Cane's POV
I couldn't believe it. She was sitting in my office. Stephanie. Or the ghost of her. Or whatever she was now had the guts to come to my office?
When my secretary had told me a "Ms. Selene" was here for a meeting about security. I almost said no.
First, what did I need an external security service for? I was good with what I had. Then there's the fact that I'm still holding a grudge. But a sick, curious part of me wanted to see it. I wanted to see how she would look at me, this woman who stole from me and tried to get rid of our son. I wanted to see how she could bare to look at me and not falter.
So I let her in. If it's a game she wants to play, I'll show her I was the champion already.
And there she was. She wore a sharp business suit, her hair pulled back. She looked like a stranger and she went as far as acting like one too. She carried herself in this cool, professional manner like we'd never met.
