Babylon during a certain period and even claimed to be the chief god Marduk. It was during that time that he fathered his son, Nabu.
It should be clarified here that while the name Lord of Order sounds grand, in the Old Gods' system, it is actually considered a secondary god, a class below the true Old Gods.
There is more than one Lord of Order in the entire Universe; Nabu was merely one of those chosen on Earth.
This selection process is very similar to the Green Lantern Corps; on many primitive Planets, some Green Lanterns are also revered as gods.
However, the Green Lantern Corps is deeply influenced by republican ideals and does not claim to be gods… Of course, with the exception of the Little Blue People; these immortal little things love to crown themselves as gods.
All in all, the essence of the Lords of Order is not as high as that of the Old Gods. It is more appropriate to consider them as a group of chosen agents who can use divine power.
Above the Lords of Order, they also have a common Boss. He is called the Lord of Order, and He is a mortal enemy of the Lord of Chaos.
He is the deity who bestows the divine power of order upon humans or other races; this is the true God.
As an immortal woman, Pandora, during her wanderings across the World, naturally encountered the equally immortal human Vandal Savage, and thus also met Nabu before he became a Lord of Order.
Back then, when he turned into a helmet, Pandora even went specifically to mock him.
Pandora dedicated her life to finding a solution to the problem of the seven deadly sins. She believed that humanity had become what it was today entirely because she had accidentally released those seven demons deeply rooted in human hearts.
She hoped to transform this Human world back into the pure World it was during the time of Eden.
But Doctor Fate knew very well that human Sin actually stemmed only from human nature, and not from the seven deadly sins; they were merely parasites that fed on it.
"Pandora, you should not be holding that box. Put it down and leave this place, and I can pretend nothing happened."
Pandora, hearing this, instead smiled at him: "Nabu, you know very well that only I in this World can touch it.
All those humans who tried to touch it went mad, didn't they?"
pandoras box is a very evil item; it has its own will and will tempt anyone who shouldn't touch it.
Legend says that only people of "ultimate good" and "ultimate evil" can touch it without any harm.
Pandora is different; she seems even more special. She can not only touch the Magic Box without restraint but also, to a certain extent, restrict the seven deadly sins.
So, strictly speaking, the Magic Box being with Pandora is indeed safer than being preserved in the Human world.
Doctor Fate pondered for a moment and asked, "Then why are you retrieving the Magic Box at this time? You had already given up on it."
"I never gave up on it!" Pandora's expression suddenly turned very angry.
"The damned Wizard Council condemned me, but I refuse to accept it! I didn't even know what that thing was at the time!"
The crime the Wizard Council sentenced Pandora for was that she possessed an inappropriate curiosity, which was essentially an attempt to dump the blame for the seven deadly sins entirely on her.
But Pandora was always indignant, so she wanted to find a way to rectify her "mistake" and re-seal the seven deadly sins back into pandoras box.
However, this aroused Doctor Fate's vigilance: "So you mean you're going to open it again?"
"Exactly!" Pandora did not deny it. "How can I retrieve the Sin without opening it?"
"But you absolutely don't have to do that anymore!" Doctor Fate said anxiously, "The seven deadly sins have already been trapped in hell by Shazam; they can no longer return to the Human world to do evil. This is completely unnecessary!"
But Pandora did not believe it. Having walked the Human world for many years, the notion that "humanity is afflicted by Sin" had long been deeply ingrained in her, becoming her deep-seated concern.
If she didn't resolve the problem of humanity's Sin, she would never give up!
Even if Doctor Fate clearly told her that those Sins and the seven deadly sins were actually unrelated, Pandora would not believe him.
Helpless, with persuasion proving fruitless, Doctor Fate could only resort to coercive measures.
"If you insist on this, then I'm afraid I'll have to stop you, Pandora."
Doctor Fate flew up, his golden magic aimed at Pandora with both hands. "You should know that you are no match for me, so this is your final ultimatum. Please hand over the Magic Box!"
Pandora looked at the tense Doctor Fate and suddenly smiled, which, combined with the red markings on her face, had a unique charm.
"Since you put it that way, I'll give it back to you then."
With that, Pandora suddenly threw the Magic Box she was holding at Doctor Fate, and he subconsciously caught it with both hands.
In that instant, the power of the Magic Box spread to Doctor Fate through the point of contact, causing him to let out a piercing scream.
The extreme pain made Doctor Fate instantly double over, collapsing to the ground.
He was neither a person of "ultimate good" nor "ultimate evil," and therefore could not touch the Magic Box, suffering a backlash from its power.
This backlash was so painful that even with Doctor Fate's divine power, he was completely unable to resist it.
"It seems you are not the one chosen by the Magic Box either, Nabu."
Seeing Doctor Fate nearly lose consciousness, Pandora then took the Magic Box back, relieving Doctor Fate of his pain.
Then, with a flick of Pandora's finger, and a pull of magic, Doctor Fate's helmet detached from Kent's head and fell into Pandora's hand.
"After all these years, your weakness is still the same, Kent. You've aged a lot."
Pandora saw Kent's white hair and beard, filled with emotion, remembering that when they first met, he was just a young lad.
Although stripped of his divine power, Kent remained elegant. He stood up and straightened his clothes.
"And you are still as young and beautiful as when we last saw you, Pandora."
Pandora didn't want to look at his aged appearance anymore. She threw the helmet in her hand to Kent and warned him:
"I hope you won't interfere with my affairs anymore, Kent. This is my final advice to you!"
Having said that, Pandora turned and left.
Kent, left in the Black Room, held up the helmet, which was emitting a dazzling bright light.
"What? Do you have something else to say?"
"Why did you let her go!" Nabu said sternly.
"Because we couldn't stop her. You and I both know Pandora is immortal, and besides, she is meant to be the Magic Box's wielder."
"You know very well I'm worried about something else!"
Regarding another function of pandoras box, Nabu actually had a vague inkling: it seemed to be a door, but he didn't know where this door ultimately led.
Kent merely stroked the helmet gently, smiling calmly: "No matter what danger we face, I believe the Justice League can resolve it. Have you detected any anomalies from the future?"
..."You've changed so much now." Nabu's voice held a hint of helplessness. Ever since he returned to Kent's side, Kent seemed like a different person, no longer constantly anxious.
But because of this, he began to lack some initiative in his actions. Yet, miraculously, the two of them had never been so perfectly aligned as they were today.
Kent put the helmet back on his head, transforming once again into Doctor Fate.
"Now that the war has just ended, we still have many things to do…"
...After leaving the Black Room, Pandora returned to her base.
Having lived for so many years, besides learning all sorts of skills, she had also assembled her own team.
Fortunately, in recent times, the number of superhumans in the World had been unexpectedly high, allowing her to gather quite a few reliable people.
She believed these people could contribute some strength when she retrieved the seven deadly sins.
Looking at the Magic Box in her hand, Pandora couldn't help but try again, but after a few minutes, she gave up.
Since the first time she opened it, she no longer had the qualification to open the Magic Box.
Pandora guessed that it was probably because she was no longer "purely good" at this time, which was why she couldn't open the Magic Box.
Therefore, she now needed a person of "ultimate good" to help her reopen the Magic Box.
She thought and thought, and felt that perhaps only one person could meet this condition.
That person was Superman...
